HP 530 - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT
Review of HP 530 - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
sunderlandcomputers
Advantages: Cost, Reliability, Battery Life, WIFI Range
Disadvantages: Display not best, memory - not enough
...So what's it got and is it worth it.
My 530 come with Vista Home Basic 32 pre-installed with the option of the Business 32 version for a little extra. It's powered by an IntelCore Due T2050 processor at 1.6GHz with 2MB level 2 cache and 533MHz FSB. The memory let's it down at only 512Mb, which struggles to keep up woth the demand of Vista.
The good news is that the memory can be upgraded to up to 2Gb, however we opted to trash Vista in favour of our ol favourite Windows XP Home.
Storage is a reasonable 80Gb SATA Hard Disk Drive and a combi DVD/CD RW drive wth double layer capability allows for essential backups, and writing speeds that won't keep you waiting.
The screen is 15.4 inches with WXGA Brightview technology.
There is a wired network adaptor as well as a wireless connection via a Broadcom 802.11 b/g, allowing...

'Perfect Balance Between Value and Versatility'
Review of Sony VAIO N11S/W - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
craigyb85
Advantages: Price, price, price!
Disadvantages: Ipod white....
...in wireless LAN.
This laptop is also handy for those with a digital camera as it features both SD and Memory Stick slots for easy picture downloading. No more messing around with extra cables, etc. It also has an I-Link socket for high-quality, easy video transfer from your camcorder.
As for the processor speed, I'm not an expert with this sort of thing, so I will quote directly: Intel Core Duo T2050, supports enhanced Intel stepspeed technology.
Sounds fancy, but all I know is that it works well and at a pretty good pace.
What does impress me most is the quality of the screen. At a nice size of 15.4", Sony has made the excellent X-Black screen for it's laptops for many years and this one is no exception. Very bright, clear, sharp and non-reflective. I've used it in bright sunshine and was still able to see the screen clearly. Very black...

Very N-pressed!
Review of Sony VAIO N11S/W - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
lisarichardson18
Advantages: Price! Slim design, X-black LCD , Speed
Disadvantages: Weight, Partitioned Hardrive ,USB, Speakers
...Sony Vaio N-Series
VGN-N11S
As I'm studying IT at college I needed a laptop that would be perfect for my studies quick enough to deal with all my applications and being a student, affordable.
The VGN-N11S is perfect for all of these, but don't be fooled by the price. At last, Sony have brought us a good quality laptop with many great features which is affordable! They state that this laptop is the 'Perfect Balance Between Value and Versatility', I definitely agree!
Specifications:
Processor: Intel Core Duo T2050 (1.6GHz x 2)
Hard drive: 100 GB
RAM: 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM
Battery Life: 3.8 hours
15.4' X-black LCD monitor
DVD±RW
I love the slim design; its height is only 2.9cms. The bright white colour makes this laptop look modern and stand out from others. I was quite worried at first about the colour getting...

A superb, good value laptop with excellent spec
Review of Compaq Presario Media Center C350EA - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
peugeotbabe
Advantages: Fast, quiet, lightweight and good size keyboard
Disadvantages: Only 2 USB ports
...that it's got a clean, fresh, bright look rather than sitting in the corner absorbing the light (I suppose over time it might not be so practical if I ever use it with grubby fingers though).
The screen is a 15.4 inch widescreen with brightview technology, and you certainly can't dispute the brightness - it's quite startling at first. And the sound quality is superb too - the two speakers, built in at the front - push out a clear, crisp sound that means surfing and playing your music using Windows Media Player at the same time is a joy.
Mine came with Microsoft Works pre-installed (check with your supplier before purchase though), along with all the usual Windows XP gubbins, like Outlook, Explorer, Media Player, and many more. I proceeded to install my own programs with ease, just popping the CD in and letting it auto-run - it never...

Great General-Purpose Laptop
Review of Sony VAIO N11M/W - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
brentj
Advantages: Crystal clear screen, good price, battery life, excellent overall
Disadvantages: 512MB not enough, not many ports
...what it says on the tin. The sound card is good enough for a laptop, although the internal speakers aren't great, especially for music. There are headphone and microphone sockets available, so use them! Sound through headphones is fine.
The dual-layer DVD writer again does everything that is expected of it. Writing to dual-layer disks is a slow process though, usually at 2x speed - probably due to the newness (is that a word?) of the technology. One problem that I have noticed though is that sometimes on DVD-R and DVD-RW disks, the operating system doesn't detect the files on them. Quickly ejecting the disk and closing it again resolves the problem which indicates that it may be a problem with the Sony DVD device driver - hopefully this will be resolved in the Windows Vista version.
The keyboard is well spaced out and the different...

Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Pi 1536
Review of Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Pi 1536 - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
GerlofL
Advantages: Still works like a sunshine after 8 hours ( or more ) of heavy use.
Disadvantages: after 18 months the battery can only supply me with 27 minutes of power.
...Well, I bought this laptop in August 2006 for school. I noticed that except for the company delivery system there was not really anything wrong with this laptop. Yes, some people experience trouble with this laptop, but that is usually because they asume something.
This laptop is amazing, as long as you don´t asume anything, the driver system is not exactly logical, but that can be easily solved by researching a little bit. I had problems with the screen twice ( both times my own fault ) And it got fixxed really quickly, so for the service, or the people they choose to give service in theire place, they deserve a 10/10.
The speed is amazing, even after enslaving it with a memory draining game, and after that booting a 3d graphics program, it still works like a sunshine. However, I decided to use XP on this laptop, which is truely...

Excellent for a budget computer
Review of Toshiba Equium A100-147 - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
Puzzle121
Advantages: Good sound, nice looks, battery life, running speed
Disadvantages: Slow startup, small memory, heats up
...I'd only had one laptop before this, and, for the less computer-friendly out there, i'm going to make do without all the 'Intel Celeron' stuff, because i simply don't understand! All i know is that the laptop is Vista Capable.
I love my laptop. It's very light, it is very thin, and has a very large screen. It has a black keypad, and silver surroundings, with a large monitor and black plastic surroudings. The outer casing is also black, the top of the laptop having a small silver metallic panel with Toshiba's logo on it.
There are two small but potent speakers above the keyboard, and the mousepad is almost central, below the keyboard, with a touchpad, and a left and right mouse button.
There's a small silver on button, which has a big blue light above it - for notification fo when the laptop's on, and there's also buttons below...

Works great with PCLinux 2007
Review of HP 530 - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
jawz
Advantages: Cost, Speed, screen
Disadvantages: Limited connectivity, Vista!
...'ve left Vista on the HD but partitioned half of the remaining space for linux. All hardware ran 'out-of-the-box' except for the wireless lan, just a quick download from HP and Bobs your uncle or ndiswrapper perhaps. Only problem I had, that the machine comes new with 3 partitions already on it, for backup and stuff for Vista I suppose. PClos wouldn't partition it, but Ubuntu had no such problems. 3D desktop runs wonderful, showing the intel graphics card is up to job. Theres no firewire and only 2 usb ports, but at this price what do you expect. You could also grumble at all the connections being on the leftside of the unit and none at the back which is taken up by the battery location. The screen is very clear and colours are beautifully rendered.Albeit there's only 512MB installed as standard, linux makes good use of it and dosn't...

Review of Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Pro V3405 Edition - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
laurennbabydoll
Advantages: smart and quite compact, excellent fast speed, great value for money
Disadvantages: nothing that i have come across so far.
...After searching days on end for a new laptop, and stressing over which was the best type to get, which was faster than the others, which was the best value for money etc. I came across the Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V3405. I found this laptop at only £430 on the Comet website so I advise shopping around when looking for a new laptop as some sites or shops offer much better deals than others.
I've never purchased a laptop before, so didn't have much knowledge on what type to get and what it should have. But what I do know was that I needed a fast processor, and this was a perfect choice. Coming equipped with an Intel Centrino Duo processor I found this very speedy and I do not spend a while waiting around for the laptop to open, close or run programs, and also it makes multi-tasking very easy and fast paced. This laptop came fully...
