Motorola T720i - a good phone, 7 years ago

Advantages: Good mix of features
Disadvantages: No camera on board, Screen poor quality, Build quality bad etc

Having been released in Q4 2002, it is now virtually completely obsolete but can still be seen in some films depicting the early 2000s. Advantages: big keys, lightweight, good build quality and java games
Disadvantages: games can drain the battery quickly

Advantages: Flip case prevents accidental key presses
Disadvantages: Quiet ring tone, awkward texting

...I have used the Motorola T720 for around 6 months and I have found that it is not as good as I originally thought. Good Points First the good points - the battery life is good, it will last for 4 days with 2 or 3 calls and 5 or 6 texts daily. The flip case means that the phone can be put in a pocket or bag and not have the problem of phoning numbers accidently. You can download the usual games, ringtones and graphics to personalise the phone. Bad Points Now the bad points - the volume of the phone is very quiet, even on the loudest setting - I have missed countless calls because the phone has been in my pocket and I've not heard the ring - I now leave the phone on vibrate. Texting is awkward, the key presses required to start a new message is overly complex and texting using the internal dictionary is very frustrating...

T720i minus camera.

Advantages: Safe and compact, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Not enough accessories

...I own a T720. This is the baby brother of the T720i. The difference being mine does not have a camera. Big deal. Nothing worse than finding yourself in an embarassing situation and someone thrusting their phone in your face just to catch the moment you would much rather forget. Worst still finding everyone you know have saved your picture as wall paper. Anyway back to my baby. The T720 has turned out to be quite a reliable companion. The screen is large so I don't have to put my glasses on to check my messages. Apart from that you can change the text size and colour if you wish. The covers are interchangable, although only red, blue and silver are available in the UK. But you can find loads on the american web and they will post to the UK. ...What first appealed to me was the small size of this phone and its flip colour screen. However, the colour isn't as nearly as good as the photo they show in the shops. It's pretty poor colouring :( The major problem with this phone is that it simply cuts out. Whenever I load Wap or a game, it freezes and goes all black. I've had this mobile a year now, and it?s braking! Not very durable. The microphone is fading. Sometimes the person at the other end of the phone call cannot hear me, and hang-up because they think there's no one there... annoying! Also, the aerial is unreliable. It shows no signal even in places where other users of the same network are receiving full reception. The phones 'M' (Motorola logo) looks very stylish with a metal finish and it also doubles to be the speaker. There is a small stubby Ariel which is great as you haven?t got one of those ones that?s like a twig glued on to the end which stabs you in your pocket. ...When the T720 first came out it was one of the most wanted phones on the market. I have to admit, I got caught up in all of the hype about the phone. So I went out to buy myself one. It was cool. A lot of the features were pretty new to me (my previous one must have been a dinosaur). It had a full color screen. Many of the phones at the time had the big screen, as this one does, but only had the black and blue display. It was a novelty. Fortunately Verizon, my cellular provider, carried the T720 in it's list of products. The phone came with some extra features on it such as "Get it Now" (just verizon's gimmick playing on your vanity and need for games and thousands of different ring tones), and internet access. ...I know, I know, I have always said that I would never buy a Motorola, because I worked for them and knew all the phones faults (and trust me they do have a lot of faults) but I discovered the Motorola T720 :) One day I was sitting at work, bored out of my mind answering call after call after call and boy was I bored, when one of the trainers came and told me we had training on a new phone, 'great' I thought, 'another one to learn all it's faults on.'
