...I had wanted a laptop for years but never had the courage to actually take the final step of buying one. Even after looking at countless different brands and models I still chose a desktop PC! At a new job I was given a Thinkpad T43. I found it incredibly easy to use, and as I was splitting my time between the office and home was having to carry it around with me. After months of using the laptop my desktop PC at home died and I decided to try and replace it with a Thinkpad. Because I was on a restricted budget and couldn't afford a new laptop I decided to see what was available second-hand. I say this because I’m a person who develops websites, and using a piece of machinery like this did impress the judge. If you are a common Joe then, lets face it you won't be amazed. The unit faces an awckward task of creating versatility, while still trying to impress everyone with the looks of a London double decker. The 1.5 Ghz processor can handle almost anything that the world has to offer in terms of software developing or corporate dealings. The unit comes preinstalled with 256 SDRAM and a portable 40Gb hardrive. This makes it an ok item for home users, but again who would want this in their living room spoiling the view. Advantages: Tiny size, large memory, good price. Did I mention its tiny size?
Disadvantages: Needs good light, eats batteries, can't see the pics until you download.

.... The software (PhotoImpression 3.0 by Arcsoft) is pretty good, and user friendly too. It will do simple things like rotate the image, crop it, retouch it, remove red eye, add text, paint moustaches onto people, save it into various albums, email it as an attachment etc. You can use the software to import and manipulate images from other devices like scanners too, and you can always import the pics into a better package if you want to do anything really snazzy because it saves them as jpegs. It would obviously benefit from a flash, zoom, image display screen, and bigger battery, but then it wouldn't be the size it is, and it wouldn't be £40. All in all a cool gadget, great gift, and a pretty good price. The downsides are easily outweighed by the size, price and memory capacity.... Read review

...all of your programmes onto an internal hard drive, in much the same way as an iPod would do with your music. The 8000T's 40GB hard drive is good for 20 hours of perfect quality recordings. You wouldn't even now that the programme wasn't live. Recording with the PVR is easy thanks to the EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) which allows you to see whats on each channel and just click on what you want to record. Alternatively you can enter the channel with a start and stop time, just like you did on your VCR. You can also select the repeat function so that the programme you want can be recorded automatically every week, so you'll never miss it again! -PAUSE LIVE TV?- The hard drive also allows you to pause a live television programme for up to 30 minutes! ...;t accidentally dial Outer Mongolia while the phone is in your backpack. HOWEVER, even when the keyboard is locked, it will allow you to dial 999 (the British equivalent of 911). I can see why they did this, so that you can dial during an emergency quickly, but I have nearly dialled 999 inadvertently while the phone has been in my pocket. That would be bad. I can choose from a plethora of ringtones (and I can even buy more if I wish, although I have no desire to hear the Star Trek theme rendered as a bunch of beeps). My phone came with 40 ringtones – I use two – one for calls from my family, and another for everyone else. I’ve chosen ‘Fuga’ and ‘Entertainer’ – two reasonably inoffensive tones. ...the hell would want to?? You are less likely to get this stolen that a recycled nappy!! Fuel economy I have already toutched on,but ofr facts and figures sake you'll get 25 pmg round town igf you are lucky and less on a long run if it involves motorways speeds (well,attempting them anyway).So fuel economy? For £40 I got what I need for a temporary measure while I look around for a shiny new brum brum., but even at £40 it is going to be a very, very temporary measure. I hate it.
