...I've been in many hospitals and too many times to mention, what has been an absolute staple of these visits is 'Take A Break' magazine. Inevitably it is always in the waiting room and it's always been on the wards I have been on. The first few times, I wondered what the appeal of this magazine was, on the lurid coloured cover, it seemed to be just the same as many other women's lifestyle magazines with far fetched story titles...that was until I picked up a copy of 'Take A Break'. It then hit me why this was such a staple read, it gave stories, puzzles and recipes and in essence, it was area where you could really switch off from the environment around you. Soon after I became a 'Take A Break' fan and found myself waiting for every Thursday and waiting eagerly to spend my hard earned 76p on some 'me' time. So what is so special... Read review

Advantages: Good mix of different styles of music
Disadvantages: Difficult to get hold of in shops as it's 13 years old

...Seeing as it's 10 years next week since Robbie left his old band, I fancied doing this review. This album was the band's first album and it wasn't just girlie pop - there are some more mature songs on this than you might expect. The album was originally out on vinyl and cassette and the CD has been available since around 1996, from what I've seen of it anyway. I have this album on cassette. Today, the CD costs around £6 or Amazon have a Take That boxed set with all UK albums (except the Greatest Hits) for £14. The "Take That and Party" album cover shows the 5 lads just jumping about and being silly - it's a fun pop album after all. When this album came out the band had been together for 2 years. Advantages: Really good real life stories & some fab recipes
Disadvantages: The chance of winning a competition is very low

...I work on average 6 days out of 7 and work some really strange shifts so when it comes down to my hour long break a day I really don't know what to do with myself. As a child I used to always get a copy of Shout magazine from my gran she used to buy me one from the local paper shop and give it to me every Tuesday when I stayed at her house but as I grew older I got really bored if it and wanted some thing new to focus my attention on so I started reading my mums Take a Break and I loved it! It was always full of competitions (which I loved) and real life stories that where really interesting. After that I became totally hooked and now I get my gran to get the magazine for me every Monday they night I now sleep round. HOW MUCH and WHERE FROM? ...Yes its true, I loved the Take That boys from the first time I clapped eyes on them at an under 18s gig at Coco Savannah’s in Stockport. They took to the stage and put on a great performance, all dressed in leather, nice. Myself and my best friend were stood upstairs and as it turned out, this is where the lads changing room was situated. Well we couldn’t help but go over to them as they were on the way there and we almost ended up in the changing room with them until a bouncer came along and spoiled our fun, oh well. So that was the start of a beautiful obsession with them and we followed them the length and breadth of the country, only stopping short of following them overseas (our parents wouldn’t let us). ...I was lucky enough to get tickets for the Sheffield show of Take Thats current tour - the fact that I was only in the country for two weeks and it happened to be the same two weeks as the tour had to be some ingenious twist of fate. I was a HUGE fan when I was younger. I had one of those mad fan rooms which was wall to wall covered in posters (much to the infuriation of my dad who spent ages painting and decorating it), posters on the ceilings, curtains, bed covers, a clock... I could go on but maybe I should think about maintaining a speck of respect. So you can imagine my excitement when the reunion tour was announced. The day finally rolled around (I'd driven my nearest and dearest mad with the countdown for about three months) so I dug out my 1993 tour t shirt and scarf. ...----Me and Take That---- I used to be a Take That fan. My wall was covered in posters, and I went to several concerts where I lost my voice through screaming! Thankfully I wasn't one of these obsessed fans who had to phoned the Samaritans when the group split up a year (or so) after Robbie's departure, on 13th February 1996. People around at the time will remember the scenes of teenaged girls crying hysterically following Gary Barlow's announcement: "Unfortunately the rumours are true, and How Deep Is Your Love is going to be our last single together and the Greatest Hits is going to be the last album and from today...... is no more....." I shed a few tears, but at the age of 14 I realised that it was probably time to move on anyway. So, I went round to my friend Helen's wearing my Take That t-shirt and with bags full of TT...
