The Rocks - Sydney, Australia
Advantages: Full of history, bars, clubs, markets
Disadvantages: none
...something for everyone here. They do guided tours around the rocks area but to be honest we didn't do that. I always find that they rush you from place to place and would prefer to do it at my own pace with a few beers put in here and there. We took a map from the Concierge at our hotel that had the rocks on it and places of interest and found that was the best way to get around.
The rocks is wheel chair accessible as there are a few steps but these do have ramps next to them. Although I would say that the Rocks area is very hilly and does have cobbles streets in some places so if you were in a wheel chair some of the places might be a little uncomfortable to get to.
The rocks has many hotels and the location really is amazing. Its right next to the Sydney Harbour Bridge so no matter where you sit for a coffee/beer/cup of tea you get...

Travel..Dodge! Sydney Australia hotels.
Advantages: Location and proximity to centre.
Disadvantages: Everything about this hotel services.
...After Traveling around Australia for Months I have stayed in many hotels across the East Coast as you will discover in my Reviews. As more and more of us are traveling to Australia, I think its useful to see what are hotels we are assured of, are actually what we are getting after thousands of miles of traveling to our dream destination.
We booked The Travelodge Sydney because me and my partner thought its a reputable name, Travelodge all over the world.
Fine within the UK, not great but always comes up to standard.
We had four days in Sydney and booked here! what a mistake.
We arrived at the Hotel after traveling from Bribane 2-hours away.
We were very tired and wanted to get some sleep after traveling from 4-am we needed a little sleep.
Our hotel reservations were to check in early, but to our dismay they didn...

The Rock on The Rock
Advantages: Magnificent views
Disadvantages: Uninspiring refurbishment, lack of character
...The Rock Hotel in Gibraltar was THE place to be in the 1930?s. When travel was so much more complicated than it is today it was only the rich and the famous who could afford to spend time in this famous hotel, and it prominently figured in the top ten list for the entire world.
It boasts an impressive visitor?s book of guests including Errol Flynn, Dirk Bogarde, Judy Garland and many many more of those enigmatic early screen stars.
Today The Rock Hotel has been updated and refurbished and now only has four stars but I was still looking forward to staying in what must surely be a most opulent hotel.
As with everything in the tiny 2.5 miles long and 0.5 miles wide strip of land that is Gibraltar The Rock Hotel is only a 5 minute taxi ride from the airport. Gasp in amazement as your taxi takes you over the airstrip that your...

Sydney Marriott hotel... the best i've ever seen!
Advantages: You can see the most amazing view of the harbour.
Disadvantages: it is a bit pricey, but it's absolutely worth it!
...the picture so it looked more appealing...
We couldn't be more wrong, when we arrived at the airport we got a car to the hotel, and I had never seen a better hotel location in ma life, it was exactly like the picture, maybe even better because I was really there, I got so excited, and Sydney has to be the best place for a holiday!
I've still kept the brochure to this day, so I can tell you alot about it:
- it has an amazing 32 floors
- it has 508 rooms
- and 48 suites
- it has a great little restaurant, which you can get the best food!
- it has a very nice little coffee shop
- 24 hour room service
- gift shops
- cable/ satelite, minifridges, full kitchens in some rooms, phones (can make international calls) and many more!
- spa, indoor pool, solarium, health club, sauna, massage rooms, jogging, tennis, squash, beach, sailing, water...

An Excellent First Class Hotel
Advantages: Central Location and Efficient Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Pricy
...We visited Sydney in January 2004 and spent three wonderful nights staying at this 5* hotel.
Location
----------
The Sydney Four Seasons hotel is located overlooking the city's famous Rocks district. This gives you very easy access to the ferries which can take you to all the other resorts. It is also a short and pleasant stroll to the famous Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is also close to the city's shopping and business districts.
To reach the hotel from the airport there is a shuttle service for a small fee and it will take about 20-30 minutes. If you really want to make it a trip to remember the hotel can provide a limousine service.
The hotel does have on site parking.
Arrival
--------
The reception area of the hotel is huge! Even though we arrived from the UK on the early morning flight they were...

On The Rocks?
Advantages: Unsurpassed Location, Period Features, Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: No Air-conditioning
...it one of Sydney's most popular attractions. The Russell, a boutique hotel set in the very heart of the Rocks, epitomises the charm of this part of Old Sydney.
THE HOTEL: The Russell in its present form was built in 1887, beside the site of Australia's oldest hotel and licensed establishment, The Fortune of War, which dates back to 1801. The Russell was refurbished in the early 1990's, with a late Victorian aesthetic predominating throughout, in line with the building's age and history. Inside, clean and fresh colours are complemented with attractively restored, period features and furnishings. The hotel is quite small, with just 29 rooms (including some rather large suites as well as an appartment) and the simple ground floor reception area reflects this. A large bowl of jellybeans rests on the counter, and various brochures about...

Universal's Hard Rock Hotel August 2006
Advantages: Location, Atmosphere, Luxurious yet Hip Feel
Disadvantages: It is rather pricey
...The adverts for this hotel invite you to "Live like a rock star at the exciting Hard Rock Hotel® at Universal Orlando® Resort."
Is this true? Well yes, I think you could say so, for a number of reasons. Overall our stay here was amazing and I was very sorry when it ended. It is supposedly done in California Mission style - now I have no idea whether this hotel is authentic to this style or not, but it was lovely!
The moment you make your way up the sweeping drive to be pounced on by a member of the valet section you know you are about to be spoiled rotten. The entrance is very grand and as you walk into the lobby area the only word is "Wow!". It is immense and open plan and very grand, but not in an intimidating way at all. As an example, there are velvet chaise lounges with kids skating round in Heeleys - sort of very posh but...

The pulse of Sydney!
Advantages: Location, Price, facilities
Disadvantages: none
...The Travelodge Sydney is one of the best value 3 star hotels in Sydney City Centre.
Location
This hotel is perfectly located a stones throw away from the action; a mere block away from Oxford St where you will find funky cafes, restaurants, Sydney's best choice of late bars for the clubbers among you and great shopping.
Other nearby attractions
Pitt Street Mall which is renowned for its shopping is less than a kilometre away as is Darling Harbour, the rocks, the opera house and the harbour bridge. Sydney City Centre isn't really that big so you can get to any of these plus other major attractions by foot although the hotel reception was always happy to book us taxis when we went out at night (and all the cab drivers knew where the hotel was when we were trying to find our way back there after a night out on the champas...

The Sydney Harbour Bridge
Advantages: Read Opp
Disadvantages: Read Opp
...My next review is on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which is perhaps one of the most iconic monuments in Sydney, if not the whole of Australia. The Bridge is the main thing that stands out when you first arrive in Sydney, its like their gateway into and out of the City, and with its sheer size, its something that people should take the time to look at up close and personal.
History:
The bridge has a long history, original plans to create the bridge started in the late 1890?s however construction didn?t actually start until the mid 1920?s. The bridge?s total length is a mammoth 1149 metres (3,770 ft), and according to the World Records book the bridge has the tallest arch steel frame measuring 134 meters (429.6 ft)
The bridge is accessible by many modes on transport which include, train, car toll, and walking. The bridge connects two main...

Nomads Maze Bckpackers, Pitt Street Sydney
Advantages: friendly, helpful, easy-going, great atmosphere
Disadvantages: No powerpoints in the rooms!! Read my review to see why this was a problem!! Small communal kitchen
...I stayed in this hostel my first night in Australia - i booked a single room cos I figured after 24 hours on a plane anda rriving in Sydney at 9pm all I would want to do is have a shower and go to bed!! It cost just 19 pounds for a single room which was great considering you would expect to pay at least 10 pounds for a dorm room in Sydney, even up to 20 pounds for a hostel like Wake Up! just a little further down on Pitt Street!
The hostel is located right in the middle of Sydney, within easy walking distance (even if you arel ugging a 20kg backpack around with you!) of Central train station and Museum train station. It is also within walking distance (maybe leave the backpack in your hostel room for this one!) of the harbour and the famous bridge and opera house - this would take around 30-45 minutes so if you aren't feeling very...
