...First review I have written in a while, bear with me if I come across a bit rusty! Now I am very fussy about what washing detergent I use! I like to use one that smells nice, and that is my main concern. There?s a couple I can?t use as they seem to irritate me like mad, Persil Non-Bio is a no-go, as is Daz and Fairy. Normally I purchase whatever is on offer, or if I can get to Makro, I will buy it there. Failing that I?ll go for Tesco?s own Bio washing detergent. My favourite washing detergent has to be Ariel Tablets though, and on a recent trip to Makro, I bought in bulk! -The Packaging. Rennie Spearmint Tablets. Yummy and effective.

Advantages: Good taste, works, cheap.
Disadvantages: chalky,crumbly.

...Rennie tablets The Rennie brand is seemingly one of the most recognisible in it's category. They are taken for indigestion and heartburn but are also supposed to relieve wind problems and problems with digestion in pregnancy. This particular product is the spearmint flavour which is part of a whole spectrum of Rennie products including 'Rennie Ice' and 'Rennie fruit'. Indigestion and Heartburn..what is this? Laundry Tablets For Tough Jobs!

Advantages: Works beautifully needing no pre-treatments
Disadvantages: Leaves a residue on the door seal at low temperatures.

...obtained with any wash I had done in the past. The only observation was that there was a small layer of residue from the tablets which had caught in the front of the door seal. This is something I often find when using any powder based product at 30 degrees. I simply don't think the wash generates enough turning power in the machine to fully dissolve the entire product before the end of the cycle. It is why I never use powders for coloured items because I find powdery residues can leave white marks on the clothes. This product is not for coloured clothes so any residue was not visible, and so I was more than happy as the machine itself has continued to smell fresh due to this residue left behind. Review of Persil Biological Gel Tablets

Non-Bio Tablets!

Advantages: Only needed to use one for an almost full load (not soiled), great scent, good price.
Disadvantages: A little expensive when not on offer so stock up when they are!

...As I am at my sisters at the moment when I need to wash my clothes I just use whatever she has brought on her last shopping trip. This week it was Persil Non Bio Tablets. The tablets come in a cardboard box with a perforated tab which you can pull to open and then inside the box the tablets are wrapped in twos. I used one tablet for my wash as it was not particularly dirty or soiled and I put the tablet inside the wash bag (I'm not sure if this was provided with the tablets as I found it on top of the washing machine). I then pulled the drawstring and threw it in to the drum along with my clothes. I washed my clothes on a 40 degree wash which lasted around 90 minutes and when I took my clothes out they had a lovely smell to them which lasted for most of the day when wearing my favourite top. Advantages: No scrubbing
Disadvantages: Can't use the toilet for 6 hours

The carton box can be easily recycled and unfortunately for safety reasons this extra packaging is definitely needed especially if you have kids in the house! HOW TO USE IT ********** You carefully take one tablet out of its wrapping and pop it in the loo. The tablet will slowly melt creating a bubbly foam which tackles the limescale and dirt. You should leave it to work for at least 6 hours but best and thorough results are obtained if you leave it overnight. COST ********** Tesco charges £1.98 for the box of eight tablets which works roughly as 25p per tablet. Persil Tablets

Advantages: Well known brand, good for babies
Disadvantages: Cleaning not brilliant, doesn't smell nice.

...I find that Persil tablets don\'t clean as well as some other brands I have used. I have a very messy 4 year old, so I have lots of stains to contend with. I find that the tablets aren't as effective as some powders, and they don't always dissolve properly during the wash. I have also found myself, on occasion, having to use 3 tablets instead of 2. Another thing that I tend to find with the Persil tablets, is that they dont smell very nice. I know it's not the most important feature of laundry products, but the way my clothes smell is important to me. I suppose the Persil tablets are fine if you only have a small baby, or older kids that don't get stains on their clothes, but they're not much help when you have a messy toddler to contend with,...
