Button-bash your way to victory !!
Review of Sydney 2000 (PC) by
Daleroxxu
Advantages: fun, especialy in multiplayer
Disadvantages: sore thumbs ;)
...In short if you like the button bashing variety of sports game you'll love this.
I found Sydney 2000 to be a vast improvement over International Track And Field, the animation is nothing short of excellent and the stadiums look great (the white water in the Kayak Slalom looks particularly impressive) . Although the game play is still in the classic button bashing guise you feel the developers have really made an effort in the one player game. As anyone who has played International Track And Field will know the single player experience can be tedious. Not so with Sydney 2000 where you can train a team up through local and national competitions preparing them for the games in Sydney.
In summary I found Sydney 2000 to have that must-go-back-for-more feeling that other similar games have lacked.
If you only buy one sports game this year...

THE TRAVELLERS DREAM
Review of Sydney (Australia) by
michellej
Advantages: There is everything here to suit everyone
Disadvantages: nuffink
...Sydney is great, full to the brim of wacky and weird people which is what I like to see in a major city. Variety! There are many areas in Sydney that would take a very long time to explore properly.
As you know, the Olympics are here in the year 2000, September!
When they won it was beer on the house! Great stuff.
One of the most controversial areas in Sydney is Kings Cross, with night-clubs that stay open until 7 am, (just in time for work!), great restaurants and scenes that will probably make your jaw drop.
Sydney is the gay capital of the world and things just go crazy when the Mardegra is on, you can see it all in Kings Cross.
From Kings Cross, if you wander towards Woomolloo, there is a great pub that plays great live acts. From there, you're not too far from the Opera House and the city.
The Opera House is absolutely...

ESPN is not the best
Review of ESPN International Track & Field (PS2) by
D1A1UK
Advantages: Graphics are ok
Disadvantages: very dodgy cameras
...International Track and Field finally arrives on the Dreamcast. OK! I had been really looking forward to seeing what Konami could do with the Dreamcast version (surely it would beat the Playstation version) But, I am sad to admit it isn’t as I had hoped it would be - in fact I was very disappointed with it. OK - so it's got fairly good animation/graphics and is presented alright, but think about it; when there are less events to play in the game than in Sydney 2000 and less than the previous games on other formats ESPN is going to struggle to hold your attention - this was exactly what happened. OK some of the player animations are very good and I suppose the graphics are better than those in Sydney 2000 (and the sky detail is good) I actually think that Sydney 2000 is by far the better game.
The camera angles are all wrong...

Complex
Review of Sydney 2000 (PC) by
l33te
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...Sydney 2000, I think must be the first Olympic game that I have ever seen. It is the official video game for the dreamcast. The graphics seem to be better than the ones on the tv of the real Olympics. The keys for this game get a little tireing after a while, I think after doing the 110 - meter hurdles event on a demo disc, I may have to get a new finger because mine is really starting to ware away after playing that! I think I may get this game just for all the other events....

Great game for the olympics
Review of Sydney 2000 (PSX) by
bryans_claire
Advantages: Good graphics
Disadvantages: Slow loading
...My brother recently bought this game, and although i myself am not a fanatic of computer games i found myself wanting to play this quite a lot. I've always enjoyed these kind of games and also played Track and Field on a regular basis aswell. Sydney 2000 is similar to Track and Field in that the buttons are the same. The graphics on this game are better though, and there is also trianing procedures to go through in this game aswell.
There is one thing that i disliked about the game though (which is really the same for a lot of games) it takes some time to load, and it has to load all the time.
Otherwise the game is good and i would recommend it to any olympic fanatics as long as you have strong fingers as the action buttons are very repetitive to say the least!!!...

Independent Traveller's Sydney
Review of Sydney (Australia) by
C.Laslett
Advantages: Loads to see and do. Quite cheap
Disadvantages: Busy
...Sydney has everything to suit an independent traveller on a budget. There is plenty of cheap accommodation, lots to see and do, excellent transportation and a whole lot more.
I arrived by train, at the Central station. Situated literally just accross the road from this is the Sydney Central YHA, a huge, fantastic youth hostel. However, in spite of being so massive, its many facilities make it extremely popular so my advice is to book in advance.
If you don't want to stay here, there are many other backpacker-type places splashed all over the city and its suberbs.
Getting around Sydney is easy. it has a fantastic public transport system which includdes buses, tram-type trains and even a monorail system. However, when you have a little more time on your hands make sure to walk around the city, it is truly amazing.
There is lots to do...

Olympic fever on PC!
Review of Sydney 2000 (PC) by
ghostwriter
Advantages: good graphics
Disadvantages: becomes tiresome
...It seems that every four years, people around the globe become singularly possessed by a condition known as "Olympic fever." As the games of the XXVIIth Olympiad got underway in Sydney, Australia during the past week, occurrences of this condition have continued to escalate. You need only to look around you to find examples of the Olympics' influence on everyday life. A quick survey of common household products will likely result in encountering everything from the "official credit card of the 2000 Olympics" to the "official snack food of the 2000 Olympics" and, yes… even the "official video game of the 2000 Olympics!"
Sydney 2000, developed by Attention To Detail (ATD) and published by Eidos Interactive, is the aforementioned official video game of the 2000 Summer Games. Unlike products such as the "official nose hair tweezers...

The Olympics may be over but the spirit live on
Review of Sydney 2000 (DC) by
Wolf
Advantages: Lots of events
Disadvantages: Still lots of button pounding
...When I received this game my thumbs prickled with memories of games like Track and Field that depended on your ability to pound buttons until your fingers swell into unusable calloused sausages.
I was though pleasantly surprised by Sydney 2000 it is a very, very good game that even a medium button pounder like myself can get into.
The concept is very simple you have a variety of modes for a variety of Olympic sports, while there are several disciplines missing (Judo and Gymnastics for example) there is a pleasantly broad enough range to please anyone.
The modes themselves will be familiar to any Dreamcast owner, firstly there is Arcade where you progress through the 12 disciplines in a steady fashion getting the best results you can in each. Coaching, where you have the opportunity to improve your skills with the addition of a ghost...

Great graphics, difficult to control
Review of Sydney 2000 (PSX) by
BennyRialto
Advantages: Great graphics and presentation
Disadvantages: Long loading times; strenuous season mode
...Having both been massive addicts of button basher International Track and Field, one of my best mates bought me Sydney 2000 during the height of the summer's Olympic fever. We quickly became addicts, but found the game far tougher to master, and the controls less responsive.
It's difficult to compare the two games, as the graphics on Syndey 2000 are outstanding, and the presentation truly superb. That said, much more could have been made of the season mode, where you train an athletics team and then take them to the olympics. A great idea, it is instead hindered by boring exercsises and outrageous, repetitive loading times.
There are twelve events, and most of them are well recreated enough, apart from the impossibly difficult Kayaking. it's tough to tell the different between the green poles, which you pass through from the front...

Good day mate
Review of Sydney (Australia) by
tepu
Advantages: much to do
Disadvantages: sometimes the prices are vey high
...Down under,
a fascinating land which is well known especially since the olympic games were in Sydney in the year 2000. While I was in Sydney the olympic games were already finished but you still were able to feel the special flair of the city.
Sydney has a lot of things who are worth it to visit. here are some:
AMP Tower Centrepoint
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
This tower is the tallest observation deck in the southern hemisphere. On the top of the tower you will experience a breathtaking view of Sydney and its surrounds. You will see the harbour to the north, the pacific ocean with its waves to the east, the Botany Bay to the south and the Blue Mountains to the west. If you visit this place at evening time you can also dine in two revolving restaurants. I didn´t but it looked really good.
Sydney Olympic Park...
