CLEAN-EASY!
Review of Boots Cold Water Sterilising Tablets by
tlws
Advantages: simple to use, quick, effective
Disadvantages: the smell, never quite sure whether its all been washed off...bleach based
...After the birth of our first daughter, we had spent so much money on every new-fangled gadget you could imagine, so we wanted to leave the sterilisation of baby's feeding equipment simple-yet effective, particularly as we go out visiting a lot and do not want to lug around everything bar the kitchen sink, the sterilisation tablets are very handy for simple, yet effective cleansing of everything 'baby'!
THE PROMISE AND THE PACKAGING
Available in packs of 32 or 64, packaged in a simply designed box- stating simply '64 sterilising tablets' Boots cold water sterilising tablets promise to sterilise your baby's feeding equipment.
As the product contains bleach - the tablets are suitable packed into silver foil and are suitably difficult to remove (!)
There is no need...

A Parent's Best Friend - Besides CBeebies...
Review of Disprol Medicine by
KarenUK
Advantages: Effective, convenient, not messy, easy to carry, well labelled, cheap
Disadvantages: Doesn't always dissolve well, only available in 16s
...Well, you can tell it’s December, I’ve got two kids off school ill. My twelve-year-old has laryngitis; my six-year-old has fluid in her ears, a high temperature and swollen tonsils. Of course, these are all notorious viruses – meaning nope, they won’t get prescribed antibiotics, they won’t work. (Is it just me or are GPs prescribing fewer antibiotics these days?)
The GP advised they drink lots of fluids (especially fruit juice for the vitamin C), eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, rest well and take paracetamol. They could be off school between three and five days – eek!
My eldest, being twelve, can take adult tablets now. She was recently prescribed co-codamol. So once they’re twelve, the range of medication they can take expands. But what about little ones?
Well, from about...

fizzy fizz fizz
Review of Aston & Parsons by
lj54
Advantages: easier than gels
Disadvantages: a bit fiddly if single handed
...I first discovered Aston and Parsons nearly 10 and half years ago and back then you could either have them in powder form or little, tiny tablets that dissolved on the gum. I remember my son, who would probably die of shame if he read this!! first started to teeth, normally a placid and quiet baby he teethed with a vengeance but very rarely cried he would just sit there and look at me with these huge blue eyes pooled with tears, I was devastated and off I set on my quest determined to end my perfections pain. I tried probably every gel, teething ring, chew stick going but one day on my travels I stumbled into the new herbal shop that had just opened and like magic these little packets of dissolvable tablets appeared. I was desperate to end his suffering so I bought them and hurried out of the shop where I then ripped the little paper...

Maws bottles could be better.
Review of Maws Heat Sensor Bottles by
tamsin23
Advantages: Don't tend to leak as much as others, heat sensitive.
Disadvantages: Teats always seem to collapse, bottles weaken quickly and crack.
.... The good thing is the same steriliser is used for both microwave and cold water. If you use the steriliser as a microwave one, it could also be used on travels when no microwave was available, as a cold water steriliser by using the tablets you get with it. The kit including the steriliser, 4 9oz wide neck bottles, a pack of 4 variflow teats, a bottle brush, teat tongs and cold water sterilising tablets costs around £15. I found it for £14.99 at Argos. The cycle takes 5 minutes in the microwave and 30 minutes for the cold water tablets. There is also an electric steriliser available with the same extras for £47.99. This runs an 8 minute cycle and has a buzzer to tell you when its finished.
The bottles do seem to be weaker than most and after a couple of months of sterilising, they do tend to crack. The bottles have leaked on occasion...

Strong spa have fun in your garden in the winter
Review of Aegean Strong Spa by
hewks
Advantages: relaxing, fun, great with friends
Disadvantages: price, cost to run
...works when the jets are on the water is forced into the filter chamber where it goes through the filter and all of the bits of hair, oils soap scum etc are left behind in the filter and the water is then pushed back in to the tub clean.
You also need to use chemicals as you would in a swimming pool but on a much smaller scale. You have a pretty good choice....
Bromine in tablet and granule form
Chlorine in tablet and granule form
Oxygenated cleansers which are good if you have sensitive skin, though they don't keep the water as clean or in as good condition as the chemicals.
We have found that tablets are the easiest at the moment we use Bromine, we pop them in the mushroom ( dispenser), open the dispenser to allow how much or little you want to go into the water, when you have been in the tub you need to shock it to give it a really...

Less is Maw
Review of Maws Microwave Steriliser by
Free84
Advantages: Great value for money!
Disadvantages: Teats caved in on each feed.
...MAWS STEAM STERILISER
Price: £14.99
Content: Steriliser, 4 Maws bottles (9 fl oz) with vary-flow teats, 1 bottlebrush, 8 water sterilization tablets and 1 instruction leaflet.
This steriliser is excellent value for money. I personally didn't like the bottles supplied with the steriliser, as the teats caved in on each feed. The steriliser can be used as either a steam steriliser, or water sterilization using the tablets supplied.
Use:
The Maws steriliser is very easy to use, whether you use steam, or the tablets. I personally found using the steriliser in the microwave the easier option for us.
Using the steam method:
Add the required amount of tap water to the reservoir in the base of the steriliser. Then place the green tray in the bottom; this holds the neck of the bottles. You can either place 4 wide...

Daddy It Hurts !!!!!!!!
Review of Calpol Medicine by
bazzaoleary77
Advantages: Great and Works
Disadvantages: Quite Expensive
...in Strawberry flavor. There are three different ways to buy Plus 6 Liquid in bottle as above with dosing spoon, Sachets as above and also an dissolve on the tongue tablet but my two will not touch the tablets I have tried. The dosage again should be followed from the bottle and I avoid using it whenever possible.
Price
Bottle 100ml £3.39 approx
10x 5ml Sachets £2.83 approx
12 x Fast Melt Tablets £3.39 approx
CALPROFEN LIQUID
This is great for when your little one's have a very high temperature or very severe pain especially sore muscles and toothache. After dosing the temperature comes down very rapidly and can help prevent convulsions due to over heating something my two have both done when I have been unable to treat them straight away. It is also very good at dealing with cold symptoms don't ask me why but it really doe's seem...

Review of Lindam Universal Steam Steriliser by
berty1966
Advantages: quick, clean, easy to use, no tablets/fluid
Disadvantages: flex is too short for me, but that may not be the case for everyone
...Our baby suffers from lactose intolerance, which took some time to diagnose. We were using a normal tablet sterilising unit and we thought this could have been the cause of the babys constant crying. We bought the Lindam sterilising unit for around £25 from argos a couple of months ago. Included in the price is a small travel sterilising bag that can be put into a microwave, which may come in handy one day.
The steriliser is made from plastic and on the inside there is an element similar to that found in a kettle.Using it is simplicity itself, all you have to do is pour in 75ml of water (using the measuring jug supplied), replace the lid press a swtch located on the front and your away! What could be easier? No messing about with a gallon of water and tablets, no more lifting everything out only to replace them 3 minutes later when you...

Fantastic
Review of Avent Electric Steam Steriliser by
Moaty
Advantages: Quick and easy to use
Disadvantages: none
...(according to my gp)However, if you want to help avoid those bugs that cause so many problems you can continue if you wish. Although I might add once the child is on the move there are alot of bugs they can pick up just from crawling around the floor. There is also a theory that if you sterilise everything too much that your child will not have a chance to build up their immune system before hitting the bug ridden schools (and I mean by that the general coughs and colds they catch at school). Please do not take that as you shouldn't ever sterilise because young babies just need that help for a slow build up to immunity. If they were to catch bugs when very young it is alot harder to treat them as they are so small.
My sister whom is a bit older than me used the sterilising tablets for her older children and for the younger this steriliser...
