Barcode Scanner That Works
Review of Symbol SPT 1550 by
Dexter2102
Advantages: Extremely User Friendly
Disadvantages: The "BEEP" when you confirm a scan
...This Symbol SPT 1550 is the best scanner around in an area flooded with similar products. This device is extremely lightweight compared to its competitors and ease of use is second to none. The scanner itself allows you to read barcode labels with extreme ease some scanners on the market ensure you have to be right next to the barcode for it to register but with the Symbol SPT 1550 it allows you to scan from a distance and scan hard to reach barcodes. The product also has touch screen GUI making it extremely user friendly the further you venture into the menus and sub menus you can never get lost due to the aptly named home icon.In terms of memory for this device i once scanned 1200 items in an initial audit i was doing and it had no problems in terms of slowing up....

Are you barcoded?
Review of The Barcode Tattoo - Suzanne Weyn by
Jonni_boi
Advantages: very gripping!
Disadvantages: Rubbish ending
...To Start off with, I started to enjoy this book. It drawed me in and made me read it intensely! I will not tell you the problem I have with it just yet!
The start
************
The starting of a book always set's the scene. We are following a girl called Kayla Reed in America. The First Chapter, we are in with her and the principal talking. And then somewhere along the line we find out she has no dad and she has to look after her mom, who's in one terrible state! She has no job therefore Kayla's just about keeping the bills together.
Then Amber Thorn jumps in showing off her new TATTOO called the Barcode tattoo. And she explains why you can't keep a card and use it...
What does Kayla do?
*******************************
Well I can't really tell you that except the barcode Tattoo freaks her out! Does she get it or not? Well...

aquamark handheld steam cleaner
Review of Aquamark Handheld Steam Cleaner by
scribbelle
Advantages: low price,easy to store
Disadvantages: not powerful enough
...I purchased an aquamark handheld steam cleaner because I primarily wanted to clean my filthy stainless steel cookertop and my oven,I also thought that it would be useful to help me tackle a lot of other household chores.
I opted for the handheld version because they are a lot cheaper that the larger models and I dont have an awful lot of storage space.
The product comes with a number of different attachments for different types of job. There is a large hollow brush for upholstery, two smaller brushes labelled a and b to use for stubborn stains on for example work surfaces and bathroom surfaces..the labelling allows you to have a separate brush for these two rooms and is more hygienic. A small "sockette" made from elasticated towelling is provided and this slips over a triangular shaped head and is desingned for use on delicate areas ie...

HP iPaq Enterprise Handheld
Review of HP iPAQ 214 Enterprise Handheld by
John369
Advantages: Easy to use.
Disadvantages: None yet. Will update.
...I have just joined Ciao community to put the record straight on this PDA. A previous Ciao reviewer has given a negative review. I have only owned the PDA (HP iPaq 214 Enterprise Handheld) for two days. I believe I was one of the first in the UK to receive this machine as it became available from 25th January 2008. I was almost put off buying the iPaq by the other review here, but decided to give it a try. I am glad, as the PDA does everything a PDA should and at a very good speed and price. The other review here is definitely not for the iPaq 214. How did he get it some months before anyone else? The description bears no resemblance to my iPaq 214. The reviewer says the camera is appalling and defunct - it does not have a camera at all, so that clears that up. It does have 128 MB SDRAM and 256MB flash ROM, mine also came with 1GB SD card...

Meet My New Handheld Partner
Review of HP iPAQ Pocket PC Hx4700 by
Deru
Advantages: Fast, High spec, Sharp Screen, many accessories, CF and SD card slots, Looks great.
Disadvantages: Expensive price tag, less RAM than older model, Touch Pad
...HX4700
The HP iPAQ HX4700 is a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). In other words, it's a handheld computer. One would be able to use it as an organiser, word processor, MP3 player, gaming device, etc. Basically, most of the things a current PC or laptop would be capable of. The American version is the HX4705 but is identical in every way as far as I know.
WHY I CHOSE THE HX4700?
I had previously owned a HP iPAQ H5550 PDA, so stuck with the HP brand rather than go for a brand like Dell. Asus and many other companies also make PDAs and build quality varies but you can't go wrong with HP on build quality. Another option would have been to go for a PDA running the PALM operating system (OS) but the programs I want to use may not be compatible. The HX4700 runs the Pocket PC OS rather than PALM (Think Microsoft Windows vs. Linux...

Scannerz
Review of Wasp Barcode Technologies Barcode scanner by
jacqui_1
Advantages: Fast, Efficient, Saves paper work & Easy to use
Disadvantages: You may not really need this gadget
...This review has been moved to Member Advice Category. Please read and rate there as this will soon be permanently removed by Ciao.
Many thanks to the members of Ciao for pointing out this was an unsuitable category and for letting me know how to have this changed.
Since my opinion about the Belkin USB Hub I have been asked by a great many Ciao members what barcode scanning is, how it works and what I use it for.
With these questions in mind, I have decided to write this opinion to cover the various equipment I use. I will not dwell as usual on the technical stuff as you already know I myself don’t understand half of it anyway. Instead I prefer to cover the basics and the various applications they have.
I will start by explaining why I have bar coding apparatus. I run my own business on the internet. I also use various...

Everything you need to know about the N95
Review of Nokia N95 by
runonthespot
Advantages: It does what it says on the tin (and more)
Disadvantages: Battery life could be better.
...features, and thusfar, have had none with the N95. The symbian element means it’s relatively easy to do fancy things like take a picture, look up a contact or calendar entry or even log onto a web page, all while mid call! The screen is one of the best I’ve seen on any handheld device, and the form factor of the phone is slightly smaller than my old N80, and quite sexy (my wife, ever the style junkie agrees). In fact, picking up my old N80 last night felt like I was stepping back 5 years.
Texting is predictably good, Nokia dictionary is easy to add to, input styles can be switched, symbols (including a new-line character finally!) inserted etc. I was quite impressed to see if you choose input language as “French” for example it has a French dictionary associated and correctly accents letters. Maybe this is a common feature in modern...

Beepless bonuses and barcoded bunce
Review of Fact Finders by
netstation
Advantages: Almost something for nothing
Disadvantages: Adds about ten minutes to a shopping trip
...’s in the box?
A Scanner, not surprising really! This is a hand held unit about the size of two cigarette packets placed end to end. It has a small LCD screen, number and function keypads, and a built in barcode reader.
A base station into which the scanner is placed when not in use, about the size of a paperback book stood on its spine. This needs a socket nearby as it incorporates the battery charger for the scanner, and a telephone point to allow Fact Finders to call the unit and upload all the data collected, they may also download data but I’ll come to that in a minute. It’s important to note that Fact Finders pay for the calls. The only cost to the Panel Member is the electricity for the charger, which is probably too small to calculate. The unit is called about three in the morning on Sunday and apart from the occasional short “jangle...
