Reviews of t shirt
getting over a lover takes a black shirt
Review of Mi Sangre - Juanes by
rockgenie19
Advantages: Fantastic sun-filled pop, latin beats and rocky choruses
Disadvantages: It's a long album, so inevitably there is some filler
...I really love this guy. And anyone who has been in Europe this summer and heard 'La camisa negra' blasting out of hundreds of clubs does too. He's complaining about how much his girl has done him wrong, but over such a danceable beat that everyone ends up happy. That's the key to Juanes - whether he's bitter or deliriously in love, it's all delivered with positive energy. So he gets away with lines about how he wears a black shirt because his soul is black too...
Don't be put off by the album art, where Juanes looks like a hairy 80s rocker. The sound is pretty rocky, nothing harsh, but plenty of driving beats, especially on tracks like 'Nada valgo sin tu amor', my personal favourite. He's Columbian, which shows in his use of latin dance rhythms and guitars, especially on 'La camisa negra' and 'A Dios le pido'. He moves from smooth...

DON'T FORGET TO GIMME BACK MY BLACK T-SHIRT
Review of Whatever and Ever Amen - Ben Folds Five by
craiggy_boy
Advantages: Quirky and original, both witty and touching, Ben Folds
Disadvantages: Not to everyone's taste, I'm told the other albums weren't so good so you might not be able to build up a great BF5 collection

Dance yourself into a trance
Review of Pure Euphoria - Matt Darey by
aitchison21
Advantages: Serotonin inducing music
Disadvantages: None whatsoever
...trancey keyboard, rising and falling, rising and falling, playing with our minds. I was now completely lost as I floated on air to 'The Olmec heads: Spiritualised'. 'Matt Darey' reminded us it was not over yet, and didn't we know it. The noise from the crowd rose into a crescendo, in time with the music, two worlds climaxed together.............and then it started again, I was not there anymore I was in a unified world of trance and we were there together.
Sweat dripped from the bodies of everybody on the floor, everybody on the stage, everybody.
Beautiful creatures dressed in different coloured cropped tops, bras, shorts, skirts danced their way passed my eyes and my mind as I floated with my white cotton shirt now fully open, baring my hair covered chest (Tom Jones eat your heart out), nobody cared. Men in shorts, shirts...

Know your Enema
Review of Know Your Enemy [ECD] - Manic Street Preachers by
DiazX
Advantages: Catchy tunes, Muso Kudos
Disadvantages: Pretentious drivel, repetetive choruses, just read the op, you'll get my jist
...Why do the Manics make me jump around, well, it's because they make me seethe with righteous fury. I cannot stand the fact that a band with a mediocre song writing talent at best is applauded by musos the world round and thus the Manics are vaunted as rock gods and amongst the best bands the UK has ever produced. Still I’ll stay true to my scientific nature and try and give you what amounts to an objective viewpoint on the band. I HATE THEM!!! Objective enough??
The Manics formed in 1991 in their hometown of Blackwood, Wales. The “Generation Terrorists” were very much molded on the late 70’s punk movement and to be honest if they had stayed that way it wouldn’t be so bad, these days they wear NYLON SHIRTS instead of leather pants.
Of course in the climate of the time they bucked against much...

So Cheesy It's Tasty! Sweary's Secret Affliction
Review of Best Of Neil Diamond, The - Neil Diamond by
Sweary
Advantages: It's Neil Diamond
Disadvantages: It's Neil Diamond
...is not Robbie or Elvis but actually Neil Diamond.
"Not 1970s spangly blue shirts undone to the navel Neil Diamond?" I ask him, guffawing mightily - although to be honest I quite like "Love on the Rocks" and "Forever in Blue Jeans" although of course having dissed Mr Diamond so thoroughly, I wasn't going to admit that to him.
"No. Not 1970s spangly shirts undone to the navel Neil Diamond." He retorts tersely. "I'm referring to 1960s, god-of-folk, pisses-on-the-other-pretentious-twonks-around-at-the-time-from-a-great-height, Neil Diamond! HE didn't write any stupid soppy songs about Vincent Van Gogh!" But he did write "You Don't Bring me Flowers." I counter. "Pish! That's an aberration!" He replies.
He then went on to argue, with a certain amount of passion I might add, that I should forget about the spangly 70s guy with the lid...

Classic
Review of Performance And Cocktails - Stereophonics by
jintyjoonyjengajoe
Advantages: Absolutely superb
Disadvantages: Jeep, their new album, doesn't compare inquality
...This album never fails: its always simply brilliant, from the happy, not too heavy not too soft 'Pick A Part That's New' to the pub rocker 'T-Shirt Suntan' to the fast, up-tempo rock of 'Roll Up And Shine', 'Half Of The Lies You Tell Ain't True' and 'The Bartender And The Thief' to the introspective 'A Minute Longer', 'Hurry Up And Wait' and 'Yesterday Tommorow Today' to the build up of 'Just Looking' to the acoustic happy sounds of 'I Wouldn't Believe Your Wireless Radio' and 'She Takes Her Clothes' off to the simple indie rock of 'Plastic California' to the closing chilling 'I Stopped To Fill My Car Up'. That's all of them. I can't find fault in any of them.
The instant hitters are 'Pick A Part That's New', 'T-Shirt Suntan' etc. but in the end it is tracks like the simply beautiful 'Yesterday Tommorow Today' and 'Plastic California...
