What? Another addition to the ipod line-up?
Review of Apple iPod classic 80 GB by
hes_quadraphonic
Advantages: Slim, Great Battery, Good Sound Quality., good build quality.
Disadvantages: Scratches quite easily, new firmware mainly brings cosmetic changes.
...So here we are again, another Ipod to add to the increasing line of apple mp3 players. What are the differences? What does it sound like? Is is durable? How much does it cost? These are just some of the questions I will hopefully answer in this review. Right then, on with the show.
----------What Is An Ipod Classic?----------
An ipod classic is the flagship model and latest addition to Apple's mp3 player market. It was released in the fourth quarter of 2007 and is technically the 6th generation of the Ipod or '6G'. The classic replaces the ipod video (5/5.5G). The term 'classic' in my understanding refers to the traditional ipod looks and layout - presumably added to limit confusion - due to the existence of other ipod offspring such as the
ipod touch and nano.
----------Why Did I Buy An Ipod Classic?---------

Line up for poor picture show
Review of Yamada DVD5520 by
Pazadov
Advantages: View a DVD anywhere
Disadvantages: Poor picture quality
...You've heard the saying, 'you get what you pay for', and this is so true for the Yamada DVD 520.
I purchased the portable DVD player after seeing a full page advertisement in my Satellite and TV weekly magazine.
It was only £159.00 but still had all the features of the top brand players retailing at three times that amount.
DTS, Dolby Digital, Kodak Picture CD, MP3, what more could I ask for?
Well, it’s all very well having all this but you really do need a decent image on screen to enable you to enjoy everything.
I was bitterly disappointed with the picture quality, full of lines going horizontally across the screen. Unless you look at a particular angle under particular lighting conditions, the lines are so apparent, it spoils the enjoyment of the movie that you’re trying to view.
Battery power is a complete joke...

The audible illusions pre-amplifier
Review of Sony Pre DA 3000 by
DJ_FUSION
Advantages: Superb sound quality
Disadvantages: hard to find
...supply is housed externally, and is coupled electrically to the main unit via a non-detachable umbilical.
The already impressive array of mil-spec parts which were employed in the Modulus 3 (many of which were custom-made for Audible Illusions) has been further improved upon in the 3A, with judicious use of 1% resistors and custom polystyrene and polypropylene capacitors, all mounted on high quality double-sided star-grounded circuit boards. Close inspection of the 3A's innards reveals that a high degree of care and craftsmanship have gone into this product's design and assembly, far exceeding what would normally be expected at this price point.
Like the Modulus 3, the 3A utilizes a tubed line stage (one 6922 per channel) run in class A with no feedback or output cathode follower. While a cathode follower is often employed to lower...

A Decent Purchase
Review of Samsung SP-43 T 8 HP by
susrim
Advantages: Size of screen, Virtual Surround
Disadvantages: Can't leave a still image on screen
...of plastic, which could easily break if something was to fall against it.
I also find it hard to clean, because you have to be so careful- it almost feels loose, as though it would fall out of the screen at any time!
++Disaster!++
Waiting for the tv to come and a space was made in an alcove in my front room, just by the window- by the cordless telephone..................and this was where the problem lay!
The tv arrived and was unpacked by the delivery guy, who also set it up. Once he had left, I immediately got settled with a dvd on the new TV, through the surround sound system, with a drink and snacks- what could go wrong?
5 minutes into the film, I saw a faint line going through the centre of the screen and as the minutes ticked by, it started to go down the screen, then it immediately re-appeared at the top and started working...

It's WIDTH that matters...
Review of Matsui 28 Telly by
Howiemon
Advantages: Price, picture quality, price, ease of use, price...
Disadvantages: No surround sound, no digital, user manual a bit vague
...', and these are basically adjusted versions of 'CINEMA 1' and 'CINEMA 2' respectively. Not surprisingly, these are angled towards the lower half of the screen so that any subtitles can remain in view.
Finally, the badly named 'FULLSCREEN' mode. Badly named because this is clearly a widescreen mode, the one you use for your anamorphically enhanced widescreen DVD's.
WHOA Howie!!
Ana-what??
Okay, picture this - a TV screen (whether wide' or full') is made up of 625 horizontal lines of resolution, right?. If an image is presented in widescreen, at least 200 of those lines are made up of nothing more than black bar, top and bottom. Therefore if you expand the remaining 425 lines of picture to fill the 625 lines on your widescreen telly, you're going to lose resolution aren't you?
An anamorphically enhanced DVD will fill in the missing 200 lines of information...

Speechless. It's amazing!
Review of Cowon iAudio M3 by
dippy38
Advantages: Ipod Killer, Looks Stunning, Light, Accessories
Disadvantages: Price, Some people may not like remote
...spent on it. I’ve only ever purchased two very expensive things and that’s after about two years of deliberating, this is one of them.
1) You get a docking station. It too is finished with a metal look to suit the mp3 itself. It’s absolutely tiny, mind you it’s only a stand right? Wrong! It’s got four ports on the back. One charger, one line out which comes supplied with a cable with a mini headphones connector on either end. You also get a line in of which you can use the same cable. Finally you can use the USB 2.0 interface to dock with your PC. AND IT DOES WORK WITH USB 1.0 (in my experience (DESPITE THIS NOT BEING SAID ON ANY PACKAGING, ADVERTISING OR WEBSITE!
This docking station is far better than any of the ipod competition. Let’s face it this system was designed to destroy the ipod and it does, very well. The ipod transmitter...

You spin me right round baby, right round...
Review of Sony D-EJ611 by
paulgusta
Advantages: G-Protection is almost flawless, clear sound
Disadvantages: Buttons are a bit fiddly and it doesn't fly too well. At the wrong volume/bass settings the sound becomes a bit tinny
...'shuffle', 'last track' and 'program' functions
*Repeat/enter
*Sound - multiple levels of "bass"...more about that later.
Around the perimeter of the unit we have:
*Volume control
*Headphone/remote in
*Open
*'Hold' button (with this on, it doesn't let any of the buttons be accessed - useful if it's in your pocket and you don't want the button's pressed accidentally)
*Line out (coupled with the tape adaptor it's handy for car stereos)
*AC power in
On the inside, we've got:
*AVLS (Anti-Volume-Limiter-System) - why you would bother is beyond me, as you've got to open the lid to get to it. Nice work, Sony
Underneath is the:
*Battery compartment - 2 x AA
But what good is a fancy-pants Discman without sound? Not much, except as a Frisbee (I tried that. Advice to others: don't throw to an incompetent friend. In fact, don't try...
