Reviews of tablet laptops
keeps laptop locked.
Review of Secureline Secure Laptop Lock LL-K by
playdot
Advantages: easy to use.
Disadvantages: It's only bad if you are the one stealing it,
...I got this free with my laptop and have only used it a few times but have found it to be useful for your laptop secure from thieves.
It locks into the side of your laptop its name is a security slot and is only released with a key or in other models a number lock.
At two meters in length its should always reach where you need it to go.
So if you're on the go this is how you do should protect your laptop from being stolen.
The instructions say this that lock is not only for Laptops. this can also be used to secure tablet PC's, external portable drivers, LCD monitors, printers, scanners, Ethernet switches, KVM switches, multiplexers, routers, wireless access points, cameras, CD players, cell phones, MP3 players, pagers, PDA's, portable TV's, and projectors with a built in security slots.
It also states that with the Secure Laptop...

The Best of a Dying Generation
Review of HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1000 - TM5800 1 GHz - 10.4" TFT by
Meshek
Advantages: Tablet PC, Light, Quite Good Battery Life
Disadvantages: Hinge Fairly Weak, Second Generation Tablets Available
...Introduction
------------
Tablet PCs where officially launched on November 7th 2002 with a Keynote speech made by Bill gates in New York. The basic principle was to combine a laptop and graphics tablet, so that it is in effect possible to draw or write notes directly to the screen. Despite the initial good press and hype surrounding it however sales of these devices were sluggish and are only now beginning to pick up. The main reason for this is that initially the Hardware and Software were not up to scratch. The later has largely been solved as new software and patches have been released (more later on upcoming developments). The former however has only fairly recently been solved by the second generation of Tablets which solve almost all of the hardware problems. This tablet unfortunately belongs to the first generation and although...

A Lifebook to make Life Easier
Review of Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook T4210 - Core Duo T2400 1.83 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
Odysseus4
Advantages: Really small and easy to transport
Disadvantages: Gets a little hot plus finding a smaller enough case not easy!
...My husband bought this laptop to replace our large and ageing Toshiba laptop - without telling me I might add, but I am so pleased with it that I forgive him easily! For the technically minded (which I am not very) the following are the specs:
Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook T4120
Intel T2400 @ 1.83Ghz Core Duo
512mb Memory
12.1" LCD Display
CD/DVD Re-writer
Running Windows XP Pro Tablet PC Version
The main selling point for us (OK well for him) was the compact size and relatively light weight. The machine is fast and silent but does get rather hot if used for long periods - which means I need to get a lap tray for my husband's knees! Battery life (in the real world) is an acceptable 2 hours or so.
Now - what makes this laptop different from others on the market is that the screen rotates and folds down over the keyboard turning...

Lightweight Tablet Notebook
Review of Toshiba Portege M200 - Pentium M 755 2 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
schwana
Advantages: Long battery life, eaasy to use in tablet mode, quick
Disadvantages: Needs a spare pen, keyboard layout.
...General
I have been using this tablet for two years now, both at home and work, and I'm so impressed with it that it has become my main computer, replacing both my work and home desktop. By connecting an external USB keyboard and mouse, the tablet can be propped up in the portrait configuration, which is great for writing documents, and is cheaper than buying the docking station! This also takes advantage of the USB ports being on the rear of the tablet rather than on the side.
Ease of Use
The tablet is very light, and has a battery life of over 4 hours. This makes it ideal for walking around making notes in my work environment, as well as taking to meetings where its always a talking point. I've had no problems with the handwriting recognition, though a spare tablet pen would be nice! The keyboard feels oddly set out - it is robust...

Worst Money can buy
Review of Acer TravelMate C300XMI - Pentium M 710 1.4 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
mlokhandwala
Advantages: Combination device
Disadvantages: Very Poor quality
...I have been using the TravelMate C301 (which is in the C300 series) for
about a year now. I cannot but say that I could not have bought a notebook
computer worse than this.
The keyboard is so poor that after every few keystrokes, some key starts
repeating although its not physically stuck. You look at the screen and
realize that 50 'y's have appeared suddenly, and you have to delete them.
Gets very frustrating when you are doing important work. I can only work
well when i connect an external USB keyboard with it.
The screen is poor, If you see it at any angle other than a perfect setting
(which is difficult to get) you will see color variations.
The accuracy of the Pen when using it as a tablet is poor, inspite of
caliberating it several times.
In less than a year, inspite of mostly using the laptop on power...

Acer have a winning Tablet PC
Review of Acer Floppy disk drive by
caladan58
Advantages: A delight to use - compact and smooth with excellent functionality
Disadvantages: Small screen and smallish keyboard, which some may find not to their taste.
...As an ICT coordinator, I've had the pleasure of using one these beauties for about 4 weeks.
This is the first tablet I have used and I admit to be being impressed by both the concept and by Acer's ingenuity in combining notebook and tablet functionality.
The processor is a Pentium III ULV 800. With 256MB of RAM and 30GB of hard disk space, the Windows XP tablet edition operating system works quickly and purposefully. The CD rom and floppy disk connect via the USB ports, of which there are two. There is also a firewire port!
With both wired and wireless connectivity, I have used the machine with ease on our LAN. The only quirk here, is that you have to switch between the two manually with the use of a switch on the keyboard.
The first impression of the machine is that it looks like a very small laptop. However, pop the hinges...

Compaq Tablet Pros And Cons
Review of Compaq TC 1000 1GHz Crusoe 30GB 10.4"TFT WIN XP TABLET ED Monitor by
Cloud_cirrus
Advantages: Very portable
Disadvantages: Slower than your average new laptop
...enough to type with easily. The mouse is a tracker button type which I prefer to a touch pad. The machine has two USB ports in it's un-docked state, which is enough to plug a full size keyboard and mouse in, but not enough if you want to put an external CD or DVD drive in as well. It does however have a serial port so you could use this for an external mouse or keyboard.
When the machine is closed up in tablet mode, and when you are carrying it in the case, the screen is outwards. I'm worried that this may mean the screen could get scratched although this hasn't happened yet.
The PC sometimes seems slow to respond, at only 1GHz it is not as fast as other bigger laptops on the market. I'm not sure whether the freezing is to do with the tablet, or Windows XP as this is the first time I have used either. I am about to purchase additional...

Laptop of the Future?
Review of Toshiba Portege M200 - Pentium M 745 1.8 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
lukeshunni05
Advantages: easy to use and great for traveling
Disadvantages: expensive
...The "Toshiba Portege M200" is a state of the art laptop which provide the user with not only the usual laptop features but also allows the user to twist the screen 180 degrees and fold it down into a tablet and wirte on it as if it were a piece of a paper with the pen provided. You can also lasoo any work and change it into text format or print it off in the form of your own handwriting.
In using this laptop i have found it very easy to use and great for doing coursework on and using to write my notes on in my lessons as i am currently studying at college and it prevents me from loosing any of my work. It is also easy to carry around and because it is light it does not become annoying to carry around.
Style. 5/5
The laptop is thin and light. It comes in a stlyish silver colour so it appears as modern as it is. The pen slots...

HP TC1100 - Pocket dynamite
Review of HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 - Pentium M 1 GHz - 10.4" TFT by
maxmidnight
Advantages: Incredibly slick, lightweight and robust. Toughened screen and powerful.
Disadvantages: Screen display is somewhat 'fiddly', compressed into 10". No extra casing protection.
...Over the past few months, I have been evaluating and rolling out tablet PC's across my organisation within the Health industry. My evaluation has covered the HP Compaq TC1100, the Motion M1200, the Fujitsu Stylistic ST4120, and the Toshiba Portégé 3500. What follows is a brief discussion of the HP TC1100 which I hope will give users some guidance and prove informative.
The HP TC1100 is the most versatile tablet PC design overall. You can use it like a regular notebook with attached keyboard or fold the keyboard under to use it in tablet mode, what sets it apart from the rest however is that it can be totally detached from the keyboard. This was a very attractive proposition and makes for a very slick and streamlined tablet for the truly mobile user. This option makes the device a staggeringly lightweight (3.1 lb) slate. As a pure slate...
