1000's in Oriental Food Hall Pigout
Review of Oriental City, London by  rayliu

Advantages: Great selection of different oriental food mostly delicious, Reasonable prices, Rowdy Atmosphere
Disadvantages: Not really a shopping centre, Rowdy Atmosphere

...that was just there solely for people to go and try out different dishes from all sorts of oriental cuisine? That’s what Oriental City is. Opened in the early 90's Oriental City based in Colindale, North London has been renowned for the shopping centre of oriental food. It started life as YaoHan named after the south-east Asia shopping/hotel consortium. YaoHan went bankrupt in the mid-90's and the Colindale location faced closure but a group of Japanese businessmen decided that it was too good to shut down, so they bought it and it continues to this day! I’m so happy it still exists as its one of my favourite eating places. Walking into Oriental City through its main doors, you are quickly overwhelmed by the huge food court in front of you. Hundred of tables and seats are laid out in the centre just like any other food court. The difference... Read review

The Orient - far from Oriental in look and service
Review of The Orient Restaurant, Sandbach, Cheshire by  koshkha

Advantages: Great food - eventually
Disadvantages: Over excitable aircon and music was much too lound

...a detour to pop into town and have a look around. But back to The Orient. Each day when I passed the restaurant I'd developed an almost Pavlovian response. Seeing the restaurant triggered the thought 'Must go there next time hubby is visiting' but despite the urge, the opportunity didn't come around until last week when, faced with an empty fridge, I rang up and booked a table. How to Find The Orient Yes, it's tempting to say "Cross the English Channel and keep going" - tempting but not very useful. If you find yourself in Sandbach, the Orient is on Middlewich Road, on the opposite side of the road to the place where you'll find McDonalds, Aldi and the Health Centre and very close to the Cheshire Council building. For parking, during the day you can use the car park opposite although in the evening the parking closest to Aldi... Read review

Oriental Dining experience
Review of The Oriental Restaurant, Ipswich by  laramax

Advantages: Easy parking
Disadvantages: A little way from the town centre

...and the leisurely service gave us ample opportunity to chat during the meal. We sat down at our table at 7.45pm and did not leave the restaurant until 10.40pm. Overall is was a very enjoyable meal at a reasonable cost - the total bill for the seven of us was £120 (excluding drinks). I would be concerned about parking for future visits as it is very limited for a restaurant of this size. The staff were very pleasant and eager to please and the food was delicious. Disabled access at this restaurant is good - access for all is at the rear of the building facing the car park. There is a ramp as well as steps to the entrance and the restaurant is level and easily accessible. The Oriental Restaurant 45 Chevallier St Ipswich, IP1 2PQ 01473 231101... Read review

a very enjoyable afternoon on the Orient Express
Review of orient-express.com by  mjn

Advantages: Excellent food in a romantic atmosphere
Disadvantages: Expensive perhaps

...Telephone: 0878 1615060 Last June my wife and I spent a very enjoyable afternoon on the Orient Express. The trip, costing approximately £400 for two people, buys you a "Movable Feast", a five-course meal and a five hour train ride through the Kent countryside. The journey will depend on where you join the train. The Orient Express runs journeys all over the UK main land and a small number of continental destinations are also available (these would obviously be much more expensive). There is also the choice of being “pulled” by a diesel locomotive or Steam Engine, although this will cost more. Our day started at about 11.30 a.m. when we embarked at Victoria Station. We were shown to our seats on a particular carriage that was a work of art straight out of an Agatha Christie novel. You sit at individual tables seated... Read review

Orienteering - why?
Review of Orienteering - General by  TommyC109

Advantages: Combination of mental and physical challenge
Disadvantages: Has a lame reputation - undeserved

...I've tried many, many sports in my life, especially at university, and the only one that has held my attention for that whole time is orienteering. No other sport can compete in terms of mental and physical challenge and enjoyment. But what is it exactly? Well first and foremost, orienteering events are races - not walks in the park like in Scouts, or at school, and not treasure hunts. To do well in an orienteering race at the top level, you can expect to have to run hard for over an hour over all kinds of difficult terrain, all the while trying to keep in touch with the map to keep yourself running in the right direction. A course will consist of 10-30 control points, and the race will usually be a time-trial race from point-to-point. But races are many things to many people, and orienteering caters for those who are competing... Read review

A taste of the Orient.
Review of Walkers Sensations - Oriental Crackers by  broomari

Advantages: Very tasty exotic flavours.
Disadvantages: Very addictive and a little pricey for snacks.

...After several years of eating Walkers crisps and snacks and Walkers not bringing out anything new, I got bored of eating their products and went off in search of other brands. I had not eaten any Walkers products for quite some time now, until recently… I am a massive fan of Chinese/Cantonese and Thai food, in fact I prefer eating these types of food compared to English foods. I first spotted the Walkers Sensations crisps and snacks range several months back when they first came out at Asda. Although my favourite are the Thai sweet chilli crisps, I am going to stick to the oriental crackers. When I first spotted the oriental crackers, I thought they looked to good to be true. I thought it was just a gimmick to try and grab money and I thought to myself I bet Chinese people don’t eat snacks like these in their country, but how... Read review

Mandarin Oriental is Luxurious
Review of Mandarin Oriental Hotel,Kuala Lumpur by  ashford

Advantages: Luxurious. Great Location. Excellent Restaurants
Disadvantages: Pricy

...For the discerning and well-heeled visitor looking out for something more than just a place to put up for the night and a cool shower, a profusion of 5 star luxury hotels have been developed in Kuala Lumpur, the commercial capital of Malaysia. Among the most luxurious of them all is the Mandarin Oriental. Marketing people in the hospitality industry usually emphasise the importance of location, location and location. Well the Mandarin Oriental enjoys a superb location by the KLCC - the Kuala Lumpur City Centre-at the Petronas Twin Towers-the tallest building in the world. The place is renowned among business travellers for its luxurious hospitality, style and comfort. All of its de luxe rooms are superbly furnished and with individually controlled air conditioning, an in room safe, colour TV with movie and news channls, music... Read review

Review of Toning Tables by  little_red_hen

Advantages: Fun way to get in shape, and of course there's the vibrating table !
Disadvantages: Possibly the cost, depending on where you go

...Ever thought about using Toning Tables? Wondered about toning up and trimming down all those wobbly bits! I have discovered this lovely place to visit where I can relax while shaping up! There's even a vibrating table! What Slender You says: Slender You® has been in business since 1983 as the world's largest motorized fitness system. Since the opening of the first Slender You® Figure Salon in Orlando, Florida over 20 years ago, more than 3,000 salons have opened worldwide with locations throughout Europe and in all of the fifty states including the Caribbean. So on with the review! On a friends recommendation I booked in for a free trial session at 'Slender You Ltd' in Colchester Essex. I was requested to take a small towel, and wear long-legged loose or stretchy trousers/ joggers/ leggings. I arrived, parked right outside... Read review

MURDER OF THE ORIENT EXPRESS (PC 2006)

Would you ride the Orient Express?
Review of Agatha Christie's Murder On The Orient Express DVD by  lizawithaz

Advantages: Beautiful to watch, wonderfully acted...and you'll never guess who did it!
Disadvantages: Albert Finney's rather strange moustache

...BEHIND THE SCENES/CAST The first of a series of four Agatha Christie films to be released during the 1970's - 80's, 'Murder on the Orient Express' found great success with a wide audience and has stayed a firm favourite with movie fans the world over since. Due mainly to the strength of its plot and the acting ability of the ensemble cast its success has led to it being put out in a DVD format alone, rather than in a box set with the other three. The cast is an excellent one; a gathering of such famous people was literally unheard of. We have the notable theatre actor Albert Finney playing the great detective Hercule Poirot, with what I think is a restrained and engaging performance. Lauren Bacall plays the American Mrs Hubbard who irritates and annoys the entire journey. The stellar cast also includes an Oscar winning performance... Read review
