D-link DP-300U for all your printing needs
Review of D-Link DP 300U by
craggybuk
Advantages: Link upto 3 printers on 1 IP address. Simple setup
Disadvantages: None
...Where I work, we have always purchased the HP Jetdirect print server devices. However, when we bought a whole load of Magicard badge printers we found out after several painful days that these only worked with the D-link DP300u print servers due to some strange setting within the printer. With this information, we were forced into buying the D-link blind with no time to do any background research or fact finding.
The D-link is a 3 port print server, 2 ports are serial with the other being USB. This means that upto 3 printers can be attached to the print server at any one time. At the time we bought them, they were around £80 each.
--Whats in the box--
The D-link print server comes in a very compact box with just enough room for the components. There is the print server itself which is nicely designed to comply with the standard d...

Computers in one room, Printers in another.
Review of Belkin 802.11g Wireless Print Server by
Snorelax63
Advantages: Computers in one room, Printers in another.
Disadvantages: None I can think of.
...It states on the box --- BEFORE YOU BUY this product be sure you have a wireless router. --- I bought mine from Argos and it cost £49.99
We have 3 laptops at home and they all connect to our network wirelessly. if we wanted to print anything we had to physically hook up to a printer which more often than not was most inconvenient.
The Belkin Wireless G USB Print Server allows up to 2 USB printers to be connected. (you cannot add more printers via a USB hub.) Though it's a wireless print server it still comes with an Ethernet Cable so you can physically connect it to your router. If you choose this method of connection then the wireless function is automatically disabled.
Before you can use a printer via the print server you need to physically install it on each computer you are planning to access it from. (You do not set...

A dense server that takes 6 disks
Review of HP ProLiant DL380 G3 - Xeon 3.2 GHz by
grovej
Advantages: Takes 6 disks in a 2U package
Disadvantages: Not a great deal
...The DL380 is the main staple of the server estate for my current company, the server is into it’s 4th generation and this review focuses on the 3rd generation. For some reason I think because they are thin but wide and long they got named pizza boxes. This review is on the G3 model of the 360 there is now a G4 model available but I have not seen any of these as yet.
The DL380 comes from the density optimized line, this means that there are some sacrifices that are made to package the server smaller. DL servers aren’t typically as expandable as the ML line servers and can only be rack mounted, typical applications for the DL380 are departmental file/print servers, and small data base servers.
********** Specification*************
The DL380 is at the mid low end of the DL range and will accept either 1 or 2 Intel Zeon processors ranging...

D-Link DP-301U
Review of D-Link DP 301U by
tgrigg
Advantages: Robust, Reliable, Easy to configure
Disadvantages: None
...The D- Link DP-301U is a small compact print server that connects to your Ethernet or Fast Ethernet network. With its USB port, the DP-301U allows those on your network to access and share a USB printer no matter where they reside on the network. We use quite a lot these printer servers at work as not many of our printers do not have built in network connections an as most of our printers have USB connections we need a print server that has USB compatible.
These print servers are very easy to use, are very easy to setup and the user manual that comes with them is very easy understand and to follow. The print server is equipped with one USB version 1.1 port for a connection to most USB printers available ass most printers only support USB. The DP-301U also supports all major network operation systems and protocols. With its compact size...

Very quick
Review of jungle.com by
markedwards
Advantages: Quick
Disadvantages: Software very poor
...I recently got some digital pictures printed onto standard 6" x 4" glossy prints, using Jungle.com digital photo processing.
Like a lot of the online digitial photo processors, you must download the client program that interfaces with their server. The software was provided by Piccolo Pixology and was pretty bad. It crashed innumberable times and is exceptionally slow for manipulating prints. (It allows you to crop, zoom, shift etc the image before printing.)
Once all the images are entered into the software and manipulated to your choice, you then upload them to their site. This was much quicker than I expected and I was expecting a very long wait but it probably took about ten minutes.
The printing itself was very quick and the prints were on the doorstep two days later. The price was 45p per print with ap9p of £1.50....

Print server shananagins.
Review of Belkin 802.11g Wireless Print Server by
Jon_Farrimond
Advantages: Simple, Effective, cheap
Disadvantages: None as far as I can see
...I bought one of these a while ago and have been quite impressed overall. I must agree with the lady reviewer that this device is very useful and also quite easy to use.
It does accept two printers via USB and it can connect to your network via either wireless or wired networking. It supports WEP security on your network and seems to have goos signal strength attached to it. As you would expect from Belkin the device is well made and the manual makes a lot of sense.
Be aware however that not all printers are supported by the system, I had some trouble getting firmware updates to allow for my Laser printer to work on it - however Belkin have provided these on their website.
The device asks that you have the printer drivers already installed on your PC when you install the Belkin software, this isn't like normal print server at all...

What we always needed.
Review of USRobotics Wireless MAXg ADSL2+ Gateway USR9108 - wireless router by
hcafcdan
Advantages: Always on, Print server great
Disadvantages: Took a while to set up
...With having two laptops, we were always restricted to either going on the Internet one at a time, or sitting in the same place with a lead connecting the computers. The other restriction is having to be near the telephone connection point at all times.
I bought this router, because it was the only one I could find which had both a modem and print server built in. It wasn't costly either.
Features:
Broadband modem - connects you to the Internet via a built in modem
Firewall - Keeps out Intruders
Wireless access point - Connects to your various devices you want to become wireless
Print server - Allows you to print from anywhere
Setting up:
The manual isn't very good, although the US Robotics website makes up for it. Once I'd plugged everything in, my computer did not immediately connect to it. I don't know how I managed to reconfigure...

Whats your Business Worth?????
Review of APC Smart-UPS 1500VA USB & Serial - UPS - 980 Watt - 1500 VA by
njt6
Advantages: Can keep server up during power cut and surge supression
Disadvantages: Not much apart from weight..Ealier versions of the management software caused server crashes
...be configure to email you if there is a problem ie powercut or power surge also if the batteries inside need replacing.
All in all this product will save your server your business and down time!!!!!!! A must buy for small and large businesses.
A quick note although you can plug upto 2 servers, Monitors, Network Hubs and routers into these devices. They CAN NOT RUNING ANY TYPE OF PRINTER OFF OF THEM. this is because printers draw to much prower when a print is sent to then and can cause overloading and complete system crashes!!!!!
As far a value for money goes It comes down to this As nearly all companies rely on computer these days how much would you money would you loose if your server was down due to a power cut etc....
I not saying that these device are infalable but they will stop a lot of problems caused by power surges and cuts...

Use another printing service
Review of bonusprint.com by
tillylb
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: damaged prints, terrible cust service, slow, upload prog doesn't work properly
...had the CORNERS BENT from where they had just been shoved in the envelope.
I contacted customer services again and received a reply only after 4 days to the effect of 'the order was printed immediately so no alterations can be made'. No mention of the damaged prints and if the idea of refunding the extra 50 prints ordered by their server was too much to contemplate (+ 20 damaged) , not even an offer of extra prints free.
I've found this service to be totally unprofessional and would advise using one of the many others available. I will never use again, shame as I print around 100-150 photos a month....

HP BT 300 - A great addition to your HP printer
Review of HP Bt300 Bluetooth Wireless Printer Adapter by
RufusUK
Advantages: Small, easy to use, cheap, convenient
Disadvantages: None really
...I recently bought a new HP printer. It's an all in one that does photos while also having a built in scanner, copier, network print server, email system and web server.
On the front of this printer was a USB port and a card reader. The USB port is excellent for getting files from USB devices, but really comes in to it's own when used with the BT 300 from HP.
This is basically a small USB stick that sticks in the USB port on your printer and enables it as a bluetooth print server. This means that any bluetooth enabled device can print to the printer without wires.
The second I plugged in the device my printer recognised it and displayed the bluetooth logo on the little LCD screen. A quick scan on my phone revealed my printer sitting waiting. I selected a photo on my phone, pressed Send Via Bluetooth and it was away. I got a progress...
