...I must admit that when a good friend of mine swapped his Mercedes 230 Kompressor for a Volvo C70 T5 I thought he'd made a bad judgement, this then went out of the window as soon as we got out on the road. The performance of the C70 T5 is frankly... suprisingly quick.
The T5 (turbo) in the C70 automatic will outsprint most other (if not all) cars in its class, the 0-60 is in the low 6's, but remember this car is a sophisticated cruiser for business men rather than a boy racer from The Fast and the Furious.
When pushed to the limit the car absolutely flies, I hadn't heard much about the T5 before this but for those who haven't I really recommend taking a look at them. For some reason though you can now only get a convertible C70 T5 as new in this country - if you want the hardtop you will have to import it. Volvo have put...

...(you cannot get in if hold blue member card like we do which is a shame). The process of boarding the plane was very simple, called in order of seat numbers which is a good idea as a few hundred people pushing to get past is not a good idea!
Upon landing at Heathrow, we taxied from one of the runways to T5 which took at least 10-15 minutes upon touchdown. We departed the plane and made our way to the shuttle train which takes you from a smaller building to the main T5 building, These trains run frequently to the main building. Up on arrival of T5 we went through to the baggage claim and got our luggage from one of the many conveyor belts which was selected for our flight. We made our way through to the Arrival side and through the doors where there is a vast amout of glass and space.

...I purchased this camera after much deliberation over the millions and millions of choices available and I can safely say I have been very happy with my choice. The camera is extremely stylish and is very small and lightweight (small enough to carry in your pocket and take a picture whenever you fancy!) One of the major benefits comes in the size of the screen. At 2.5", it allows the pictures to be taken wtih ease and viewed in great detail before connecting the the computer (which, too, is extremely straightforward!)
The picture quality is excellent and the camera is very easy to use. I have had difficulty, however, in taking photographs at night. The camera must be held extremely still (more than I can manage with my hands) so a tripod may be a worthwhile investment if you plan to take lots of photos of the sort. I have taken...

Review of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T5
Advantages: Fast. Comfortable seats. Low wind noise. Good colour choice available. Disadvantages: Very small. Very cramped. Very expensive. Many expensive options
...As any of you who have read my previous car reviews (sorry to bore those of you uninterested in cars - every other review is non-car!) will know that I am something of a Volvo enthusiast. Indeed, in a recent S60 T5 review, I described Mrs Richada and I, as frustrated "non S60 D5" owners!
The larger Volvo's, S60, S80 and V70 are without doubt near or at the top of their respective classes, indeed Mrs Richada says that the ONLY estate car she would be seen in is a V70. At the "bottom" of the range are to be found family sized (slightly larger than Focus) saloon and estate models, the new, in 2004 at least, S40 and V50 models.
For those of you who are non Volvo aficionados, maybe a quick explanation of Volvo's seemingly odd, but in fact quite logical (in Sweden at least!) model nomenclature. S, quite naturally stands for saloon...

Review of Volvo V50 T5
Advantages: Style, performance, comfort, good economy for performance, well built Disadvantages: Not S60 prime model
...Right up front I am going to confess that I am writing this as a slightly frustrated non-Volvo S60 driver. Strange statement that don't you think but there we are out here in the big bad world we do not always get what we want??.
??.and we (Mrs Richada and I) really wanted a Volvo S60, but not as it happens, this the most powerful 220bhp 2.4 litre T5 Sport version. 15 years ago I would have not looked at a Volvo fullstop. However if the S60 had then been on the market, this the fastest one would have been my natural choice.
Maturity and certain financial commitments now mean that I am inclined to make far more rational choices when it comes to choosing a car, no matter if I pay for it, or is currently the case I have a free choice of company car up to a given budget.
Part of my maturity also gives me pangs of conscience...

Review of Volvo S60 T5

...I just spent a week using Talkr T5s whilst on a skiing holiday in France. They were used to stay in contact with my friends on the mountain, and also carried in case of emergency.
Handset range is very much dependant on conditions. Whilst the 6km maximum range can be achived, in practice this was often greatly less if there is something large between the transmitter and reciever. Typically reception was good if my friends were on the same side of the mountain. However if they were in a different valley then we got no reception at all. The sub-channel system works well, and means that you have much more chance of finding a channel that no-one else is using. We used channel 7-13, which meant that we could only hear channel 7-13, and only people using either 7-13 or the whole 7 channel could listen in. Broadcast quality varies...
Advantages: Very well made car, super brakes, good performance Disadvantages: Ride and handling not perfect
...the future of gear knobs and this is it. Fantastic, but a £103 option. Come on Volvo, include this as standard.
The 2-litre engine knocks out a useful 180bhp in this form and is simply wonderful. It pulls away eagerly from as little as 1500rpm but why you would want to when you can flip down through the gears with your space ball. This after all is the entry model and you can go up to 250bhp in the T5 version. I would imagine with this combination of engine and gearing the S60 would make a very useful towing car for those with a caravan.
It is sometimes the case when you have been driving another car for some time that you realise you are covering for your cars faults when you drive. I have suspected my brakes need doing on my own car and perhaps I have been hitting them hard to stop. This was confirmed when I applied the same pressure to...

Review of Volvo S60 T5
Advantages: sharp lens Disadvantages: basic features
...is considerably more expensive with it's titanium clad body. The T5 is the poor mans T2 and gives you a taste of the crystal clear lenses from Carl Zeiss.
Exposures are smack bang on as with flash exposures too, but the flash stretches a bit to illuminate the whole frame (if you are being critical that is)
There is a built in 'waist finder', a small window in the top of the camera to allow you to frame objects simply by looking down onto the camera. This allows you to use the camera at low or ground level giving you a crude viewfinder...for those that are more creative.
Feature wise it's pretty standard, but blows the socks off some SLR zoom lenses in performance....

...I can't admit to owning a Rolls, but I have owned a 7 series BMW and a Jaguar and I have to say that the Volvo V70 T5 beats them both hands down. (maybe not in sheer speed, but taking everything into consideration it is by far the best)
Well that's my opinion.
Practicality, safety and performance are the three things the V70 T5 does well. 90% of the British traffic police can't be wrong.
It's not the most economical car in the world, but I like the fact that if you want to save fuel you can just drive it carefully. A lot of high performance cars are gas guzzlers how-EVER you drive them. With the V70 T5 the power is hiding until you hit around RPM then it's like you've been kicked in the back.
I've owned 4 & 5 litre cars in the past and I can honestly say the V70 drives like one of those. It's only a 2.3litre engine but when...
