...is called root and one using another name. This is so that you can have control over your computer and not install troublesome software incorrectly which would interfere with the Operating system. However, In Ubuntu 5.10, you are the Administrator by default and have only one login box. To install anything in the root folder, you must type Sudo before you do ,this gives you time to think about wether you want to install to the root folder or just into your own user folders which is safer. When you first log in you are on the desktop which is called gnome ,in Breezy Badger (5.10's nick name) it is brownish and has a menu along the top. Advantages: Excellent insight into 'real' software engineering
Disadvantages: too many errata to the course texts

...This year (2000) has been the first presentation of M301. New courses always have their teething problems and M301 is no exception. By far the biggest problem has ben the number of errata to the course material literally hundreds of them! However, it is an excellent course. It covers basic JAVA and UML (Unified Modelling Language) and uses these to present an excellent insight into the huge subject of software engineering. Some of the tools used on the course are the same as those used by large companies to develop enormous software systems (like home-banking systems) and so you get a good 'real-feel' factor with this course. The material supplied is extensive and is hugely augmented by a lot of online content - even the assignments are submitted and marked online. ..., transport and make backups of programs. 4 Norton crashguard is supposed to to protect against P C crashes and screen freezes but i find it is not very good at all. 5 Norton web services tries to keep your system up to date by checking through the internet for hardware drivers and software updates and does not a bad job. The complete package is kept up to date through the live update internet link. All in all this is a very good package and have I bought all 3 updates there as been. Do not buy each product seperatly you will save yourself around a £100 buying this complete product. This is a must buy package.... Read review
