HP TC1100 - Pocket dynamite
Review of HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 - Pentium M 1 GHz - 10.4" TFT by
maxmidnight
Advantages: Incredibly slick, lightweight and robust. Toughened screen and powerful.
Disadvantages: Screen display is somewhat 'fiddly', compressed into 10". No extra casing protection.
...Over the past few months, I have been evaluating and rolling out tablet PC's across my organisation within the Health industry. My evaluation has covered the HP Compaq TC1100, the Motion M1200, the Fujitsu Stylistic ST4120, and the Toshiba Portégé 3500. What follows is a brief discussion of the HP TC1100 which I hope will give users some guidance and prove informative.
The HP TC1100 is the most versatile tablet PC design overall. You can use it like a regular notebook with attached keyboard or fold the keyboard under to use it in tablet mode, what sets it apart from the rest however is that it can be totally detached from the keyboard. This was a very attractive proposition and makes for a very slick and streamlined tablet for the truly mobile user. This option makes the device a staggeringly lightweight (3.1 lb) slate. As a pure...

THE TABLET EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT
Review of HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 - Pentium M 1 GHz - 10.4" TFT by
jellybean11
Advantages: speed, has speakers, compact, solidly built, good battery life, USB ports
Disadvantages: keypad, no power brightness ratio
...You may well be wondering what this little device is I wasn’t entirely sure when I first saw it but my husband soon explained all. Basically it is a half notebook half PDA style device which is perfect for busy people who are always on the move.
I think it’s probably clearer if I break my review down to cover each aspect of this product separately because there is quite a lot to mention about each feature and hopefully this way it will be more useful to you.
>>>THE SCREEN<<<
The tablet screen is a defining feature of the HP Compaq Tablet and essentially it is this feature which separates this product from every notebook on the market and there is a clear distinction between cheaper alternatives and this sturdy piece of technology. The screen is 10.4 inches adopting the appearance of a digital book, when in portrait mode...

Compaq Tablet Pros And Cons
Review of Compaq TC 1000 1GHz Crusoe 30GB 10.4"TFT WIN XP TABLET ED Monitor by
Cloud_cirrus
Advantages: Very portable
Disadvantages: Slower than your average new laptop
...I have been using a Compaq Tablet for the last four weeks for my work.
My first impression was "wow", then it was, ok and how do I use it? The PC features handwriting and speech to text, use in portrait or landscape mode and a digital pen to write with. It comes with XP Pro Tablet and uses Office XP with a tablet add on. You can also remove the keyboard from the unit completely and use it solely in 'pen' mode. It has inbuilt network and modem ports.
The machine is very light and easy to carry and comes with a black zipped case that holds the tablet in place securely. The case also makes it look like a document wallet which is quite a good security feature in the town where I work.
The machine appears robust although it has a swivel keyboard that I am concerned would not take much to break. The keyboard is compact...

Kezzalea
Advantages: flexable, light, saves time, hand and speech regonition
Disadvantages: longer battery, not cheap for spec
...The Tablet PC TC1000 is a full-function PC, with the power of Windows XP Tablet PC Edition classed as a revolutionary ultra-portable computer that you can write into using a stylus, removing the need for a keyboard and mouse
The TC1000 looks good and is cased in tough magnesium alloy, 20 times more durable than plastic. At 0.8-inch thin and weighing just 3.0 pounds, it is one of the lightest, most portable computers in the industry.
From Tablet to Notebook
The transition is smooth from tablet to notebook there is a mobile keyboard fitted neatly beneath the system, this swings open for easy access, or can be completely removed.
Windows XP Tablet PC Edition
Because the Tablet uses Windows XP Tablet PC edition it can run all your current applications. Email, Internet, whatever you use on your normal PC you can use on the tablet...

The Best of a Dying Generation
Review of HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1000 - TM5800 1 GHz - 10.4" TFT by
Meshek
Advantages: Tablet PC, Light, Quite Good Battery Life
Disadvantages: Hinge Fairly Weak, Second Generation Tablets Available
...Introduction
------------
Tablet PCs where officially launched on November 7th 2002 with a Keynote speech made by Bill gates in New York. The basic principle was to combine a laptop and graphics tablet, so that it is in effect possible to draw or write notes directly to the screen. Despite the initial good press and hype surrounding it however sales of these devices were sluggish and are only now beginning to pick up. The main reason for this is that initially the Hardware and Software were not up to scratch. The later has large | | |
