CK Be noticed
Review of Calvin Klein CK Be by
polishedpoo
Advantages: Beautiful aroma
Disadvantages: none
..." - for these are not good. (pretty repulsive actually).
Girls, give up on the "Exclamation" and "Charlie" - for these are cheap and nasty, with the about the same amount of appeal as Anthea Turner eating a chocolate bar, whilst slobbering over Grant Bovey, who is wearing "Tabac".
And Finally, Ladies, Stop using "Anais Anais" and "Lou Lou", they smell like the ransid marzipan on a christmas cake that was baked in 1978.
BUY C.K.Be, it rocks!!!...

Welcome to Bold Street, Liverpool
Review of Bold Street by
lynscoll5
Advantages: Great modern area
Disadvantages: Crowded sometimes
...Shopping in my hometown of Liverpool is great when you compare it with other small towns and cities. There are hundreds of shops crammed into one small area.
The area I am writing this opinion on though is BOLD STREET. Bold street is situated off the main area of Church street and is the place to be seen with trendy bars and bar cafes.
Starting from the top as we go down the road there is a...
>Barclays Bank
>Liverpool shop
>Coffee union
>Dane furniture
>Bar Tabac
>Waterstones.
In between all of these shops you will find some great little shops like Chandlers, Home and Bargain, Maggie Mays coffee house, The works books and lots more.
Leading off this road is Liverpool Central station which takes you to other areas of the city pretty quick. Also busses are available at either end of the road.
There are about 12 cafe's on or just...

You can see the Lot
Review of Southwestern France by
orlando
Advantages: Off the beaten track
Disadvantages: None
.... These are the Autoroute numbers, but they share the route number with a green number E15 and E15/19. I can only assume that these were originally the equivalent to our A roads, but then became Auroroutes, so adopted an'A' number, too. Very confusing when you are not used to it, but it becomes second nature to look for both or all the numbers. At one point in Paris, the road had four different route numbers, so I was really pleased that I purchased the TomTom or I would still be on the ringroad now!
We journeyed around the east of Paris, so no good views, just the dirty suburbs. Then onward along the A10/E05 towards Orleans. We were limited in what we saw of Orleans as it was only a stop over, but we had an evening walk around the centre, and saw the huge cathedral, and some pleasant pedestrianised shopping roads. There were tourist attractions about Joan...

Small and friendly
Review of Marseille by
cpwill
Advantages: small, friendly, good facilities
Disadvantages: none
...and are clean and relaxing.
I bought a paper in the Tabac Presse shop in the small shopping area at the centre of the airport, the shop had a good selection of UK newspapers and English paperbacks, also some gifts, most notably the shirts and momento's of Marseille's football team Olympic Marseille. I bought my football mad son a shirt.
The shopping centre also has a Pharmacy, and a shop selling a range of Provencal gifts.
I sat and read my paper ine one of the bistro's and was served a delicious cafetiere of fresh coffee with croissants while the Marseille sunshine filtered through the windows.
There was a relaxed atmosphere, people were walking about with luggage trolleys, and backpackers passing through
As in most airports there is a waiting area in front of a large window looking out into the runway where people can watch the the planes taking...

A 3* hotel at 2* price!
Review of Les Trois Poussins Hotel, Paris by
Ottilie
Advantages: Clean, comfortable and friendly
Disadvantages: Not central to the Left Bank (but great for 'Grand Boulevards' and Montmartre etc)
...Arriving in Paris last weekend we found that the hotel we booked from the UK was little more than a doss house so we left on our high horses only to find that we were homeless in Paris on a Friday afternoon! IÕd brought a TIME OUT guide, that had been given away free a few weeks before, with me and desperately rang round places featured (buy a phone card from any Tabac if you need to use the phone - the minimum is £5 but virtually all call boxes take only cards now, not cash). ÔThree PoussinsÕ had a room for FF850 (£85) per night but, if you mention the TIME OUT offer, it comes down to FF680 (£68) per night. When we actually got there we were shown another room as well for FF560 (£56) - it was small but very clean and comfortable and only £11 per night more than the flea pit!
The staff were really helpful and breakfast is great...

A Few Old Churches?
Review of Prague (Czech Republic) by
helencbradshaw
Advantages: Compact and easy to walk around, plenty to see and do in five days
Disadvantages: can be overcrowded with tourists at times
...just north of Charles Bridge - that links Little Quarter with the Jewish Quarter, however these are not my idea of enjoyment.
Transportation
------------------
It is possible to purchase tickets which cover both the electric trams, underground and buses for very affordable pricing across several days. Tickets can be bought at a tabac or at a station and should be validated at the ticket machines before making the first journey. If you don’t have a ticket you risk a fine, and it isn’t always possible to buy a ticket at a machine at a tram station. Public transport tends to be very busy and tickets are rarely checked but the sooner you can get to a station and buy a ticket the better, as there are heavy fines for passengers travelling without a ticket. We bought a three day ticket which we did not use all that much, but it was invaluable when...

A long weekend in Appart'City, Lille
Review of Appart'City, Lille by
jane_tew
Advantages: Price, self-contained professional apartments, high quality accommodation
Disadvantages: Slightly cramped, a little way out of town
...... you get none of the quaint traditional architecture you might be looking for, but you do get quality fittings, and a fully equipped (in small quantities) kitchenette with fridge & hob facilities. Great if you don't want to spend money eating out & prefer to buy your cheap wine to drink back at base! There's no bar in the building itself, although there's a nice local one about 2mins walk away, which doubles as cafe/restaurant and tabac/newsagent as well as serving draught beers including a dark beer - important for those real ale drinkers who aren't into the usual lagers! We didn't spend much time looking round the Madeleine area, although it does advertise itself as a shopping area. We walked to & from Lille town centre at least once a day, which was absolutely fine. Our only disappointment with the apartment was that it had a sofabed...

Review of Davidoff Cool Water by
KatiePuckrik
Advantages: Fresh smell
Disadvantages: Naff packaging and a bit too common
...route as Dunhill did. they started off making designer cigarettes then branched out into clothes and fashion. Davidoff cigarettes are availiable in shops still. Davidoff clothes aren't that widely availiable in the UK. But luckily this scent is!
The packaging looks slightly ropey. I know it's called "Cool Water" so the best design for the bottle would be a blue, translucent bottle, wouldn't it? But the name and the packaging just looks so dated. The name "Cool water" just strikes me of "Brut", "old Spice" and "Tabac"! It's just such a cheesy name! So, points lost on the appearence.
The scent is where points are made up! Cool Water is a distinctly fresh smell. It is not overpowering, but it isn't so slight that you can't smell it without drowning yourself in it. Cool water isn't unique in this respect though. L'eau D'Issey is an equally...

Sant Omerrrrrrr
Review of St. Omer (France) by
stellar371
Advantages: Small, attractive buildings, friendly people, close to several sights
Disadvantages: Shops quite small, dog mess
...is only about a metre squared.
Majuscule sells fountain pens, books, stationery galore and art materials, but for magazines try a newsagents' which will have a yellow "Tabac" sign above it. There are many.
Marche Plus is a little supermarket that has a good selection of wine etc, as well as cheese, chocolate and other treats. It's handy if you can't be bothered to drive to Auchan which is in a suburb called Longuenesse, not too far out, or Carrefour which is a little closer.
For more original items, there are several artistic boutiques in town selling paintings, sketches and postcards among other things; a good one is diagonally opposite Hotel les Frangins. Next to that shop is a delightful "furniture" shop which sells everything from Degrenne silver cutlery, through tea sets and tablecloths through to Swarovski crystal. Expensive, of course...
