THE TABLET EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT
Review of HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 - Pentium M 1 GHz - 10.4" TFT by
jellybean11
Advantages: speed, has speakers, compact, solidly built, good battery life, USB ports
Disadvantages: keypad, no power brightness ratio
...’ve been really impressed with the PCs performance. It is very compact and you might expect it to be slow but I’ve found that opening and loading all applications is a quick process and I’ve never been disappointed The only problem albeit a minor one is that on random occasions the system freezes for a second and then continues, this doesn’t seem to be affected by the number of applications you have open but just occurs randomly; only a small niggle really though.
PC Specifications:
• Ultra Low Voltage Intel® Pentium® M 1.0GHz processor with 400MHz front side bus and 1Mb cache
• Intel 855PM chipset
• 40GB (4200 rpm)
• Microsoft® Windows® XP Tablet PC Edition
• 333MHz (Pentium-M) SDRAM Standard, up to 2GB maximum
>>>OVERALL CONCLUSION<<<
This is the first tablet PC I’ve actually used but from what I’ve experienced...

Affordable and powerful Tablet PC
Review of Acer Travelmate 250PE by
Vicster1784
Advantages: Good spec, reasonable price
Disadvantages: Tablet idea implemented very badly
..., but Acer decided to be innovative with what they call TIPS (Tablet Input Panel Support) which basically means that you can access the touch screen and the keyboard at the same time. The back of the screen has an arm that resembles a book holder that lets scribble on the screen without it swinging back.
The screen could have been bigger than 14.1” considering the size of the unit, however the keyboard is quite large and is easy to use. The touchpad is quite pleasant to use and has a multi-purpose navigation scroller at the bottom of it. The right hand side of the unit houses a floppy drive (which to be honest is pretty useless since no one really uses them anymore), whereas the left hand side sports a DVD/CDRW combo drive and a PC card slot. At the back you get a whopping 4 USB 2.0 connectors, which is nice, but the way they are placed...

Compaq Tablet Pros And Cons
Review of Compaq TC 1000 1GHz Crusoe 30GB 10.4"TFT WIN XP TABLET ED Monitor by
Cloud_cirrus
Advantages: Very portable
Disadvantages: Slower than your average new laptop
..., but small enough to type with easily. The mouse is a tracker button type which I prefer to a touch pad. The machine has two USB ports in it's un-docked state, which is enough to plug a full size keyboard and mouse in, but not enough if you want to put an external CD or DVD drive in as well. It does however have a serial port so you could use this for an external mouse or keyboard.
When the machine is closed up in tablet mode, and when you are carrying it in the case, the screen is outwards. I'm worried that this may mean the screen could get scratched although this hasn't happened yet.
The PC sometimes seems slow to respond, at only 1GHz it is not as fast as other bigger laptops on the market. I'm not sure whether the freezing is to do with the tablet, or Windows XP as this is the first time I have used either. I am about to purchase...

Wacom Graphire 2. Tasty Tablet
Review of Wacom Graphire 2 - A6 Tablet by
derek-j-a
Advantages: Good for intricate work on pictures/artwork
Disadvantages: Mouse a bit fiddly to use.
...Another birthday had come around - and they do seem to come around very quickly these days - and my wife asked me what I thought I would like. "Dunno," I replied. "Let's go and look in PC World."
After being dragged away from the latest and fastest PC's with sleek TFT monitors, my better-half directed my attention to a range of graphic tablets. I had toyed with idea of getting one before when I'd seen them magazines, but now seeing them "in the flesh" the prospect looked even more inviting. There were several out on display and the neatest one that would fit easily on my desk was the Wacom Graphire 3, priced just over £70. "That's a lot for my birthday present," says I, "do you want me to pay something towards it?" "I'll get it," came the answer. Well it was expected really. It is a ritual with us. Anything up to a hundred...

Truast TB-2100 tablet, easy and simple
Review of Trust Design and Work Tablet 200 - mouse, digitizer by
roy.jennings1
Advantages: great pen function for easy photo editing
Disadvantages: poor mouse, and freezes PC
...-programming the function buttons at the top of the tablet, to suit your own personal needs. I set them to operate certain functions within my photo editing program, making quicker and easy access to them.
With the pen I've been able to far more accurately touch up photos and pictures stored on my pc, for printing. As in the past my mouse hasn't offered the flexiblity that the pen gives tracking your moves across the mat.
There is a later software download from the Trust website, which i installed a few days after getting the product.
I have been having problems with the Tablet, which causes the mouse to stop functioning completely, and locking out even the wired mouse installed too. Leaving the only option to shutdown the PC, and restart using just the keyboard shortcuts.
I emailled Trust support, after a few days, and proving the Tablet was causing...

A tablet pc at an affordable price
Review of HP Pavilion tx2050ea Entertainment - Turion 64 X2 TL-60 - 12.1" TFT by
jupiter28
Advantages: many features, stylish looking, cheap price
Disadvantages: windows vista is not the operating system for this
...the day, then use it for surfing and watching tv in the evening/weekends. When I am looking for a laptop, I like it to stand out a bit and be different. After I had used the HP Tablet TC4400 model at work I knew it had to be a tablet PC.
For those of you that are not aware of the term 'tablet PC'. It refers to a laptop where you can turn the screen and place it flat on the keyboard with the screen face-up. This turns it into a type of notebook that you can use to write on by using the specially supplied stylus pen. Users of a PDA will be familiar with a stylus. You can use it in this mode to surf or write notes/documents. You can also use it as a conventional laptop with the screen at the rear of the keyboard.
Cool huh?
Well for me that was different so I knew it had to be a tablet. However, these tablets were initially only...

The Best of a Dying Generation
Review of HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1000 - TM5800 1 GHz - 10.4" TFT by
Meshek
Advantages: Tablet PC, Light, Quite Good Battery Life
Disadvantages: Hinge Fairly Weak, Second Generation Tablets Available
...(RJ45), a VGA port (external monitor port), 2 USB 2.0 ports, a PCMCIA Socket (This is the standard laptop upgrade slot) and a Compact Flash Socket. This selection of ports is fairly standard, although the inclusion of the USB 2.0 ports are very nice (these are backward compatible with USB 1.0 ports). Most of these ports are under a cleverly designed flap in the side of the computer that hides them from view and protects them from dust.
Form: One aspect of the Compaq design of tablet which to my knowledge is unique, is the detachable keyboard design which places the computer behind the screen so this tablet can act as a slate type tablet or as a conventional laptop type tablet. I quite like this system since it is often nice to carry it as a slate in ones arm or flat on a desk which you can do with the keyboard but this makes it closer...

A tablet PC at an easy to swallow pricepoint.
Review of HP Pavilion tx2130ea Entertainment - Turion 64 X2 TL-60 - 12.1" TFT by
Englebert_Fliegenende
Advantages: Cheapest tablet PC by far, feature packed, HP quality & support.
Disadvantages: Keyboard delicate. HDD slow. Vista.
...than any other tablet PC. So it's compromised, but it's still jolly good value as a traveller's laptop and a student's tablet.
If you live in a matchbox, you could get away with this as an only PC, otherwise, it's a good sidekick to the main beast....

An epic tale of sex in a box
Review of Apple iBook G4 - PPC G4 1 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
paule23
Advantages: Compact, stylish, great performance, good battery life.
Disadvantages: Not PC Compatible
..., design conscious individuals who don’t just want a black lump in out laptop bags, but a design icon. This is one seriously sexy computer and even now, two years after it’s launch still carries a wow factor when I show it to people for the first time. The iBook is simply a stunning looking computer.
But lets face it, just because it looks good isn’t going to persuade anyone but a complete imbecile to part with £1000. So, why else is the iBook such a good buy compared to a PC laptop?
Let’s take a look at the basic specs. The iBook currently comes in three basic models, a 12.1” screen with 800 or 900 Mhz Power PC G3 processor, 128 Mb of ram and a 30 or 40 Gb hard drive. The 14” model has a 900 Mhz Power PC G3 processor, 256 Mb Ram and a 40 Gb hard drive. The ram is expandable up to 640 Mb and all iBooks ship with the ATI Mobility...
