Table Tennis - And it's a winner!
Review of Table Tennis - General by
alex2000_mc
Advantages: Helps maintain physical fitness, Easy to learn
Disadvantages: Difficult to Master, Learners could damage their equipment
...Table Tennis is a sport very similar to Tennis, but is played on a Table with dimensions 9 feet in length and 5 feet in width. A net which is 6 inches high, divides the table into two halves. The table is a smooth finished surface made of processed timber. Each half is further demarcated into two, to assist in doubles, the rules of which are explained later.
Players use a variety of Racquets, ranging from fast ones to spinny ones and a ball which is extremely light and made of a compound of camphor to play the game.
This indoor Sport commonly known as Ping Pong is surprisingly addictive. I began playing at the age of 5, merely as a hobby for almost 7 years. Soon i realized that i had begun to make significant progress and it was time for me to nurture my talent. Hence, i began training under a well known coach and a year later found...

PING PONG YOURSELF INTO SHAPE
Review of Table Tennis - General by
Versatile
Advantages: All in opinion
Disadvantages: All in opinion
...It all started when I first represented my school for the tennis team – from the moment I put a racket in my hand I knew that was the sport for me. Netball, hockey, gymnastics and athletics were not my idea of a games period and never really enjoyed participating in any of those activities. The only sport I was interested in playing was tennis – so I bought myself a Prince racket and played in tournaments representing my school and other tournaments outside of school.
One afternoon all the tennis courts were water logged and so we decided to play a game of table tennis. Table tennis is a miniature version of tennis; you still have the net that goes across the table and all the white markings like a tennis court. The only real difference is the rules of the game (which I will outline soon). I was quite a good tennis player but my...

It's not a racket
Review of Table Tennis - General by
WarpFactor9
Advantages: Great fun and can keep you fit.
Disadvantages: None I can think of?
...=THE HISTORY=
From what I could find, the earliest form of the sport, called indoor tennis, was played in the early 1880s by British army officers in India and South Africa, they started using lids from cigar boxes as paddles and corks from wine bottles shaped to form a ball, with some books stood up across the middle of a table to divide the table.
There where versions developed in England around the 1890s, known as "whiff whaff" and "gossima," Then “Parker Brothers” began making indoor tennis kits that included a net that could be fixed to a table, a small ball with netting cover (Sounds weird) and small paddles.
James Gibb, an Englishman who went to the United States in 1900, brought some hollow celluloid balls home and tried these out with friends. Gibb came up with the name "ping pong," because the sound...

Chinese Supremacy
Review of Table Tennis - General by
jimbuck
Advantages: Great game for keepin the muscles in shape
Disadvantages: I'm too old to play now Grrr!
...My first memories of Table Tennis were in the late forties when I was given a Table Tennis set for Xmas. The large box contained a net and two fixing brackets, two balls and two bats, which, as it was just after the war, had something like sandpaper instead of the pimpled rubber that we get now. The opened out dining room table served pretty well as a “Ping Pong” table being about six feet long and three feet wide. It was under such conditions that I learned to play and love the game of Table Tennis.
When it came to playing on a full size table many years later, the rainy days in the house playing Table Tennis and trying to emulate the great Johnny Leach, held me in good stead as I had learned the art of placing the ball just where I wanted to. On a small table you have to be careful or you keep losing points and matches...

Toning Tables that exercise and vibrate!
Review of Toning Tables by
little_red_hen
Advantages: Fun way to get in shape, and of course there's the vibrating table !
Disadvantages: Possibly the cost, depending on where you go
...in resistance to the pads, (for a count of 20 and then relax for 20 before repeating) which pull against each of my buttocks in turn!
Now that I go regularly I spend the second 5 minutes sitting on the pads, with legs outstretched, this works on the lower buttock area.
Table No 2
This is the Leg machine! Rather comical but quite effective! For the first five minutes, while lying on my back, with my knees up, I was instructed to put my feet up in the stirrups, and place a tennis ball between my knees! (I know you are reminded of childbirth! But it is still funny!) When the machine is started up, your feet are moved in circular motions, The second five minutes are spent with feet in the stirrups at a different angle, no tennis ball this time, to work on the inside leg muscles. This table is supposed to tone and firm, and lose inches from your...

The Grand Theft Auto of sports simulation
Review of Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis (Xbox 360) by
mettrick
Advantages: Innovative gameplay, great visuals and an excellent price
Disadvantages: limited by the fact it is essentially a table tennis game.
...When you think of rockstar games you think GTA. This means violence and blowing stuff up. However, it also means innovative gameplay and groundbreaking ideas. This is where Table Tennis comes in. I was a bit sceptical about buying a table tennis game and did cnsider it for a long time. I hope this review makes you make a quicker decision.
Of all the games I have played for xbox 360 this has perhaps the best visuals. The framerate is consistently smooth throughout offline play and only on occasion do you experience a drop in frame rate in online play. The character viewer is a bit of a show off feature and has no real function but is worh looking at just to show how smooth the textures really are.
Now to the gameplay. The gameplay appears very simple at first and seems to have little complexity. A glorified version of Pong perhaps...

Forget Harvard University Get Harvard Tables
Review of Harvard Table Football by
jackiechan
Advantages: Great fun and well made
Disadvantages: None
...Harvard are a fantastic maker of most football table, pool tables, table tennis tables and snooker tables. I will be reviewing their table football table.
I have recently purchased this item on ebay, I have found it to be a great buy, for a bargain of £40 it was great, but I must warn you that I have done my research and that these table can cost between £200-£300 as new. This fantastic table is made of pine and is very durable and strong.
**Durability**
As I bought this from second hand I do not know how durable it is from new. I bought it with a fue bumps and scrapes. It hasn't had much more damage to it from when I bought it and is very durable. It is a very heavy table and very thick this makes it last much longer.
**Scoreboard**
The scoreboard is 10 cubes on a stick that slide across on a rail. When you score a goal you...

Best sport to play
Review of Table Tennis - General by
laserquester
Advantages: good fun
Disadvantages: tiring
...I have been a table tennis player for 7 years now, and I can honestly say it is the best game I have ever played. Even from the early days as a begginner to now, when I am a serious player in the local Senior league I have found it to be fun, and exhuasting.
Many people assume as the space of play is so small that you can not get tired playing, well try it and you will see just how tiring it is. Fast forehand rallies with speed and accuracy, or slow backhand chop rallies which require the utmost concentration to win the point.
Serves which can win or lose the point, even if it is 10 shots later. A bad serve and you are on the rack, a good serve and you are in control.
I have nearly always found opponents to be great sportsmen and gallant losers or winners. With occasional brief conversation in between points, and laughs...
