The 8800GTX elephant
Review of ASUS EN8800GTX AquaTank/HTDP by
neo1983
Advantages: Best performance, water cooling, great bundle, limited edition
Disadvantages: High price, noisy, high power consumption, takes a lot of space
...▀ ▀ ▀ A small introduction to the 8800 family. ▀ ▀ ▀
The 8800 family was the first video card family in the world based on Microsoft unified shader Direct3D 10 Shader Model 4.0 / OpenGL 2.0 architecture. Boosting 681 million transistors (by comparision ,Intel best dual core processor intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 has "only" 291 million transistors) and 128 Shader Processing units (96 for the 8800 GTS version) this card surpassed the latest king the ATI Radeon X1900XTX and is now the fastest card on the market. Great job NVIDIA !
►►►Why did I tested this card the ASUS EN8800GTX AquaTank/HTDP !?◄◄◄
This is simple. I test this card because is the first water cooled card based on the great Nvidia chipset the 8800GTX that arrived in one of my friends...

Excellent 8800GT cooler
Review of Zerotherm Hurricane HC92 8800 VGA Cooler by
esluggage
Advantages: Easy to install, affordable, very effective
Disadvantages: Large unit
...I bought myself an 8800GT 512MB some time ago now, and regularly suffered from the graphics drivers failing whilst in game, and I couldn't find a solution. I tried all sorts to no avail, but then as summer (or what we pass off as a summer here in good old England) approached the problems got even worse, and I discovered why. My 8800GT was over heating, and badly. For example, running Call of Duty 4 on low settings, the gpu would reach temperatures of 74C, and on higher settings it would reach 90C before the images would start to artifact (which basically means the graphics break, badly). I even raised the fan speed of the card to its maximum woth very little effect.
I decided that I could not do without games for too long so looked into various after market coolers to spend my hard earned birthday money on. I opted for the Zerotherm...

The Super 8800 GS XXX ALPHA DOG EDITION
Review of XFX GeForce 8800 GS XXX Version by
darkness120
Advantages: everything
Disadvantages: not to use high resolutions greater than 1600*1200
...The fantastic graphics card from XFX the 8800 GS XXX edition, this card is insane and I personally recomend it to everyone who wants to play games but not spending a lot of money. Fantastic results coming from this card on 3DMARK gets around 10000, on the 8800 GS the clocks are 580Mhz core, 1400Mhz memory but this one is the XXX edition running at 680Mhz core, 1600Mhz memory a little bit faster, this one gets better results and is perfect for those people that are not sure how to overclock it or don't trust overclocking it, this is a factory overclock so is tested and is perfect stable you won't have any problems with this card. For advanced gamers the card is tottaly overclockable so if you want to push a little bit further than it already is you can without a problem, my friend has this card running at 740Mhz core and 2070 memory he...

8800GTS wonder
Review of BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC by
rbell5ciao
Advantages: excellent all round
Disadvantages: physically big
...28C MB 36C, after 15mins
gaming it increases to CPU 38C, MB39C (ambient temperature = 20C).
I have read of these temperatures being over 70C so guess my fans are doing a adequate job.
This version is the "OC" version that is factory overclocked. This means it runs at higher spec than normal.
Look at the specs. (obtained from www)
>Normal card< Core Clock Speed 500mhz, Shader Clock Speed 1200Mhz, Memory Clock Speed 1600Mhz
>This OC version< Core Clock Speed 580mhz, Shader Clock Speed 1350Mhz, Memory Clock Speed 1700Mhz
As you can see this card is running faster than the normal card in fact it looks like its nearly same, or better, than the
8800GTX 320mb that has a Core Clock Speed of 575Mhz. However I believe that anything that is overclocked has potential to run hotter.
<installation>
The card fits into one pci express...

Graphics to make you Smirk like Elvis
Review of BFG GeForce 8800 GTS by
FlameDruid
Advantages: Smooth and powerful
Disadvantages: Power hungry, large.
...This is a review of the BFG 8800GTS 640MB graphics card which is so good you could almost forget you had one.
When I was planning my super-monster Uber-PC I looked high and low for the best possible components and hopefully, after a few months, the technological landscape hasn't changed so completely as to make my decision irrelevant. That can happen. A graphics card that is rated highly in all tests and which shines in comparative tables all over the Internet can be forgotten within months. My Geforce 4 Ti-4600 was once 'the fastest card in the world', my Nvidia 6800 Pro was much better until it failed through heat-exhaustion, and even my BFG 8800GTS could have a shelf life of mere months before becoming obsolete. I'll look it up for you in a moment to check!
Nvidia made two main types of card designated 8800. There's an XTX...

You can't beat it - even with the 9XXX series
Review of BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC2 by
ClockworkUniverse42
Advantages: Great speed, the best for high resolution gaming, lifetime warrent + great customer support from BFG
Disadvantages: Hot & can be loud, a large card (27cm)
...The 8800GTX card from Nvidia has long been established as one of the best single-GPU cards in existence - in fact, the only single-GPU card that beats it is the 9800GTX, which has its own drawbacks, as I will explain below.
So how does the BFG 8800GTX OC2 differ from the rest of the menagerie that is the 8800GTX family? Well, first of all, it has significantly higher clock speeds, giving you great performance gains over both standard clocked brands, and many of the other stock overclocked brands. It is nearly at the top of the food chain as far as 8800GTX speeds go. As for how it competes in real-world gaming, I can play any game at full graphics settings with this beast of a graphics card, and every one of those with full anisotropic filtering, and at least some level of antialising (the latter on all games save for Crysis...

Sparkle 8800gts review
Review of SPARKLE SF-PX88GTS by
Agent851
Advantages: Fast, stable,
Disadvantages: Noisy when starting, heat emiting
... Sparkle GeForce 8800 GTS
I have this card (Sparkle 8800gts) for 6 months now and I'm happy with it. It's stable, fast, quiet and quite nice. When playing games (Call of Duty4: Modern Warfare; F.E.A.R. ; Colin McRae: Dirt etc.) with highest detail settings the FPS (frames per second) is at very high level. Also 8800gts has an overclocking reserve (you can overclock 20% and the card is still stable). The GTS supports: DirectX10 for better graphics quality, SLI technology which allows you to use 2 GPU's in one computer for better performance and dual monitor mode which is handy when working with photo editors. However this card is long and fat (uses two slots in computer case), it needs additional power cable and when starting it test's cooling system(it's quite annoying) and then makes a lot of noise.
I suggest to buy...

Why get a 3870 instead of 8800gt and 8800gts
Review of Sapphire RADEON HD 3870 by
ysith
Advantages: Plays all current games at max quality (except crysis)
Disadvantages: New 4870 is coming out in june, if you can wait for that
...A very, very good graphics card.
I have made numerous computers in the past and it was never really that hard choosing which graphics card to go for, there was one that would fit my budget and give good performace. However with the recent introduction of the (cards decending in price and performance, highest to lowest) nVidia 8800gts, nVidia 8800gt, ATI 3870 and ATI 3850, there are so many cards that are targeted at the midrange. And now nVidia has also introduced the 9600gt still aimed at the midrange, so the question is which has the best price versus performance? And the answer - they are all pretty much the same, the more you pay the better card you get so is it worth the extra cash for the more expensive card? No, only one game will see benefit from it and that is crysis (which is playable with this card). The only reason to get...

Amazing Card
Review of BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC by
tamss
Advantages: Looks amazing and good cooling Easy to Install
Disadvantages: None
...The BFG 8800 GTS 320MB is a great card for any PC gamer. It works amazingly in my set up consisting of Asus P5B Motherboard, Corsair HX 520w Modular Power Supply, Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, Geil 2GB Ultra PC2-6400 RAM, 320GB Samsung Spinpoint and the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro.
<INSTALLATION>
The 8800 GTS is easy to install and takes up two expansion slots on the back of a case its easy to put in and connect its 4 pin connector to the power supply which was easy to find. The card is supplied with 2 DVI to VGA converters for those who use dual displays. It comes with a Driver disc which also has the manual on i downloaded the drivers so I can't comment on wether these drivers work. It also comes with a few stickers to put on your case and an X-L BFG T-Shirt.
<PEFORMANCE>
The GTS is a great graphics card recently i downloaded a demo...

Wait a while before spending your money.
Review of EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS by
Xlixen
Advantages: DirectX-10 Support, SLI Enabled, Perfect for Vista.
Disadvantages: Expensive, DX10 Still untested.
...The Geforce 8800GTS is the younger of the new 8-series NVidia family. This certain product comes from EVGA - A company formed in 1999, who have risen in popularity enormously over recent years.
EVGA are renowned for their great products, and great warranties.
The GTS is a lot cheaper for a reason. The differences are completely different to the usual clock speed variations, with only 3/4 of the amount of stream processors, and they are slower clocked too.
In fact, The GTS and the GTX have even more differences - The GTX is huge - requiring 2 PCI-E connectors just to power it! while the GTS still only needs the one. It also only has 640mb onboard memory compared to the 768mb on the GTX. However, the card is still huge - at 230mm long.
The huge heatsink and fan on the card don't make too much noise, although will be very...
