HP DV6000 - Great value for money!

...I really like this laptop and would recommend it to anyone looking for a budget notebook to give them access to the Internet, decent games and a workstation. I picked up the DV6000 in the UK for around the 400-pound mark and it has served me well as a desktop replacement while working abroad. It looks good and feels good with a tactile silky texture, has a 15.4 inch high-resolution screen that is easy on the eyes and has decent in-built speakers which I found fine for gaming. It has good specs for a notebook, which can handle even fairly demanding modern games (it has an Nvidia GeForce Go 7500). By way of example, I played Neverwinter Nights 2 on the DV6000; whilst I did have to turn most of the graphic settings right down, the game ran fine and was fully playable (and Neverwinter Nights 2 is known as a fairly demanding game). Road Angel6000

Advantages: Speed Camera Detector, Hold onto windscreen well
Disadvantages: Slow to start, load routes and enitially gain a satalite signal

...Bought one of these when tomtom was lent to my parents, is not as good as i'd expected, slow to load routes, start and get satalite fix. Also the menu is very complicated and doesn't appear to charge very well. Has sent us some weird routes to get to our destination but i think thats a general satalite navigation thing with all brands as most of them use the same mapping systems. On he good side it does have a good holder for sticking it to the windscreen although it is rather large. The best bit has to be the speed camera detector has never failed yet allows plenty of time for breaking sometimes before we have even seen the camera. Has a effective sound to warn you of cameras and tells you what speed limit applies for the area which the speed camera is in. Also has a usefull anti glare night mode. I wouldn't recommend...

...I bought a road angel navigator 6000 a little over a year ago now, i got it second hand for £50 as it had no sd card that contain the maps included, i was quite happy as my friend had one of these with the sd card so i figured i could just make a copy of his card, insert it and away i go. This is what i did and hey presto off we go no problem at all. To be honest i don't actually find the 6000 to bad although i notice a few people have come up with some horror stories regards the software not giving them the correct information. Its a simple basic machine that does what it says it does. I have used it on several occassions when travelling round glasgow, edinburgh and birmingham and find it to be of satisfactory use. Ok so there are a few bad points to it but you almost come to expect this with everything in this day and age...

...Until the 'fatal error' blue screen flashed up for the first time a few weeks later, and the laptop decided it had no hard drive anymore. After several more hours on the phone to Dell, the problem seemed to have sorted itself, and I was basically told to forget about it, the problem was sorted. I'll give Dell this, their tech support is pretty good - they couldn't solve the problem but it wasn't for want of trying. I spent several hours on the phone to them (at my expense), they rang me back for a couple more hours, then there was e-mail support and case follow-ups. LG6000 is a great priced top performer with some annoyances

Advantages: Great picture quality for price. Sound not too bad either
Disadvantages: Poor control layout and long-winded EPG operation

Bass is deeper than most LCDs. I had to play with the sound a lot to get it just right. Features: Wow. So many features. You will never want to so fully explore every minute setting. Thankfully some presets are not so in-depth and give you the rawness of settings such as contrast and colour. This TV gives you control over pretty much every aspect of the picture. Not only the picture, but the sound has the basic graphic EQ, plus a speech booster (something that we would all appreciate when watching a film with too much bass and whispering voices). Moving on, the DX6000 also has a pull out tray which folds back neatly into place, again protecting the interior of the device from unwanted dust. You can print on an A4 sheet of paper, or alternatively, you can print on a envelope. This is great if you can't be bothered to write the address on all those Christmas card envelopes. If you want to print out on an envelope then pull out the tray and there is a switch in there to change it to print on an envelope in you wish. The buttons on the printer on the left hand side panel seem confusing and are a bit hard to work out, but then again, if you took the time to read the instructions in full it might make things a little easier.
