It works by means of powerful magnets which actually set up a circuit which causes the pan to get hot rather than the hob. There is some heat from the pan that transfers to the glass top of the hob so it does feel hot to the touch when you remove the pan but only where the pan has been standing, all around the pan stays cool - that means if you spill something on to the hob it doesn't burn on. Also if you switch the hob on but don't put a pan on it then it doesn't get warm at all, in fact on this hob it switches itself off after a minute. The top is uncovered, so occasionally balls can fly out of the pitch, and the rods and pitch gather some dust. A dusting and a squirt of silicone spray is all the maintenance it needs. I actually bought Hob Brite a few months ago and have been using it since , about once a week to polish up my hob unit . I have a Baumatic inset oven with a ceramic gas hob . I have had this a few years now but it is still in reasonable condition as I try to look after it . I used to just give it a wipe with a mixture of warm water and washing up liquid , cleaning the metal burner rings with a scouring powder or pad . ...rid of any dirty marks. Sometimes it may need to be used twice if there is a lot of dirt on the hob. Usually a lot of dirt comes off and I am left with a very clean hob. It almost sparkles it's that shiny. I usually use this quite regularly, it can be used daily if necessary. I bought my Hob Brite at the supermarket it is beside all other cleaning household products. For the 300ml bottle it costs £1.69 I think and this bottle can last a long time as I have not had to replace it very regularly. One thing I notices is the top it doesn't click down firmly on my bottle and I feel if I were to knock it over the white product would spill out on the floor causin a mess. ...A couple of summer's ago, my husband gutted our old kitchen and put me in a nice new one with all the mod cons, including my new halogen hob! He told me I needed to be careful when cleaning it and the maufacturer's instruction for cleaning recommended Hob Brite, by Homecare. I tootled off to Tesco and found it very easily, in with the rest of the household cleaning products. It cost at the time about £1.25 but it's since gone up in price a little and the last bottle I bought cost me £1.39 from Sainsbury's - the bottle contains 300ml, and to my knowledge does not come in any different sizes. The first time I used my new hob I'd cooked us all a spaghetti bolognese and there were a few splashes of sauce sprinkled over the hob. ...warm tones, so I'm assuming it's supposed to be resembling the idea of the oats within the biscuits. Along a wide orange stripe McVities trademark name is at the top, 'Hob Nobs' in white lettering stretched across the middle, and 'nobbly, Oaty biscuit' in smaller writing below this. Along a blue stripe writes a slogan 'The sign of a better biscuit' that is also used in television advertising today along with the all familiar 'We make the biscuits, you make the crumbs'. It tells us also that these are a good source of fibre, and no artificial flavours or colours are used. That'll console you when you've eaten half a packet, 67 calaries per biccy! I have tried to blow it out but could only manage to extinguish the smallest burner whilst it was set to its lowest setting so it doesn't appear to be a problem. The nicest thing is that it lights first time and stays lit. The pan supports are also enamelled and are in two sections which means it's easier to clean (fits in the sink or dishwasher...if you're lucky enough to have one!)whereas the old was the full size of the hob top and rather large meaning it rarely got cleaned! There are four burners, one small simmering burner, two medium burners and a huge triple wok burner which features an interesting whistle. ...It was over a year ago now when hubby and I were looking into getting some toys for our more and more active toddler (she was about 15 months old at the time) when we found what has turned out to be the biggest bargain ever in Argos. The Tomy activity table. We bought it for £5.99 reduced from £19.99. Well I went and picked up the big box and brought it home. Taking the pieces out it was obvious how it all fitted together. Two large chucky capital I shaped legs slip into grips on the underside of the chunky lime green top.(around 12 inches by 8 inches) On top of the table top is a darker green lid which makes the table useable as a table for doing activities on/eating snacks off etc but under this lid are the activities. ...Little Tikes make a lot of plastic outdoor equipment for children. I have seen and used this large table at several child care situations. Little Tikes make robust equipment. This table is suitable for playgroup or nursery. It is also suitable for home use. The table and fixed benches either side are well contoured and smooth no rough edges. The little tikes table top is yellow the seats blue the legs and fitting for the table to seats is blue. The colours are bright primary colours which will eventually fade of course especially if left out doors. I just noticed there is an alternative colour yellow table dark green legs and lighter green seat. The colours in the picture may be available but it may be an eatrlier coulouring as I can not find this one on lione , think I have sat and played at a grey table top in the past... Read review
