Asus TA-210 with "sticky" stealth-bay
Review of ASUS TA-210 by
adehh
Advantages: Sturdy, looks great, stealth-bays
Disadvantages: Stealth-bays, small interior
...This case is truly great to look at, and when turned on the blue power light looks really attractive. The stealth bays also add to the excellent aesthetics of this case. The case is a nice size and relatively thin.
To those who don't know or are unsure what a stealth bay is. Stealth bays offer a way of hiding away the CD-ROM drives in your computer, they normally have a spring operated panel which flips open when the CD-ROM tray is ejected and flips back into place when it is retracted leaving a flat panel instead of the front of a CD-ROM drive.
You may have noticed that I included the stealth-bays in both the advantages and the disadvantages for this case. Firstly the stealth-bays look amazing and I love the concept of hiding away those CD-ROM drives. Sadly on the TA-210 the second stealth bay doesn't close, it catches...

Ta-Dah! - A New Album From The Scissor Sisters!
Review of Scissor Sisters - Ta-Dah by
micksheff
Advantages: Some Good Songs
Disadvantages: A Couple Of Weaker Tracks
...There are many examples from the world of popular music of one hit wonders, and there are even several artists who have enjoyed a hugely successful debut album, and the singles associated with it, only to release a follow up effort and disappear forever into the dark realms of obscurity.
There was a time not too long ago when I feared that the Scissor Sisters just might have been the latest addition to this list.
Thankfully with the long overdue release of their second album, entitled "Ta-Dah" I somehow feel that the Scissor Sisters have little to worry about.
Recording of the Album began at the band's own custom built studio "Discoball" in the United States in the May of 2005, but it was to be 16 months later before the album would finally see the light of day. There had however been a few tasters of what we could expect...

Sont TA-FE370
Review of Sony TA-FE 370 by
royms
Advantages: Simple to use, good sound
Disadvantages: maybe too simple for some
...The Sony TA-FE370 looks and sounds good, and is simple to use.
It is fairly simple to install, although connecting the speaker cables was unneccesarily tricky, the connections could be more user friendly, all the other connections could not be more straight forward.
The sound is very clear and any adjustments are easy to make with the easy to use controls. The instructions are very clear and user friendly.
This amplifier is ideal for the non hi-fi expert, although "hi-fi buffs" will definitely be looking for a more sophisticated appliance with more buttons and functions..
I purchased this from Amazon at it was very reasonably priced reflecting the unsophisticated nature of the product, although tjhis does not stop it performing well and looking good....

Facebook, or FB to your friends.
Review of facebook.com by
bailey_kipper_uk
Advantages: Free, unlimited photos, find old friends
Disadvantages: Application invites get in the way of interesting stuff
...The latest buzz word is Facebook. Mention it and almost everyone will have heard of it being mentioned in the media, by their friends or be members themselves.
Facebook was started by a Uni graduate in America for Harvard University. It quickly expanded and after about 11 months (end of 2004) had 1 million users. As of the 11 July it now has 30 million active users.
I joined Facebook (FB for those people who like to say everything in under 5 letters) about 3 months ago and have been hooked since. I currently have about 108 friends and have loaded about 400 photos onto it. Below is a summary about some of the main features.
Photos
~~~~~
Photos are the main thing I currently use it for, as you can put any number of photo's on there that you like and only your friends can see them, or people that you choose. The good thing...
F&B Basildon, Essex (Festival Leisure)
Review of Frankie and Bennys, Basildon, Essex by
Christina666
Advantages: The Cocktails - the food -the music!
Disadvantages: how much you want to eat and drink! Service could be better
...(Sausage & Mash, Cod, Fishcakes, Pork Fillets etc.) Ranging between £7 - £9
The starters are also as delicious as the main courses! The prices of these range between £3 -£4, and have your usual selection of Potatoe Skins, Chicken wings, etc..
My personal favourite though if you are going to go for a starter is the F&B Sampler Platter. Designed for 2 to share, it costs £8.95 and for that you get 4 chicken wings, 2 Potatoe skins, 2 halves of corn on the cob, 4 bread sticks, 4 Onion rings, and an assortment of deep fried vegetables! Eww at the vegetables I hear you say, but deep fried and battered broccoli is really nice!
Deserts - as unusual as this is for me, there not actually something I have ever really tried! Because my Frankie & Benny's is based next door to our local night club, after my starters, Main course and lots...
top skinny scanner
Review of Canon CanoScan FB630U by
digbush
Advantages: small size, USB interface, software, speed
Disadvantages: easy to loose it !!
...Priced at just £99 for the smart looking silver version the Canon Canonscan FB630U represents the sort of value home office workers have been dreaming of. This scanner produces sharp quality scans at a reasonable speed while being compact enough to slip into a desk drawer or laptop bag when not in use. Initial set-up took less than ten minutes. The FB630 comes with a simple but effective scanning utility which, once installed, is activated by pushing the button on the front of the unit.. A photoshop aquire plug-in is also supplied. Scanning is quiet and speed is more than acceptable, given the units size and USB interface. Designers will always opt for bureau produced drum scans for print applications, and it would be foolish to believe that this scanner or any in it's class could compete at that level, but for general duties...
Canon Scanner
Review of Canon CanoScan FB630U by
ShaunK
Advantages: Good software, small, slim
Disadvantages: None
...The first things that you notice about the Canon FB630Ui scanner are the striking blue colour of the lid, and the diminutive size. Set up is pretty straightforward provided you know how to install software - the manual is not as helpful as it should be. The scanner itself takes power via the USB port so there's less leads to trail. Scanning a document is reasonably quick, and the one touch button to launch the relevant software is very useful. Supplied software is pretty comprehensive also. For a simple, inexpensive scanner, the Canon FB630Ui is hard to beat....
The TA for Students - now there's a bad idea?
Review of Territorial Army by
Pie_And_Chips
Advantages: You get paid, you have fun and it boosts your CV!!
Disadvantages: The politics involved and you could go to war!
...Where to start….I joined the TA back in 1996 whilst at university. I joined a branch of the TA which is called the Officers Training Corps (OTC), which is like the TA but for university students and to be honest it has been the best career move I have ever made in my life. If your at university and you need some cash, don't get a weekend job stacking shelves, get a weekend job playing soldiers, getting drunk having fun and learning something totally new. My experience of the OTC is one of fond memories where I went on numerous camps, training exercises, officer's dinners and above all I made a lot of friends, a lot who have proved to be very useful in my civilian life. The aim of the OTC is as a recruiting tool, if you like, for potential Army Officers, both TA and regular. It starts at fresher's week where, if your university...
Awesome monitor , great value.
Review of ViewSonic G90f+/b by
burgersoft777
Advantages: Great value for money
Disadvantages: a little lacking in focus (minor), large size due to CRT.
...I picked up my Viewsonic G90fb just this week as a present for my game mad son. The picture is pretty good overall although focus is not perfect. However at this price its performance is excellent. The blacks are very impressive and reminiscent of sony's CRTs the colour hues are rich and easy on the eye. My only criticism is that the screen display is a little darker than some monitors I have seen. In its price range though this remains an excellent monitor possible the best in its range. The screen is very flat as advertised and the controls are easy to use. There is a little distortion but you would be hard pressed to notice it. At very high resolutions though its not so hot. I had a minor difficulty installing the drivers but this was down to my relative inexperience with XP home (being 2000 pro user ) considering the price...
Scan-tastic
Review of Canon CanoScan FB630P by
Kyz22
Advantages: Small, compact, cheap, high res
Disadvantages: Noisy
...My Dad works with digital imagery for a living, he works for a company which prints loads of packaging and stuff for everyday household products and suchlike. When we got a computer it wasn’t long before we had a stack of CDs including Adobe Photoshop, Photopaint, Corel Draw, Quark, and pretty much every other imaging software you can imagine. However we still didn’t have the key ingredient to altering our own images, a scanner.
We wanted a scanner that would scan at a high resolution and allow us to edit, alter and retouch our photographs. We set out with a budget of £80 and wanted a high-resolution scanner that didn’t take up too much space. We stumbled across the CanoScan FB 630P in a Currys store where it was on special offer (I think it had just come out and they were trying to shift some of them to increase public interest). We...
