The Culloden Hotel - N.Irelands only 5 star hotel
Review of Culloden Hotel, Belfast by
cmarshall123
Advantages: Classy, beautiful surroundings and pure opulance
Disadvantages: Expensive and outside Belfast City.
...Set in beautiful gardens and forest the Culloden hotel is the only hotel in Northern Ireland which has gained 5 stars. An ideal place to stay for those who want to be pampered and stay in luxury. The rooms are classy with differing levels of luxury from double rooms with 4 poster beds to full luxury suites. I found the level of service exemplary , the staff always helpful and smiling, all giving you a feeling of relaxing in great comfort in surroundings that made you feel totally at home. The food in the restaurent was superb - near Michelen star level and the hotel bar was welcoming with good local musicians playing nightly. The atmosphere was one of relaxing in opulance. The only downside was that the hotel was about 8 miles from Belfast - fine if you wanted to stay in the hotel relaxing in the spa and being pampered but if you wanted...

Great 5 star hotel
Review of Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel by
wingnut888
Advantages: Great service and cheap for a 5 star hotel
Disadvantages: May need to book a room in advance
...There are two sites to the Renaissance Hotel. There is the Renaissance Wing Deluxe and the New World Wing Superior. There is not much difference, Renaissance Wing Deluxe is a little more luxury, which each room will cost more. I stay at the New World Wing Superior. I paid RM 185 (approx £26) excluding service charge and 5% gov tax. Rates will changes depending on the month of the year (See below).
The hotel is based close to the city centre, were it is 10 minute walking distance to the Twin Tower and 20 minute walk to the a shopping area. There are taxis and buses if you don't feel like walking. But I recommend using the Monorail, which is close by.
The view is great, I was on the 17th floor and I had a brilliant view of the Twin Towers. I would think if you were at the Renaissance Wing Deluxe site, you would get the view of the KL...

Take a step off the tourist trail in Switzerland
Review of Fribourg, Switzerland by
historywitch
Advantages: Beautiful medieval city, relatively cheap, lots to do, excellent transport links
Disadvantages: none
...by train for longer day trips. Fribourg is a wonderful medieval/Renaissance city with a strong cultural and artistic heritage. If you fancy taking a step off the tourist trail you will be well and truly rewarded.

The Star Hotel - An absolute Gem!
Review of The Star Hotel, Kingussie by
catandkevin
Advantages: Food - Staff - Location - Everything
Disadvantages: NOTHING !
...Just back from a wonderful stay at The Star hotel in Kingussie. We stayed for a 5 night break in Sept. and cannot find fault.
We were welcomed by the owner, and shown to our room.
Good size, with large double bed, nice dressing table & warbrobe with plenty of space for all our walking gear. Tea & Coffe making facilities aswell as an iron & hairdryer. You can have the option of having a bath or shower, we chose bath, which was huge!
Ample car parking behind the hotel which also doubles as a little beer garden.
Breakfast & dinner included in price...and to be honest we have never eaten so much in our lives!!! Absolutely amazing especially for the price! A full range of choices for breakfast, fruits, cereals & of course porridge! Orange juice on tap! Once you've devoured that, a full breakfast menu to choose from...from the full...

5 star luxury for 3 star price
Review of Renaissance Brussels Hotel, Ixelles by
nat23y
Advantages: luxurious, great value, top service,
Disadvantages: a little far out from the main square
...Renaissance hotel
Rue du Parnasse 19
Brussels, 1050 Belgium
This 5 star Renaissance hotel was outstanding value for money!
Location
The renaissance hotel is located in the European quarter of the city. This is fairly quiet on weekends with the European parliament and surrounding offices being closed. Good if you want peace and quiet but definitely not in the heart of the action.
It was about 200m away from Luxemborg Square which contains several bars and restaurants, bus links and a taxi rank. (about 8 Euros to the grand place). We stopped off here for a drink on one of the nights and there was little or no excitement so swiftly made our way to the lively Saint Gery (right near the Grand place where all the good bars and restaurants are)
The Grand place which is the main Square of the city and close to many...

GRAN CANARIA - Blue Star Hotel
Review of Blue Star Apartments, Grand Canary by

Advantages: Located at top of mountain having Brilliant views
Disadvantages: Not perfect - 2**

Well this is a review of my holiday to Gran Canaria and boy did i love it!
º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤ºLOCATIONº¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤
The glorious Blue Star hotel is located at the tops of hills in the Puerto rico resort. Has magnificent views accross the entire resort, being able to see the lit up beaches and city centre of this fantastic resort. Taxis are easily able to get to and from this hotel to virtually anywhere throughout the resort, although if you want to go somewhere else such as the capital, Las Palmas, you should really find a taxi from the city centre. Has a "Europa Centre" located just a 5 minute walk away from the hotel, filled with endless restaraunts, bars, and few shops. Whilst down in the city centre, which is simply a 10 minute taxi drive away is absolutely...

5 Star Paradise
Review of Leopard Beach Hotel, Ukunda by
bluetedgirl
Advantages: Excellent facilities, beautiful setting, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Variety of food, expenive at times
...it is perhaps the fact that the journey from Mombasa airport to Diani Beach takes about an hour and a half, over sometimes hectic and dusty roads. But it is little price to pay for what greets you at Leopard Beach. Everything you need is within arms length. The beach is safe, there are patrols though for the safety of the tourists along it, there are multiple 5 star resorts lined up next to each other. There are excursion touts and locals selling things along the beach and they will follow you right up until you are in the water, however, for the most part they are harmless and will leave you be if you are on hotel property.
If you venture out onto the main road, outside of the hotel, and walk the 10 minute walk down to the little shopping centre, and Barclays Bank (good exchange rate!!!) you will be persistently talked to by more locals...

Great Value 3-Star Hotel
Review of Bewley's Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: Highly recommended 3-star Dublin hotel handy for the city centre
Disadvantages: Not a lot!
...to the Royal Dublin Showgrounds (RDS) and directly opposite the 5-star Four Season's Hotel. It's about a mile and a half into the city centre, and the hotel is well serviced by public transport. The Aircoach from the airport stops here every 20 minutes or so, there are numerous bus stops right at the door, and a light rail station (DART) about 5 minutes walk away. Of course, by far the most sensible option is to pick up a taxi at the rank at the hotel entrance. (Heh, heh)
If you're travelling by car Bewley's have a very secure underground car park which costs residents Euro7 per day.
One of the things I particularly like about Bewley's Ballsbridge is the building itself. It's very old and very attractive, having started life as a Freemason's School back in the 19th century.
And, of course, you can be absolutely assured of a really good cup...

Warm, friendly and welcoming
Review of Movenpick Hotel (Geneva) by
historywitch
Advantages: Excellent facilities/freebies/ fantastic staff and restaurant
Disadvantages: Lacklustre and drab rooms
...for the one day we were in Geneva. This all makes the £80 seem much better value for money, especially when you also consider that your room key gives you unlimited access to the gym/spa next door to the hotel (literally next door). Sadly we didn't get to check this out as we had an early start in the morning but I have been told that it is a modern and well-equipped facility and a nice additional bonus! In addition to the 18 meeting rooms and casino the hotel also has five places to eat/drink including a Japanese restaurant.
***What they say about themselves***
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is an international Swiss premium hotel chain active in the 4- and 5-star resort hotel and business/airport hotel markets. With 80 hotels existing or under construction represented in 23 countries, it serves over 5 million guests per year. Mövenpick Hotels...
