Advantages: Excellent Picture Quality, Great Sound and a Stunning design
Disadvantages: Only one HDMI slot
...We had our Philips 32" CRT for quite a few years and we decided that we would upgrade to an HDTV. When we were looking around, one TV stuck out from the rest, the Pioneer 436SXE.
The picture quality is fantastic, whether you're watching any form of TV programme, DVD's, the quality is brilliant. Especially compared to our old Philips.
Sound performance is good too and we're just listening to it through the integrated speakers.
On the outside, the TV looks outstounding with a glossy black finish.
The only one downside to the TV is that it only has one HDMI slot. This means if you have a Sky HD box and a DVD player that possesses HDMI, you'll have to keep switching between the two. I don't find this a huge problem though as even though it adds to the cost, you can purchase an HDMI adapter to enable to connect both devices.

A new window enlivens the world

Advantages: Awesome looks and picture, excellent connectivity

..., and it combines so smartly with the rest of the unit's appearance (a piano-black frame) that it draws you into the image. Even if it's a dodgy Freeview rendition of Saturday Morning TV.
All the Pioneer "436" models use the same plasma panel. The differences (FDE/SXE/XDE) are in the connectivity options. I chose the XDE. It has an external "media receiver" with 2x HDMI inputs, plus 3 SCART, 1 Component, 1 S-Video, 1 Composite video and a PC Card slot. It also has a built-in Freeview tuner with Top-Up TV capability.
The beauty of the external media receiver is that you run all the cables from your devices (DVD et al) to the media receiver, and then run power to the panel, and an umbilical from the receiver to the panel.
