However.... the following day the message was back. I decided that I would use the benefit of the offered live chat that came with the product and enetred a chat room. After been told I was 10th in the queue and waiting for 20 mins even though it had stated the wait was only 2 mins. I got into a conversation with Radiq who told me to completely uninstall the program and went through ways of opening folders etc to make sure that all of the previously installed versions of Symantec had gone... as he felt that this was the problem. ..., just like how they attack Microsoft Windows. Norton being the most popular antivirus program, it's only natural for virus makers to try to disable it first, but I feel that Norton should be able to defend against such attacks, especially with them being the leaders in the market and all. Every year, a new version of Norton is released and every year, the software engine is more powerful to be able to keep up with the virus makers and not allow them to disable Norton so easily. However, I've come across someone who was able to pay to renew his subscription of Norton for a 2002 version in 2004, meaning, they're not getting the appropriate protection that they have paid for since the 2002 version would be outdated, leaving the person's PC vulnerable. Once this has been done, the program gives you the opportunity to go directly to the Microsoft web page, identify the version of Windows that you use and then download a software patch to protect Windows against future invasion. I ran the program yesterday and was told that one instance of the worm had been found and deleted. I ran it again today and my system is reported to be clear. CONCLUSION This can be called a very public spirited action from Symantec in the face of a potential world wide crisis on the world wide web. It optimises performance, fixes and prevents problems, cleans out internet clutter, and recovers from system failure. There are some programs you buy to do a specific job in your daily work. This saves a user manually remembering. It has a great interface that is easy to understand and use. Big icons help the user understand what is going on along with a great help section.
