If you want you can have it turn on automatically after 25 seconds (Settings ? Locks ? Auto Locks). Other functions worth mentioning: -  Calendar  Infrared  Alarm  Timer  Calculator  Note  Stopwatch A downside to the Sony Ericsson T610 is visibility of the screen when it is bright. This may pose a problem when out in direct sunlight. Also I have found the software to be slow on a number of occasions. Overall though I would recommend this mobile. Sony Ericsson T610 ? Not for sunny weather

Advantages: Lots of features, camera, cool look, Bluetooth
Disadvantages: Hard to see display in sunlight, slow software, Battery life

...I got the Sony Ericsson T610, after having owned a Motorola brick-like phone, a Nokia 3310, and then a Nokia 3510i. All I can say is that I do not regret switching from the Nokia phones. I got it free on contract several months ago but you can look to buy a Pay As You Go one for £159.99 to £199.99. You might be able to find one cheaper if you shop around. You can find one on eBay (new or old) and you might be able to find it in other phone shops or swap shops for a bit less than retail price. I think the phone looks great! It?s completely different to what I?ve had in the past and it even has a joystick, which I have never seen on a phone. Advantages: Small, lightweight, 65,000 colors, dual body colors, button spacing
Disadvantages: Difficult to use menu, 2MB memory, not many servicing centers, very poor tech support.

...The T610 is a cool phone to pull out- you've got one of the best displays around, bluetooth, camera, GPRS and some almost enjoyable games (a first for a mobile). The camera is a bit of a novelty, but handy for immortalizing moments at times when you would never have thought you would need a camera. It's not much good in low light, unforutnately. You can buy a flash that fits on the back, but you might as well save your pennies for a proper digital camera. Coming from a Nokia 6310, a number of things struck me. Firstly, the software is not as well designed as the Nokia. It's simple enough to use and understand, but it just takes too long to get things done. For example, to send a text message, it assumes you want to enter a number (cos I always know that off the top of my head...), then you have to select you want to seach for a contact...

T610 and GPRS via Bluetooth

...This is not a love song. It's an ode to a Geek. It's information on GPRS and Bluetooth using a Sony Ericsson T610. It works. I read and write emails via my service provider on the T610. No big deal. Just not long ones. I have also set up my Toshiba 3110CT Laptop to dialup to the Internet via a Bluetooth USB adapter and the Bluetooth interface on the T610. I use the dialler prefix of *99***1# in front of the ISP dialup number in the modem setup on the laptop. This seems to be standard in whatever country you're in as it tells the mobile phone you're about to dial an external number. The 1 before the hash is the number of the data accounts CID on your mobile phone. Most Bluetooth adapters come with PC/Laptop setup instructions so it should be all quite straight forward. Windows XP SP2 now has a Bluetooth client, but...

T610, there are better phones available

...robust either, I have dropped my Nokias in the past and they have shrugged it off without a hitch, but after dropping my first T610 out of my pocket when getting out of the car, the screen cracked and then stopped working altogether. I was sort of hoping that I might get a different phone as a replacement but no..another T610 arrived and then I found that all of my contacts had been stored by default onto the phones memory rather than onto the sim card and therefore lost forever so I had to spend a good amount of time re inputting the data from my diary and memory. Most of the phones in the office had only average to mediocre signal when away from town centers, this again "could" have been down to the service provider but we had used the same one for several years with different phones and none had been as poor as this, some users now...
