...Roche Abbey is situated on the A634 about halfway between Maltby and Oldcoates in South Yorkshire. I lived in this area for a while when I was 18-19 it was the first time I had lived away from home, although the area was familiar to me as most of my mums family are spread between Rotherham and Retford. So this is the route I used to travel regularly when going to various relatives houses, usually for my dinner (I was a bit skint!). ★ Directions: Take junction 32 from the M1 leading onto the M18. ...If you have an interest in lilies you will love this book. The illustrations are in superb colour and are large enough to be useful in identification of species. Before getting this book I knew that lilies were categorised into many groups from 1a to 10 or more but I hadn't a clue what the groups meant, or even how many there were. This book explains all of that along with species, crosses and hybrids. It includes information about dwarf varieties and turks caps, it explains the difference between basal-rooting and stem-rooting types, and gives advice on care and planting. Advantages: Too many to name - you'll have to read the opinion I'm afraid.
Disadvantages: Perth, the capital, is very remote so too many people fail to visit WA.

We had been advised to visit Bluff Knoll which supposedly offered the best views of the ranges themselves and the surrounding area, a one hour arduous climb, 634 vertical metres later and we had reached the 1073m summit of the highest peak in the range. After several minutes of anticipating some manner of heart and/or lung failure I was able to take in the view which made the climb well worth the effort. Unfortunately the overcast day prevented any sun and so a dark and moody mountain range and surrounding landscape was the imposing view. A far less energetic and exhausting descent followed after we had sufficiently soaked up the scenery and a return to Albany that included a scary near miss with an inquisitive kangaroo.
