Marriott, Taba Heights
Review of Taba, Egypt by
ben27
Advantages: Sun, sea, sand, relaxation
Disadvantages: Food, entertainment
...After months of trying to decide on where to go on holiday we finally decided to go to egypt, somewhere myself and my girlfriend had both wanted to go. We decided on Taba, we hadn't heard much about it, but we didn't want to go somewhere to touristy and we were advised that this wasn't. We went in September and got a particually good deal on our holiday, half board for two weeks.
So after months of waiting it was finally time to go. We were flying with excel, a company neither of us had flown with before or heard of either. The flight took us about 5hrs, there were two films shown, Just my Luck and Over the Hedge, however headphones had to be bought £2.50, we had puzzle books to keep us amused though. A meal was given, which was not great, some kind of chicken and rice and sauce, you also got a bread roll, cracker, cream cheese...

Taba Heights in September
Review of Taba, Egypt by
Yasmine
Advantages: Sun, sand and snorkelling
Disadvantages: Not the place for lovers of shopping & entertainment
...My partner loves snorkelling, and we'd been promising ourselves a Red Sea holiday for some time, but only with the recent opening of Taba Airport (removing the need to travel via Israel) did we think it worth choosing Taba, which was until the 1980s 'Occupied Territory', rather than Smarm or Hurghada.
I knew that Taba Heights was an artificial green resort set down in the desert with no 'real' towns or villages anywhere nearby before | went, and it is vital to book any holdiay there knowing exactly what to expect. I also knew that the point, as far as the Egyptians were concerned, was to keep tourism (which their desperately poor economy needs) corralled in a place that was secure, defensible, and unlikely to provoke the wrath of conservative Egyptians. It's vital to be the kind of person who can generate your own amusement. We...

Marriott Beach Hotel Taba Heights
Review of Taba, Egypt by
packer2
Advantages: quiet relaxing break
Disadvantages: no where to go in the evenings really so need more entertainment in the hotel
...We went to taba in the easter break 2005 ,we landed at taba airport and had about a 45minute drive to the hotel ,and at first i thought what a building site as we drove through the mountain area ,but when we reached our hotel it was out of this world true 5 star luxury .please note security is very intense and a little off putting at first but is for your own good and you do get used to it guards are even located at the boundaries of all the hotels and on the beach .This really is paradise the hotel is one of only a handful in taba heights all mainly 5star like the sofitel and hyatt regancy and all situated on the beach of the red sea you really are isolated ,this is the perfect holiday to just chill and relax you really are isolated no shops or roads to walk down just the beach front .you can get a bus on the hour everyday to water...

Another day in taba heights
Review of Taba Heights Marriott Beach Resort, South Sinai by
Bestboots
Advantages: Temperature, Swimming pool, gorgeous beach, cheap
Disadvantages: Food, constant badgering, flight and airline
...We went to the Marriott Beach Resort at the end of August, the last week of the peak holiday season. We flew from Manchester direct to Taba International which is about 30-45mins away from the resort. The flight on the way out was at 1.55pm on a Monday, which is the only day and time you can fly out there. From Manchester there is only one tour operator who provide holidays to this particular part of Egypt called \'Peltours\', and the airline is \'Astreus\', a fairly new airline, and also a very small one.
This particular airline have very small planes, seated 3 at each window with a small isle in between. If you are travelling as a couple, please request seats next to each other on the plane, as we made the mistake of not doing, and we were seperated on the way there by the aisle. There is absolutely no room on the plane whatsoever...

Time for a full body detox? maybe taba's ur thing
Review of Taba, Egypt by
gr33narrow
Advantages: beautiful, peaceful, private and reguvinating
Disadvantages: none existant night life shopping, and travelling to and from
...Ever looked at a postcard of a beach and thought id love to be there, well this is one of those beaches; clear, clean, beautiful blue water, and beautiful sand. And if privacy is your thing they well this is definitely for your thing, i am one to enjoy kicking back with a great novel and relaxing, and this was definitely what i got from Taba. Almost felt like i had my own strip of beach that i could walk up and down and meet the occasional friendly stranger, and possibly a native.
But, and yes there is a but. It is not all great, the downsides to this resort; firstly its a resort so as you can imagine there is a lack of culture and native people, so if your going to do a little historical traveling then this is a pass. Also the food is well, not for everyone,i have a mother from Egypt, yet i still found it difficult to enjoy the food....

Marriot Hotel-Taba
Review of Taba, Egypt by
KerrieW
Advantages: Constant sunshine, blissful conditions, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Expensive drinks
...... and thats before you venture into the water sports or outside of the hotel.
If you want nightlife then dont choose Taba, go to the busier Sharm-el-Shiek. But if you prefer a more relaxed holiday this is the place to go. There is still plenty to do in the evenings, the nearby little town has plenty of restaurants and a couple bars as well as a lovely new golf course if you like that kind of thing.
In addition, we went scuba diving, snorkelling, para gliding, safari jeep ride into the desert, quad biking, walking trip to coloured canyon (amazing), private beduin nights, water skiing and shopping in the market town of Dahab... so as you can see there is a wide variety of things to do and thats before you take a breather to sunbathe in the hammocks on the edge of the beach being waited on by the waiters.
My first trip was myself and a girl...

Radisson SAS - Taba Egypt
Review of Radisson SAS Resort, Taba by
daylehall
Advantages: Beautiful setting, clean hotel
Disadvantages: Entertainment was poor
...it deserved to be rated as a 5 star!
The rooms were large, I shared with a friend and we had a double bed each. Also in the room was a fridge, a tv, plenty of storage place for clothes, a table and chairs and a storage space designed for suitcases, which was very useful as it kept them out the way. The rooms had large bathrooms, with a full size bath and regular hot water. You also got free Sky Tv out there which was useful between 4-6 when the sun has gone down but it was too early for dinner.
I really would recomend the hotel to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday, however, if you were looking to see the sights of Egypt then you would probabaly be better going to Sharm as in Taba you are quite a long journey from the main sights of Egypt....

Egypt, Taba, Nuweiba, the bombs didn't stop us!
Review of General: Egypt by
chatterbox3110
Advantages: History, atmosphere, weather.... I could go on!
Disadvantages: Not for you if you hate to haggle!
...Hearing on the news that bombs have exploded with tragic consequences at a destination you have just locked your suitcase to travel to is not the best start to any holiday. We spent the whole of the day before we travelled to Taba and Nuweiba constantly on the phone to our tour operator (Libra Holidays) and the Foreign Office, both advising us that it was safe to travel.
Being the staunch Brits that we are, we arrived at Gatwick airport the following day, the two ladies of the party feeling much trepidation, whilst the two men headed for the bar! A couple of drinks later and the Egyptian jokes started to flow 'Do you sphinx it will be safe there? I hope the camels haven't got the hump with us.......' you know the type, this set the mood for our whole week's stay! Our flight was not full - there were many who had decided not to take...

A Room With A View
Review of Taba, Egypt by
VanillaSpy
Advantages: Guaranteed sunshine. The private beach is safe, clean and half empty and the staff are lovely.
Disadvantages: The dreaded Pharoah's curse! I didn't meet anyone who had not suffered from a stomach upset.
...Perhaps when you are in the first throws of a new relationship, there is very little a luxury holiday abroad can do to wipe the smile off your face. Maybe my boyfriend and I were both so tired that we were floating around on cloud nine without even realising it.
However I prefer to think that our week at the four star SAS Radisson Hotel in Taba Heights seemed perfect to us simply because it was.
The hotel is one of only four in Taba which is an up and coming resort on the east coast of Egypt just south of Eilat. It's position makes it convenient for day trips to Israel, Jordan and Saudi Arabia and the reps are keen to emphasise that these are safe to do but you will spend a good few hours getting through the borders and it just doesn't seem worth it when you're only on holiday for a week.
There are mountains everywhere you look...

Go now, before everyone gets to know about it.
Review of Taba, Egypt by
AnneMarieIsted
Advantages: Bargain holidays available at 4 and 5 star hotels
Disadvantages: None
...I visited the Red Sea resort of Taba, in Egypt, with my partner, in February 2004. We went with Longwood travel, and booked through Ezy Travel which was the cheapest travel agent by far, run by two Egyptian brothers who really know their stuff (you can find them on teletext). We paid £585 each for two weeks at the Radisson, a 5 star hotel, on an all-inclusive basis, which is a bargain in anyone's money!
We flew to the new airport at Taba Heights. From there it is about 45 mins transfer by coach to the hotel. Taba is very close to the Israeli border and some airlines fly into Ovda, but I wouldn't recommend it. Not only is there a 2 hour transfer, but it involves a border crossing which can take between one and two hours - longer on a bad day. Suffice to say that there is not much co-operation between the Israeli side...
