Palm Treo 680
Advantages: Small and well made, Palm OS
Disadvantages: a bit fiddly
...This is a well thought-out device with a good touch sensitive screen and a surprisingly usable keyboard, even for people like me, with fat fingers. I have used Palm OS PDAs for many years so I have a lot of data and applications from previous devices that I want to maintain and I was keen to stay with the Palm OS operating system rather than switch to Windows at this stage. It was easy to move the Treo 680 from my Palm T5 without any loss of data. Now I only need to carry one device instead of a PDA and a phone. The stylus is a bit fiddly to use when compared to the chunky T5 one, but then the stylus is not needed as much given that the keyboard replaces the need for text entry with the stylus.
The operating system is easy to use and syncs without any problems to my old iMac (Mac OS X version 10.2.8) In the few months I have owned...

JVC Everio GZ-MG680 BEK HDD camcorder
Advantages: Very good size and quite easy to use at an excellent price.
Disadvantages: Pixmania inefficiency
...the customer service department agreed to ask 'Head Office' to try and waive this standard procedure and ring or email us back. We are still waiting! We spent about £9.00 on a new SD card from Lowpricememory.com to solve our problem. If Pixmania ever get back to us I will update this review. All told, if you can put up with the inefficiency at Pixmania then you can get products at a very good price. As for durability, we don;t know yet but I can't publish without ticking the box....

Treo 680 Smartphone
Advantages: Small, Light. easy to use and sync with desktop
Disadvantages: Slippery to hold but silicone case solves that
...Having been a PDA user for many years now, I decided to go for a smartphone on my next upgrade as carrying both a PDA & a phone around in places where I don't take my handbag ( like walking the dog in the park or going to the beach while on holiday) was begining to be a chore.
The Treo 680 is small, light and slim enough to go in your pocket and with the keyguard activated there is no fear of making an unscheduled phone call by mistake! I have a silver one but it has now been launched in a bright red colour in this country!
Phone calls can be made directly from the contacts pages and there are all the items like missed calls, dialled calls, and received calls lists to help keep track of your phone bill. Also one can programme different ringtones for each group of contacts so you can tell who is calling before you get to pick up...

Handspring, PalmOne TREO 680
Advantages: It's the new Treo 650! But it's a 680!
Disadvantages: None
...better than the Nokia attempts of "Menu", "Profiles", "Personalise", "Select" etc etc (although the last time I had a Nokia was the mid-1930's, so maybe they've moved on).
You can select which buttons perform which function on your Treo 68-, E-mail, Web, Calendar, Contacts, Images etc etc.
Although the keyboard remains small, the buttons are deceptively easy to use... even if you have pie fingers.
Unlike the other phones I have had recently that use those mini SD cards, Treo 680 remains with the "big" SD card and it is easily accessible at the top of the unit, meaning - unlike my old Nokia - you don't have to power down, remove the casing, take the battery out, drill a hole, kill the guards etc etc.
Programs allow you to listen you your music on the music player, the internet (with the pen is SOOOOO easy to use) and Docs To Go is...

Epson 680, It's just a joke
Advantages: Not bad quality print
Disadvantages: VEry poor alround printer
...I decided to write this opinion after experiencing dissatisfaction from purchasing the Epson 680 inkjet printer.
When buying my most recent pc, I wanted a printer as part of the bundle. I had, had an Epson 600 inkjet printer from some years now an had been very pleased with it, it was strong, reliable and gave a good print quality at acceptable speeds.
So when asked what printer I would like, with no hesitation I chose the new Epson 680 thinking it was to generation above mine (640 and 680) I though that there would be an improvement, and if there wasn’t then as long as it was as good as my 600 then I would be happy.
But no suck luck, I have come to realise that Epson have come to change the way in which they make printers. The Epson 680 is far worse quality wise that the 600, the printer is light, made of thinner plastic...

Samsung sgh680
Advantages: good reception & battery life, small, light, good phonebook
Disadvantages: poor camera, little memory
...I've owned one of these for about 6 months , I have been pleased with the reception, sound quality, size, battery life and general durability.
Not so good points are camera quality and memory size. Also, the preloaded ringtones are a quite limited and pretty pathetic. Thank goodness it comes with bluetooth, I've managed to blag a few more more.
The most annoying thing about it it, however, is that almost every time I take the camera out of my pocket, the camera is operating. I often have 20 or 30 lovely photographs of total darkness. Apart from the annoyance of having to delete these, it is obviously affecting battery life. Mind you, with its poor performance, you wouldn't buy this as a camera anyway.
With its very small memory, you wouldn't want it as an MP3 player either. About half a dozen tracks, if you don't store any...

The Epson 680 is Bad Value
Advantages: Cheap printer
Disadvantages: VERY expensive ink, poor mechanics, DO NOT BUY EPSON
...you into the original supplier.
However, a Google search will show that:
a) there are alternative suppliers of compatible cartridges for microchipped models. We've used them with no problems and no destroyed print heads. Compare prices and probably don't buy the cheapest as there is a difference in ink quality - although I haven't seen any containing sand, as Epson would have you believe!
b) there are ways of mechanically resetting the printer to trick it with a refilled cartridge.
c) there is a program on the internet that re-sets the printer to think it has a new cartridge.
d) at least one UK supplier has a small electronic gizmo that re-programs the chip for the Epson 680.
Whilst my opinion is directed at the Epson 680 the suggestions made will be useful when considering other brands....

T0715 for Epson printers
Advantages: cheaper to buy 4 but can also buy singly
Disadvantages: you have to look around for the cheapest as prices do vary
...The inks are
Black T0711
Cyan T0712
Magenta T0713
Yellow T0714
Each pack comes in a vacuum wrapping and it is worth to not open until you need it.
To use you just pull off the yellow strip and just drop it into your printer. It really is as simple as that. Instructions do say to shake the ink cartridge 4 or 5 times before putting it in but I have forgotten to do that and panic stations, but it made absolutely no difference that I could see but perhaps I was just lucky.
These cartridges cannot be refilled and I have not yet seen any recycling place that it happy to receive them - probably just because they cannot be refilled.
How long do they last? Well that is like how long is a piece of string as it really does depend on the amount of printing that you do. The colours are all sharp and good though.
Summary
It...

Epson Stylus 680
Advantages: Good printing speed and quality
Disadvantages: Dodgy paper tray, ink doesn't last too long
...The Epson Stylus 680 is my first colour printer and I believe it was a good choice to make. The design is quite attractive with plenty of curves and a compact size. Printing speed is pretty good with a maximum of 7 pages per minute being possible in black ink. Colour printing is a bit slower with 3 or 4 pages per minute being possible. The quality of printing is amazing, I have copied CD labels and photo's and they look spot on.The only downside I have noticed so far is that the ink doesn't seem to last long. The printer is easy to install and therfore easy to operate.New ink cartridges are hard to find and are also quite expensive. I would recommend it as depending on where you look it is pretty good value for money....

T & C
Advantages: A great challenge from Coolaskaha
Disadvantages: A corny response
...Coolaskaha has authored this challenge, and Christianfilmcritic did a good version of it.
In my twisted sense of humour, I saw opportunities to make my pals groan - so here we go.!
1. ITV or BBC?
It was neither - I promise you - when I didn't turn up for church that week, I was genuinely sick, and I was not watching ITV or BBC, not even UKTV? I was really sick.
2. Sunny or Rainy?
Of course its rainy at the moment.! How can you possibly ask if its sunny, when this is spring time in Ireland
3. Cat or Dog?
I would be quite prepared to eat either actually, and think that I probably have at some time or other; but if you are offering them in a stir fry with crispy noodles, I think the cat may be more tender, thanks.
4. Cod or Haddock?
I've been sitting on the beach for three hours today, and I haven't caught anything yet, so...
