The Sydney Harbour Bridge

Advantages: Read Opp
Disadvantages: Read Opp

...catering from a novice to someone who is a thrill seeker, and thus the tour will be more intense and exciting. The main tours can consist of The Express, The Discovery, and The Bridge climb. The most popular and most famous of all is perhaps "The Bridge Climb", which is a 3 and half hour thrill seeking climb, which takes you to the outer reach of the bridge on catwalks and ladders reaching a height of 134 meters. This was one exceptional experience, because you get to see the whole city from the top of the bridge, the people, and cars look so little from that height. The views of the local Harbour, the Sydney Oprah and the city buildings are simply stunning, and its best to go on a hot summer?s day as the breeze from the sea really makes you feel cool. Safety is a big issue on the tour as you would expect all safety checks are carried out...

Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge

Advantages: Fantstic views, sense of real achievement
Disadvantages: Quite pricy, need to book

...One of the biggest tourist attractions in Sydney is the Sydney Harbour Bridge. There it stands at the Quay Side all majestic and quite frankly massive. You can walk over the bridge as a pedestrian to get to the other side of the harbour. However why would you want to do that when you could climb the bridge!!!!!!! I am not frightened of heights (I mean I have done a parachute jump for gods sake) but even to me this looked quite daunting. Its 136 metres above sea level and is one of the largest bridges in the world. There is a company called Bridge Climb that have based themselves there and basically they give you training and then you climb the bridge. The Bridgeclimb is a totally professional affair and it costs $155 dollars (about 70 pound at the current exchange rate) to do it monday to friday or $175 dollars...

Sydney BridgeClimb - Climb of your life!

Advantages: Climb of a lifetime! Amazing view!
Disadvantages: Additional prices for photos

...WOW! How to discribe the Sydney harbour bridge climb... on my visit to australia in february, me and my australian partner decided to visit the city and see some sights, we had read about it online a few months before and decided thats what we really wanted to do... especially me, since I set my eyes on it I knew thats all I wanted to do while I was in Australia even if I didnt do anything else. A week before we decied to go on the bridge climb we went on the website, booked up a climb for the last climb of the day so that it would start getting dark on our descent, "click click" the booking was complete just had to wait for a verifaction number in an email and everything was done. The day before the climb we remembered the email and noticed it had been deleted along with the spam-mail so we called up and the woman on the other...

Auckland Harbour Bridge Climb

Advantages: Great View of Auckland
Disadvantages: Little excitement

...'Climb Auckland's Harbour Bridge!' the article said and naively mental pictures of spiderman crept into my head filling me with childish glee... I could imagine myself boldly climbing up narrow steps and finally hauling myself to the top to be confronted by the most stunning views of Auckland. In reality the Auckland Harbour Bridge Climb, run by the thrill-seekers guru AJ Hackett did not live up to my expectations and my Spiderman dreams were left unfullfilled. It costs $65 to climb the bridge and this was a significant factor in my decision to climb the bridge (it was cheaper than bungy jumping off it for $125). however the bridge climb doesn't hold the same adrenalin thrills. You are dressed in 'stylish' grey overalls and harnessed to a handrail on a relatively wide walkway and led by a guide. the attraction is very quiet...

Review of Auckland Harbour Bridge Climb

Climb the Bridge, I dare you!

Advantages: Stunning Views
Disadvantages: Not cheap

...As many of you may know, I live in the beautiful harbour side city of Sydney, resplendent with its Opera House, magnificent city skyline and of course The Sydney Harbour Bridge or ?The old coat hanger? as it?s sometimes known. I used to live on the North Shore of Sydney and drove over the bridge every day, occasionally looking up and seeing some grey lumps on the side which on second glance appeared to be people. I was well aware of the ?Bridge Climb?, an organised ascent of the bridge where you are strapped on to the bridge via a wire and led by a trained group leader. You climb up to the very top and have pictures taken and admire the breath taking view before climbing back down on the opposite side which gives you a superb city view. Despite my knowledge of the whole thing I?d never actually done it in three years of living here until...

sydney harbour bridge

Advantages: everything!
Disadvantages: you cant take your camera up there

...wow! I would recommend goin to see this to everyone! it's the most increible place! and you have to do the bridge walk! by day the view is incredible, you can see for miles! and by night the view of all the lights is just the most incredible sight you could ever imagine! It doesn't cost as much as i though it would, i think it worked out $75 but is totally worth it! you get to wear these crazy suits which are quite funny, and you get tour bridge guides which are really funny and they tell you about all the different building and attractions that you can see when your up there. Its abit of a shame that you can't take your own camera up there, but its because of health and safety, imagine if you dropped it! there are cars under you! for those of you that are scared of heights, don't worry, so am I! you don't really even notice the height!...

Not a bridge too far.

Advantages: Excellent views, nice easy climb.
Disadvantages: Could book on a day with bad weather.

...On the way to Manchester airport, my taxi driver asked where we were flying to. I told him we were going to Sydney and his first response was to tell me to try the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb. After arriving in Sydney I asked my girlfriend Lucy when we are going to book it. She wasn't keen but I argued with her that it was something we would probably never get to do again. After about 3 days she finally agreed. We made our way down to The Rocks district of Sydney which is across the harbour from the opera house and where the booking offices for Bridgeclimb are situated. We booked in person, but you can book by phone or online. We arrived at the offices and everything looked very good. As we climbed the stairs we noticed that there were a lot of photos on the wall, we had a look and they were pictures of many celebrities who had...

A must for a trip to Sydney

Advantages: You can see for miles!
Disadvantages: Don't look down! Pricy but a must

...is about 67GBP and 40GBP for a child?all the way up to a dawn exclusive of $295 per adult, which is about 117GBP. *****Extra bits included***** Included in the price is a photo of your walking group (approx 12 to one instructor) and commemorative certificate. You also get free admission to the museum and look out tower where you can view the history of the bridge's construction as well as view the bridge and see the climbers below you on their decent.***See photos from my trip*** This is also a good spot for anyone who doesn't want to do the climb but still wants to take photos (digital zoom would help!) *****Location***** Its quite prominent and if you head in to the right direction then you can follow the tourist sign posts to the attraction. When you get to Sydney we approached it from an area called 'The Rocks' which is...

Bridgeclimb - The Climb of your life

Advantages: The View
Disadvantages: The cost (£40 approx)

...Bridgeclimb is the latest 'must do' in Sydney. It is billed as 'the climb of your life' a claim that is not far wrong. Ever since the bridge has been open pedestrians have been able to walk across the pedestrian footpath from one side of the bridge to the other. However, within the last couple of years a company has been set up to allow people to climb over the top of the arch of the bridge. You start the climb at the HQ in Cumberland street, at the base of the bridge. There, after watching a video presentation you are breath tested (really!) before being given a grey suit to wear over your clothes. Apparently the bridge is heritage listed and the climbers are supposed to blend in with the structure. After being kitted out wth your harness you then get to practice on a small rig in the HQ to ensure that you can clip onto...

Climb the Bridge - do a 'Billy'

Advantages: Not your everyday tourist trap. Excellent views of the city and plenty of historical and hilarious commentary
Disadvantages: Can't take your own camera up. The crap grey overalls.

...I spent a week in Sydney early last year and I have to say that one of the highlights was the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb. I first saw Billy Connelly do it on TV years ago and since then they have opened it up to the public. It's not really a climb actually, it's more of a walk. Almost anyone should be able to do it since there is only about 30 feet of vertical ladders to actually climb. The rest is all walking. Firstly, it may seem a bit expensive. I paid 100 Aus dollars to do this (about 30 quid) but as the full tour takes nearly 3 hours I think it is value for money. Our guide was not an Aussie, but a Spanish lad who really knew his subject and took great pride in keeping us informed all the way around. He was a real fund of knowledge with lots of little anecdotal tales that kept us laughing the whole time. It's a very easy 'climb...
