The menu is more in the Price Range of Pub Fare £6 or £7 for main course, but the quality is very good and also very interesting items. Sunday Luch is £12.50 for 3 courses and I feel a Superb meal. ...Porterhouse is situated in Maiden Lane in Covent Garden and is a few minutes stroll from Charing Cross and Covent Garden Stations. From the outside it looks just like any other old pub but once inside you find a cavern of copper beer pipes and dark wood surrounds. The pub is split into different levels which makes navigation very interesting, especially trying to find the toilets after a few pints. Porterhouse comes from the name of the brewery with the same name and is famous for it's extensive selection of beers (188 at last count I think) and it's wonderful Irish based menu including sausage and mash and also large pots of mussells . During the day the pub is relatively quiet and is perfect for our ICQ get togethers which happen every couple of months or so. It has large tables which are perfect for these large gatherings... ...even after moving out of the row of parked coaches. This only prompted me to request Michael to accomodate. And this coach today, was not even full, It had unoccupied seats (window seats at that). I am suprised to be a victim of "selective flexibility", in the heart of London, and by a driver who, I thought till the last journey which he drove was a gentleman. It's quite a learning experience! I guess it's only time that there needs to be competitive services in this segment, probably services that have more humane drivers. Competitor's reading this, will already know where their next set of customers will come from.... Read review

The only slight issue I had was that the menu had to be selected by all at the table so it is not possible to have this and for another diner to have the a-la carte menu. Nice to see that it includes the coffee course and there are no 'supplement' courses on this (an all too typical trick for some supposedly set menus). The Meal Rather that opting for an aperitif, we decided to select a bottle of house white, Chablis Roux 2002, and take this through the starter course as well. ...are nothing particularly special but they're not bad. The beds are decent; I've never had a problem getting to sleep on them. You get the things that seem to come as standard in most hotels: TV (complete with list of pay-per-view movies), mini-bar, kettle with tea and coffee selection, telephone. The telephones have a direct-dial number so people can call the room without having the call the front desk first and be redirected. I'm not sure how much the hotel charges for making calls, as we'd usually phone the hotel to speak to Mum, rather than her call us. They'll probably be expensive, because hotel phones always are. The rooms come with bath and shower rooms ensuite. These have two good-sized towels and two hand towels for a two-person room. I expect family rooms would have more, but I've not actually stayed in one, so I don't know... Read review

...On our way to Tesco's in Dundee for a spot of late night shopping we decided to stop off for something to eat and decided to try this pub which is part of the Chef and Brewer group. This group is one of the subsidiaries of The Spirit Group who also have The Wacky Warehouse pub/restaurants and The Steak and Ale pubs. Unlike the Wacky Warehouses these are aimed at the slightly more mature clientele with a more adult selection of food and more refined atmosphere. ***The Setting*** The Bell Tree is set in a relatively new development that has taken off since the A92 between Arbroath and Dundee was upgraded to duel carriageway after many years of battling between locals wanting it and the council saying they had no money for it - but I digress. ...in South Godstone which is a 20 minute drive and a train station in Lingfield which is also a 20 minute drive. The hotel is situated on the A22 and within easy reach of the M25 and M23 as well as Eastbourne and Brighton, which are both about a 40 minute drive. The hotel is about 30 minutes from Tunbridge Wells, and the same to Hever Castle, it is about 20 minutes from Lingfield Race Course and about 20 minutes to Crawley, the nearest big town.
