Snowbee XS Weight Forward 7 Floating Line
Review of Snowbee XS Floating Fly Line by
Woodsa12
Advantages: Slick, shoots VERY easily, presentation, durability
Disadvantages: Discolours
...I have fly fished for many years now (not going to say how many as it makes me feel old!) and I have used, abused and thrown away more floating lines than I can remember. Until now
I bought my first Snowbee line 5 years ago just as they started hitting the market. I had used many brands of lines up until then - Cortland, Lureflash, Airflo and was currently using a Shakespeare Worcestershire, and then I bought this 'new' line from a company who, at the time, mainly made waders
The lines were simply called Snowbee Prestige lines then. At the time, the Prestige line felt good. Easy to cast, shot through the rings well and was reasonably durable. It floated high on the water and served me well for 4 seasons before it was time to change. Of course, in this time the Prestige had become the XS and cost a little, but not a lot, more...

hook line and sinker
Review of Shimano Biomaster Xs Carp Reel by
gary-234
Advantages: to many to list
Disadvantages: none to my knowledge
...where do i start about this reel, what a cracker. in my opinion it truelly is a great reel.
Coming from shimano's range of big pit reels and very similair to the previous best selling bio master, the xsa carries many new and improved features.
There are many features on the reel which include
# it has a ratio of 4.6:1(reserves a good deal of cranking power)
# line capacity of 350yards of 17lb line(ideal for long range casting)
# dyna balance which reduces wobble
# aero wrap which gives superb line lay, this ensures the line leaves the spool more cleanly with minimul amount of friction, enableing longer and smoother casting.
# instant drag facility
So what does all this mean, this means you get a great reel capable of playing any size fish
when i was recently using thereel i particually found that the instant...

Cheeter Line Ball
Review of Titleist Golfballs by
sacoyote
Advantages: More ball for less
Disadvantages: Durabillity
...Titleist makes the best golf balls, and has proven them selfs on the pro tour for many years.
This is a Titleist budget ball with almost the same performance and feel as the more expensive brother the Pro V1.
The Cheeter line is very helpfull, for somone that struggles to line up his putts and can even be used to line up the driver giving you better acurisy ultimitly saving you shots on a round.
Launches good from the club face and has good controll arrount the greens, nice soft feel on irons giving you the confidence of a tour player. I woeld recomend this ball for the mid handicapper looking for a better ball but does not whant to pay the full price for the Pro V1 range....

The art of Lure fishing - a simple(ish) technique
Review of Artificial by
duck1979
Advantages: Easy to set up, all sorts of wierd & wonderful artificial lures to choose from, can last years
Disadvantages: Can be rather expensive, especially if you keep loosing them in the scenery
...Fishing with Artificial lures is one of my favourite fishing methods, mainly because it's so easy to get set-up for a session.
By Artificial Lures, in this instance I am referring to the good old MEPPS style spinners + also artificial plugs + "spoons"..... not to be confused with Artificial flies used by Salmon & Trout Anglers, which are basically hooks tarted up with various items to resemble an insect of some description.
Setting up to fish with Artificial lures is simplicity itself..... take your spinning rod (I prefer Shakespeare's UGLY STIK + UGLY SAPPHIRE range), and attach your reel to the reel seat if you haven't done so already........ once you've got the line from the reel threaded through the appropriate holes, then your rig can be as simple as a Snaplink swivel tied to the end of your line.
The snaplink swivel...

Makes fishing fun and stress free
Review of Shimano Baitrunner Aero Gte B by
mattz
Advantages: Stylish, easy to use, well made and very durable
Disadvantages: Quite expensive
...I recently purchased 2 Shimano 8000 GTE-B baitrunners and wow how have I managed to fish before without them. I'm yet to find a fault with them. With the ability to adjust the baitrunner and drag with ease and my casting distances have increased dramatically enabling me to fishing in areas that were unreachable with my previous reels. Yes they cost £74.99 per reel but they last for years (My dad has had a pair for 12 years and they are still quality).
I'd definitely say that these are the best reels I've ever used and I've been fishing for 15 years so I've had my fair share of reels over the years. They also look good finished in silver with a strong line clip for when you need to recast to the same area, as many of you know a good line clip is essential.
Now for the Specifications

Flexifoil Super 10
Review of Flexifoil Super 10 by
flystar
Advantages: Durable, great for exercise
Disadvantages: Expensive, boring in weak winds
.... This is a very simple task that even children can carry out. The instructions are good at describing the steps. The 2 lines are made of dyneema and seem to be pre-stretched well as I haven't needed to make any adjustments to length. Again the instructions are good at showing the placement and type of knots required, 4 will need to be made in total. The padded handles are red and blue and are colour coded along with the lines to make set-up easier. The plastic line winder makes keeping the lines tangle free when packing away a doddle.
Note: The kite comes wrapped around a length of cardboard, do not dispose of this as it is very useful to wrap the kite around for repacking after use.
Flying:
Well with the wind on my back at 8mph+ this kite flew for the first time. Self-launching is easy if your have nobody to assist you, provided the grass...

Gone Fishing.
Review of Sweetcorn by
docpov
Advantages: Tried and tested
Disadvantages: Angling is not everyone's cup of tea.
...it in the water would be the easy answer I guess.
When hooking you must keep the sharp end of the hook clear or you may well miss bites.
All the different fishing methods will work with sweetcorn.
You can use it suspended in mid water under a float or on the bottom under a float. Even in flowing water this works to good effect.
Ledgering works well too. Ledgering is where a larger weight is either fixed onto the line or allowed to run freely up the line. Bite indication is made possible by use of either a swing or quiver tip on the end of your rod that is placed at a forty five-degree angle to where your bait is placed. This allows you to see when a fish has taken your bait by movements in the rod tip. Alternatively an electronic "buzzer" bite alarm could be used either on its own or in conjunction with a vertical indicator. This is where the line...
