Advantages: Live TD music
Disadvantages: Only half a concert

...I bought this album about two years ago with some other TD albums. It’s been in my ‘wanted’ list for some time. Unfortunately, after listening to it, I was sadly disappointed. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t as good as I imagined it to be. I have recently listened to this after quite some time. In fact, I think this is only my third time of listening to it. It is supposedly the first release of the so-called "Tangerine Dream Classics Edition", released in 1999, featuring the first part of the Sydney concert. The rest of the concert (Soho Man 2 perhaps) has never, as yet, been released. A bootleg LP version called ‘Leprous Appearance On Wednesday’ appeared in 1984 and was re-released in CD format in 1993, featuring the same part of this concert. ...There's one thing that gets me about this album, it was released in November 2000, so why call it the Pepsi Chart Album 2001? By the time 2001 came all the tracks were old hat with many of them being out the charts for at least 3 months, tracks like Flowers (Sunship edit) - Sweet Female Attitude, Don't call me baby - Madison Avenue and You see the trouble with me - Black Legend all being hits of summer 2000, not 2001! Apart from that the actual track listing is more pop then I've seen on a supposedly mixed compilation before, the tracks are mainly fast and happy, which makes a change from albums which try to vary the music a little too much. The album's let down by Flee Fly Flo, I'm not against the song, even bought the single, but a song with the lyrics 'cumala-cumala-cumala-fista' stuck in between Billie and the Vengaboys... Advantages: Dreamy sound, easy to listen to, lovely album
Disadvantages: One dodgy track, can be repetitive

...to an already fun filled and boppy song! Track 3; Chunky chunky air guitar. I don't want to talk about it. I won't lie. This song is dreadful; uninspired, cryptic and not even particularly pleasing to the ear drums. It's credit to the Whitlams that I still adore them after hearing this! In terms of the album, it does fit with the flow and it's over pretty quickly, so don't worry about it too much. Pretty as You is a great track in its own right but is made even better by the fact that it follows Chunky chunky air guitar. Dreamy, with prominent guitars and horn section. This is that most unique of songs; something you can both sleep and dance to. You Gotta Love This City is the album's title track. It's a slow, bluesy ballad set in Sydney. ...Oh yes, another Green Day album review! Still a couple more to go, and hopefully this one will push me onto a nice red splodge! Due to the response on the Nimrod review, I won’t be reproducing the lyrics with this review, but I’d still recommend that you look them up on Google or a similar site, as they do make good reading. 1 – 2000 Light Years Away Written by Billie Joe after his first kiss with now wife Adrienne, it’s a classic punk love song, and a good one to sing along to. Great lyrics and music, and an all-round classic. More fantastic guitar playing from Billie Joe and the trademark bass sound that only Mike Dirnt can achieve – has to be heard. 2 – One For The Razorbacks Another great song. Some good vocal contrasts with Billie Joe’s lead vocals in the chorus and Mike’s backing vocals. A really great song... Read review

...This is an epic album. It contains everything you could need - fast, upbeat rockers and slow, pensive ballads. A stunning opening is achieved with the cool 'don't panic'. The singles here are just a snapshot of the overall album but still 'shiver' and 'yellow' are blinding. My personal favourite is 'trouble' - a piano-laden atmospheric piece. Chris Martin's vocals are breath taking - his voice oozes warmth in the relevant places. This album went straight to the top of the album charts and deservedly so - sure to be a classic and the album of 2000.... Read review

...happy with her just the way she is. One cannot help but wonder how this song would have turned out if his wife was a bit ugly. "I love you…but you have put on a few pounds lately…" may not have gone down quite as well laydeez of the world. So it's lucky that Mrs Joel was as lovely as the sax solo that bisects this song, and even lovelier than Robbo 2000's karaoke version, the last performance of which received at least three claps from the people gathered in the pub (only two of whom were Robbo's friends). The lyrics may seem saccharine or clichéd, but bear in mind that this was thirty years ago, when clichés probably hadn't been invented yet.
