ACER 17" TFT MONITOR FROM THEIR LCD VALUE LINE
Review of Acer AL1711 by
inycon2
Advantages: Good value, lots of adjustable features
Disadvantages: Poor viewing angles
.... The monitor comes with some easy to follow set up instructions and a disc for downloading which contains a User's Manual, Quick Guide and Acrobat Reader.
Space is limited on the landing where I had decided to house the computer system, so I had to buy quite a narrow workstation. Having a flat screen has allowed plenty of room for a keyboard, printer, scanner, speakers and mouse mat with space left over for writing and reading books and completing household paperwork.
Acer have three ranges of monitor: Prestige Line, Office Line, Value Line - with the Prestige Line obviously being the most expensive. Screen sizes go from 15", which I would say was too small, to 20" - rather large for general use. A 17" inch is ample for the everyday user, if you have a little extra cash or wish to use your computer for watching TV or DVD's then the 19...

Toshiba's top of the line notebook
Review of Toshiba Tecra S1 - Pentium M 1.7 GHz - 15" TFT by
jcakoh
Advantages: Sleek design, very powerful, reliable, large screen and typical premium quality as expected from Toshiba
Disadvantages: Heavy and a little large. this is a very protable lap top but you can't exactly throw it around due to it's weight and slightly larger then normal size
...Toshiba is probably the most credible and reputable maker of notebook computers. The Tecra S1 is one of Toshiba's top of the line notebooks.
The notebook is very stylishly designed, better looking than Sony's notebooks in my opinion. The only bad points about the design is that the surface is easer to scratch then the softer surfaces of notebooks made by Dell or Acer, but this isn't a big worry.
The speakers, keyboard, pointing devices (2 of them), and power button are well located and the indicator lights on the front are extremely useful for determining what mode the lap top is in (ie. wirelesss mode, whether the battery is charging, whether the AC power is connected) after you've worked out what each light is for.
The notebook's biggest strength is it's power. It is a large hard drive (60GB), high amount of RAM (512MB...

To Hear Sound You First Need Speakers
Review of PC LINE 2.5w by
ReviewDude
Advantages: Good Colour, Easy To Use
Disadvantages: None
...I was recently in PC World (Sigh) buying a new Graphics Card. Because it was a Sunday I had no where else to go so had to pay extra because I couldn't wait another day to get my computer up and running.
On my way out of the store I noticed a pair of speakers. Why is that no one ever seems to update their speakers? If you gave someone an old computer in a brand new case they will think it was good because we judge things on how they look.
The PC Line speakers have a nice simple design. They are light silver colour on the shell and blue for the speaker section.
They are light in weight and easy to move around a desk without causing damage.
Both of the speakers are linked to each other so you can't take the two more then a metre apart. You then have a two metre wire with a plug on the end of it.. The plug is larger...

Why cant I order on line
Review of NEC Direction SM733P by
Woodster
Advantages: Cost, high spec
Disadvantages: No online ordering facility, delivery
...My mother decided a couple of months back that she needed to pull herself into this century, so she gave ME the task of finding her a PC which fell within her £1000 budget.
She didnt need to much in the way of hard drive or memory as she was not going to play games on it. She needed a basic PC with lots of practical extras she could use.
I narrowed a spec down to include a scanner, inkjet printer, video cam, sound card and speakers, read write cd drive and a dvd.
This obviously meant a fairly lowly powered unit but this can be upgraded if she feels it's necessary.
I hunted through various websites for three or four hours and eventually plumped for an NEC machine. ( buying the scanner and printer on line from comet as they were the cheapest option).
I entered all the details onto the website, everything went well...

18 months down the line
Review of Dell Latitude D500 - Pentium M 1.3 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
deebeebee
Advantages: I now prefer laptop to PC
Disadvantages: none in particular
...'m working.
OK, I love this laptop and I will be very sad when it has to be returned.
In conclusion, I'd say it's great. I can't comment on value for money. The replacement keyboard cost around £100, expensive compared to a keyboard for a PC, but a very small fraction of the value of a laptop I suppose.
The Dell on-line support, and the Dell telephone helpline cannot be faulted (from my experience with the failed keyboard)....

The top end of the XFX line
Review of XFX FORCE FX 5950 Ultra by
Soadfan1
Advantages: Great performance
Disadvantages: Heavy cost
...’s the top end of the XFX line, and a solid performer in its field but is there enough power there to justify the price. It boils down to a simple case of, if you have the money then buy this card because it’s the best current card out there for most games. However if you were a bit iffy about the card due to its price tag you might do better to get the 5900 Ultra, its practically as good for a fair deal less cost.
-90% Rating- Very Good
Here are the specifications for this card.
Clock core speed 475 MHz
Memory clock 950 MHz
Interface AGP 8x
Installed memory 256 MB DDR RAM
Data width 256 bit...

Every cloud has a silver lining
Review of ViewSonic VP171s by
merrin
Advantages: Quality - Ease of use
Disadvantages: Nothing major
...When on one pleasant, until that moment, Saturday morning my current home PC monitor decided to spontaneously combust I was left with not only the acrid smell of flaming plastic inhabiting my lounge but also the pressing need to acquire a new screen. In an attempt to find some kind of silver lining to the incident I decided that this would be a good opportunity to upgrade to a nice shiny new 17-inch flat panel monitor. A couple of days of hectic research later I settled on the View Sonic VP171s.
When you first remove this monitor from the box you are immediately struck by the quality of the product. It is | | |
