The Canon PIXMA IP1800 and the end of the world
Advantages: Cheap and replaceable. Attractive and efficient technology.
Disadvantages: Ink costs more than the machine. Potential ecological mayhem.
...My new Canon PIXMA IP1800 replaces my Canon PIXMA IP1600 so the planet may be doomed and It could be my fault.
My Canon PIXMA IP1600 had nothing wrong with it. It wasn't broken. The pictures spilled out on glossy paper at A4 ready for framing. The text was crisp and black. I'd had it for a year or so. It was cheap yet efficient and as good as any printer I'd ever owned. It had no tray to catch paper coming out but otherwise was printing perfectly and I've been delighted with it. This is partly why I bought the Canon PIXMA IP1800 which is also excellent. But why bother? They're almost the same machine!
The ink is running out on my old printer and, bizarrely, new cartridges would cost more than a brand new one. My wife was furious.
She looked at the packets of ink cartridges with a shop assistant because she didn't believe me...

proline vacuum vc1800
Advantages: it is bagless, and light for stairs
Disadvantages: extension poles are cheap plastic
...1800 watts and I have found it to fairly powerful for what i need it to do. It will do laminate floors you just adjus the height of the floorbrush. You can also adjust the suction if it is too strong and is pulling up your carpet.
It does come with an instruction booklet which does cover all the basics which you need to know.
The only thing that I don't like is that there is no where to place the tools on the hoover for storage, you can hook the floorbrush onto the back of the hoover when finised but there is nowhere to put the other tools....

x1800 awsome, but its too late
Advantages: awsome performance, awsome graphics
Disadvantages: direct x 9 whereas direct x 10 is now out on vista
...The card arrives, the box opens, a whole host of cables fall out, but you dont care about that and there on center stage the Radeon X1800 XT!
When i played my first game with this card i was just amazed, the performace was awsome the graphics were awsome! games that used to look dull were now vibrant and brilliantly shaded. Being able to play games on full graphics was beautiful!!
Now im not going to go through all the specs as you can find these easy enough on the connect3d website or even here on ciao. What i will say is a bit about my experience.
When i bought this card it was a real kick in the pocket, but once i had it up and running it was a dream come true! With the vivo (video in video out) feature you can use it as a capture card.
Make sure if you are going to buy this card that you have a spare slot below your pci...

Living with a powercolor x1800 gto
Advantages: reasonably priced and quite powerful graphics card
Disadvantages: Is now a fairly old product line
...I bought my x1800gto about 9 months ago now and I have to say that when I first got it I was very impressed. There were plenty of cables for different monitors as well as 2 dongles to convert dvi to vga. There was no software included, but I wasn't particularly bothered about that as I have all the software and games I will ever need.
So, down to business, the x1800 gto is a cheap card that delivers very good performance imho. Not one to buy if you want ridiculously high resolutions in your games, but a solid performer at 1280x1024 on all but the most demanding games. If you want an easy solution for crossfire then you should think about this as you don't need a crossfire master! Simply purchase two of these cards and drop them into a crossfire capable motherboard and off you go! Also, this is not too bad a card for overclocking, I...

T0715 for Epson printers
Advantages: cheaper to buy 4 but can also buy singly
Disadvantages: you have to look around for the cheapest as prices do vary
...The inks are
Black T0711
Cyan T0712
Magenta T0713
Yellow T0714
Each pack comes in a vacuum wrapping and it is worth to not open until you need it.
To use you just pull off the yellow strip and just drop it into your printer. It really is as simple as that. Instructions do say to shake the ink cartridge 4 or 5 times before putting it in but I have forgotten to do that and panic stations, but it made absolutely no difference that I could see but perhaps I was just lucky.
These cartridges cannot be refilled and I have not yet seen any recycling place that it happy to receive them - probably just because they cannot be refilled.
How long do they last? Well that is like how long is a piece of string as it really does depend on the amount of printing that you do. The colours are all sharp and good though.
Summary
It...

T & C
Advantages: A great challenge from Coolaskaha
Disadvantages: A corny response
...Coolaskaha has authored this challenge, and Christianfilmcritic did a good version of it.
In my twisted sense of humour, I saw opportunities to make my pals groan - so here we go.!
1. ITV or BBC?
It was neither - I promise you - when I didn't turn up for church that week, I was genuinely sick, and I was not watching ITV or BBC, not even UKTV? I was really sick.
2. Sunny or Rainy?
Of course its rainy at the moment.! How can you possibly ask if its sunny, when this is spring time in Ireland
3. Cat or Dog?
I would be quite prepared to eat either actually, and think that I probably have at some time or other; but if you are offering them in a stir fry with crispy noodles, I think the cat may be more tender, thanks.
4. Cod or Haddock?
I've been sitting on the beach for three hours today, and I haven't caught anything yet, so...

T erffic Mobile
Advantages: Good Coverage, Excllent Customer Services, Excellent Price Plans
Disadvantages: none
..., taking photo?s, picture messaging and all manner of things. In order to take full advantage of your mobile phones capabilities you need a network provider that can pull it off. It would be like having a top of the range DVD player but having no television player to watch it on.
A mobile phone is no use without a network provider offering you the service you need to meet all your requirements, T-Mobile is one of the worlds leading mobile communication companies and they can provide a service that is second to none and suitable for everyone.
A good network/service provider should have something for everyone. The main contenders are, Orange, O2 (previously Cellnet) Vodaphone, Virgin and T-Mobile (previously one2one) they all have different tariffs, price plans and special offers to entice its customers. The question is, can they deliver...

AMD's Athlon XP 1800+
Advantages: Good performance for the price
Disadvantages: none, but perhaps a little long in the tooth now.
...it before, but if you haven't installed a cpu before then check out a guide online. be careful, as many athlon heatsink/fan combinations (you will need one of these) are heavy, and fiddly to fit (e.g. poorly designed). athlon cores can also be quite fragile (some people have cracked them) so take it slow.
you will need:
the cpu
some high quality thermal paste (e.g. arctic silver, cooler master)
a heatsink/fan (i recommend the vantec aeroflow i am using now - cool and quiet).
a screwdriver (for levering the heatsink/fan, no doubt)
>configuration<
set your fsb (front side bus) speed to 133mhz in your bios (e.g press 'delete' or whatever at startup).
the cpu multiplier will be set automatically (this sets the speed your cpu runs at). see below.
>performance<
the performance is good, although as can be expected it is...

Is the "T" for Terrible customer service?
Advantages: Good coverage.....
Disadvantages: Poor customer service
...!! I don't do that kind of thing of course or have Dempsey type looks to attract 5 women at once, but just as an example. The flext 35 plan could provide you with;
* 0 minutes of calls per month / 1800 texts each month
OR
* 450 minutes of calls per month / 900 texts each month
OR
* 900 minutes of calls per month / 0 texts each month
OR
* any combination of calls and texts that utilises the allowance.
My first telephone bill was received on 29 July 2006 at a value of £107.23, which surprised me somewhat considering the text info. message I had previously received from T-Mobile informed me that I had plenty of credit on my flext allowance.
Due to a busy schedule and holiday proceeding 29 July 2006, I did not make any contact with T-Mobile to question this. However, in my mind, there was clear misrepresentation in terms...

From the company that makes the earth move! ..
Advantages: Makes twigs and the like easy to compost.
Disadvantages: Cost is about the only disadvantage..
...When you hear the title JCB, you automatically think of Joseph Cyril Bamford - indeed that is the same company that makes these shredders. The firm was set up in 1945 at the end of the war. They are world famous (based in 150 countries) for making heavy earth moving equipment, and now are setting their sights on smaller bits of kit, in this case, the humble garden shredder.
As already stated, the company has depots all over the world, they are a state of the art, high profile company who keep up with the times. The range of spare parts available is around 80%, this compares very well with other firms.
The shredder itself, is called the GS 1800, which is a little strange, as Black & Decker akso have a shredder called the GS 1800. I did at first think the two firms were sharing the same model, just different badges, but this is not...
