A desirable cottage ideal for expanding family!
Advantages: a delightful cottage to house your sylvanian figures
Disadvantages: none
...It was my younger daughter's fourth birthday on Saturday and from her grandparents she received this delightful Rose Cottage which is part of the Sylvanian Families range. They had already bought her a little family for Christmas but they didn't have anywhere to live - hence this cottage.
I love the entire Sylvanian families range and I think all of the products are particularly well made with good attention to detail and this cottage is no exception. It is made of a very sturdy plastic but it almost looks like wood. The cottage has two rooms over two floors with a connecting ladder between the two. It has a door and windows that open and close at the front. The back is open though allowing the child full access to play inside it. The cottage has a red roof and has a really lovely cottagey look to it.
It's not a very big house but it...

Excellent family car
Advantages: Comfortable, spaceous, excellent road handling
Disadvantages: Every body drives one!
...I bought my Ford Focus Zetec as I needed a family 5 door car. The zetec is in the higher end of the model range and often as mine does, comes with uprated extras over the base models. My car came with a 'Climate Pack'. This is a combination of air conditioning, heated front windscreen, heated mirrors and heated washer jets. These are excellent features in the winter months and save valueable minutes in a morning defrosting the car.
I personally think the Focus is a sexy looking car, I didn't realise until I bought mine that every other car on the road seems to be a Focus. Not that this bothers me, but if your are after an individual car then the Focus is not for you.
The Ford Focus Zetec model cames with front and rear fog lights and electric headlight levelling, so you can change the height of the beam from the inside whilst...

Family Fortunes!
Advantages: A great read
Disadvantages: none
...I have always enjoyed Rowan Coleman's books so I'm always pleased when I spot a new one of hers. I was especially pleased when I picked up The Accidental Family because I realised it is a sequel to one of her earlier books - The Accidental Mother. I had read this a while ago and really enjoyed it so it was interesting to see what happened to the characters afterwards. Having said that though, The Accidental Family can be read as a stand alone novel although it does have an added value if you read The Accidental Mother first.
In the first book Sophie Mills suddenly finds herself looking after her best friend's two daughters after a fatal car accident. At the end of the book, the girls' long lost father has reappeared and Sophie has fallen in love with him. They all move to Cornwall and this second book follows what happens as they start...

What a family!
Advantages: Everything.
Disadvantages: None.
...This review is of the complete first series of My Family, on DVD. Copyrighted BBC 1996, it holds the rating of Parental Guidance (PG) due to mild swearing and references to sexual activities or similar.
The main storyline is around the Harper family, who live in suburban London. They are as follows:
Ben Harper (Robert Lindsay): the dad, and a dentist. Just likes to be left alone to watch the TV, read the paper and drink beer (but in no particular order). Thinks that he is the vice of reason in the family, but is constantly being proved otherwise.
Susan Harper (Zoe Wanamaker): the mum, who is a tour guide and (she thinks) a gourmet cook. Wants to be involved in her children's lives, but is constantly reminded by their actions that she is unable to reason with them on their level.
Nick Harper (Kris Marshall): the eldest son...

Keeping me in touch with my Family and Friends
Advantages: Unlimited calls between 4 or 6 vodafone numbers (max 60mins call)
Disadvantages: Only between vodafone numbers, no reminders if on PAYG
...Vodafone Family (& Friends) is a nice little add-on available for both contract and Pay As You Go users of the network. For just £5 a month unlimited calls can be made between up to four different Vodafone numbers, and if bigger group is required then there is the option to increase the group to six for £7 a month. I?ve been using the family option for a couple of years now, starting on Pay As You Go (PAYG) and then continuing when I moved on to contract.
Set up on PAYG is a little convoluted, it took me quite some time to get through the options and the phone needs £5 of credit on it before the group can be created (£7 for a group of 6). It?s a good idea to write down the numbers you want to add to the group before calling 2345 and working your way through the options. As soon as the group is created £5 (or £7) is deducted from your...

This family Dress like Romans
Advantages: Good durable figures
Disadvantages: none
...I have had great trouble finding this roman family on the internet. The playmobil website http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-GB-Site/ sells them here they cost £8 and I have found them available at http://www.utoypia.com for $10.99. I have found plenty of other Roman people available easily the warriors and chariot s and a roman arena.
I have used these Playpeople when doing a topic on Romans with children,
This Roman family includes a Roman Mum Dressed in a long yellow gown her arms move and her hands are those traditional play Mobil claw hands that can hold playmobil tools. Then there is Dad with his white tunic with gold embroidery worn over his blue top and trousers. Then the children a girl wearing a yellow skirt and top with a blue stones necklace she is smiling her arms move and her head will twist from side...

Meet the stone family
Advantages: Easy to watch and an array of well known actors
Disadvantages: It isn't the most interesting film you'll ever watch
...I bought the family stone for one reason only and that was because the cast was a mix of well known faces! I know I should look for more than this but, being a Sex and the City fan I am always keen to watch anything with Sarah Jessica Parker in! Along with a variety of others who I have seen in other films and enjoyed then it was surely to be a winner wasn't it?
Released in 2005 the film was written and directed by Thomas Bezucha.
The story:
The stone family are very close knit and celebrate Christmas together every year. When the favourite son, Everett, decides to bring his girlfriend Meredith with him to meet his family it doesn't quite go to plan! He has plans to ask his mother for his grandmother's ring to propose to Meredith but, his family pretty much take an instant dislike to her and find Meredith to be too uptight...

The demise of the royle family
Advantages: fantastic humour and great banter
Disadvantages: the end is nigh
...If for some reason you have never head of the Royle family, (and I don't mean the posh ones living in London in that big house? ) then I will have to give a brief rundown of the series:
It all started in 1998, 21 episodes running for 3 series and finishing in 2000--involving the lives of a small family living in a council house somewhere near Manchester.
The entire series being filmed inside the house was almost like a fly on the wall documentary, watching the day to day lives of a working class family living on the bread line?as the family spend most of their days sat watching the television?
** The main characters throughout the series were:
* Jim Royle, (played by Ricky Tomlinson), is the head of the household and a rather lazy slob whose life revolves around the television and the local pub called the Feathers...

You'd be in safe hands here!
Advantages: good quality toy
Disadvantages: expensive
...My eldest daughter was recently six and was very excited to open a large wrapped parcel from her grandparents. Inside was this wonderful Sylvanian Familes General Hospital. This was great as the girls already have a number of items from the Sylvanian Families range so this was just adding to the collection!
Before I describe the hospital it's worth just saying a little about the Sylvanian Families range in general. It is based on various different families of very cute small animals and I am always very impressed by the quality of these. Once you have a family or two there are so many houses and furniture sets which you can buy for them so that children can make up lots of lovely adventures for them. You can view the entire range at
www.sylvanianfamilies.com
Anyway back to the general hospital. This is a 'fully equipped' hospital...
