Get ye a Tamagotchi!
Review of Bandai Tamagotchi connection version 2 by
vicki.lyon
Advantages: Small and sound can be turned off!
Disadvantages: Child's interest lasts as long as the battery!
...I bought 2 of my kids a Tamagotchi each for Christmas and I would say that now 3 1/2 months later, the novelty has just worn off (coincidently this is how long the battery lasted!).
-------The product-------
This is a Tamagotchi version 2 which means you can connect to others by means of an infra red port. They can play games and exchange items this way.
It comes in a kind of blister pack which is tricky to open. Take care that you don't bin the rather extensive insructions as well.
I got mine from Toys r us (£12.99) but I have seen them for £11.99 in Tesco.
They come in a variety of colours but I recommend that you get one of those round the neck mobile phone strings to put it on (you can pick them up for around £1) as the Tamagotchi's are small and easy to loose.
-------Setting your Tamagotchi----------
When you...

The Eating, pooing plastic machine
Review of Bandai Tamagotchi connection version 2 by
ciaomeister1
Advantages: No nappies, no baby clutter!
Disadvantages: I've become a Granny in my early thirties!!!
...As a teacher I vowed that I would never, ever allow my children to be swept away by silly, expensive school crazes. So here I am sitting by the computer, Tamagotchi at the side of me, checking that it has enough food and love to keep it happy and healthy, and making sure that it doesn't need the toilet.
This eating, pooing piece of plastic is the ideal starter pet. It makes no real mess, very little noise but it allows a humane experiment into how long children will really love and care for something. Of course it is not real; this little device is roughly 6x5 cm, made of plastic and fits neatly into your hand.
The Tamagotchi Connexion, created by Bandai, is a re-invention of its nineties sibling. Essentially it is a very basic computer game, with a blobby inanimate object hat bounces around on the screen. It has a large screen...

Cyber Love Rules
Review of Bandai Tamagotchi connection version 2 by
susie191
Advantages: Fun pet, no mess!
Disadvantages: Easy to lose.
...If you have ever fancied a pet that doesn't make a mess, doesn't smell, doesn't drain your finances or roll in the mud, then I might have just the thing for you. But, if you need the love and affection of wet kisses and a waggy tail then you might find this pet a little lacking.
The Tamagotchi
******************
The first electronic cyber pet hit the world back in November 1996. It was a pet in your pocket, a computer chipped pet which you fed and played games with until it grew up. The tamagotchi is a small hand held computer game which is simple to use and fits within the palm of an adult hand.
The craze swept the UK in the 1990s but soon fizzled out. Our kids got one when they were (too) small and it was never properly played with and ended up no doubt at the next school fair. The tamagotchi craze ended because the pet...

Tam a got you no longer
Review of Bandai Tamagotchi connection version 2 by
ang_2906
Advantages: teach a child how to look after a pet
Disadvantages: can be lost easily
...There probably aren't many families with children that haven't heard of a Tamagotchi in their house. Whether they've bought them for the kids or the kids friends have one, and they have played on it, one way or another there will be a connection to one of these little toys.
*What are they *
Tamagotchi's are a virtual pet, living in an egg shaped brightly coloured plastic case for children to look after.
When you first start playing with these toys, the child creates their first pet. These can either be a boy or girl and you don't get to know until the egg is hatched. Next you will have to choose a name for your pet.
Sounds simple enough doesn't it. But what's the appeal to kids?
Last year these things were all the rage, and I ended up having to go into town on Christmas Eve when I thought I'd finished all my shopping...

Is It A Connexion To Boredom Or Fun?
Review of Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop (NDS) by
luckylotte
Advantages: Gets Boring after A Months Use.
Disadvantages: Just Mini Games played over and over gets boring! bit pricy for an easy game!
...**The Tamagotchi DS Game Description Says...
...A shopping simulation set in the world of Tamagotchi and developed exclusively for the Nintendo DS. In the game, players open specialty shops, and develop their businesses by servicing customers through mini games that utilize the Nintendo DS's touch-screen functionality. Scheduled for release this winter, Tamagotchi: Corner Shop features a colorful, hand-drawn visual style, popular Tamagotchi characters, and a variety of different shops.
In Tamagotchi: Corner Shop, players help Mametchi, Memetchi or Kuchipatchi set up a shop, with the ultimate goal of creating a "royal" shop that is a favorite of Princess Tamako. Players can select from a variety of different stores, including a bakery, beauty salon, dentist's office, flower shop, and more. Once the shop is open, players will help...

One for tamagotchi or dog lovers
Review of Nintendogs DS - Labrador and Friends by
CloudRuler
Advantages: Tamagotchi with good graphics
Disadvantages: No substantial differences between this and a tamagotchi aside from the graphics
...Having heard about this game I was curious to find out whether there was any real substance to it or whether it was just a more high tech version of a tamagotchi. Unfortunately it's the latter.
The game is perfectly enjoyable to start with, you teach the dog tricks and the better it gets the better it does in shows thus winning more money. With this money you buy the dog toys, treats etc. You'll also need to look after the dog i.e. feed it, bath it, take it for walks. That's it. Sure you can adopt more dogs, if I remember correctly the maximum is four, but there's nothing else to the game.
There's also the issue of voice recognition which is fairly poor. Having named one of my dogs I couldn't for the life of me get the DS to accept the name when I pronounced it which made it impossible to get past a certain point with that dog...

A high tech tamagotchi
Review of Nintendogs - Dalmatian and Friends (NDS) by
CloudRuler
Advantages: Decent graphics
Disadvantages: Far too much like a high tech tamagotchi
...I've already reviewed the Labrador version of this game and as I've played all of them the reviews are going to be almost identical. The only difference between the different versions are the type of dogs available for you to select from.
In this review I'll just do a short summary of the problems I explained in the Labrador review. If you're looking for something more than a high tech tamagotchi you will not find it here. In this game you do the usual, feed the dog, bath it, take it for walks etc. You can also enter competitions for which you will have to train your dog quite a bit which is rather tedious otherwise you have no chance of winning. If you win you can then use this money to buy the dog treats, toys etc.
Voice recognition is a problem, you may find that having selected a name for your dog and had your pronunciation...

Glorified Tamagotchi???
Review of Nintendogs DS - Labrador and Friends by
liquidus1000
Advantages: Have a pet dog without having to clean up the mess!
Disadvantages: The commentators are annoying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...When my girlfriend first told me that she wanted a "Nintendog" I thought that it was going to be a glorified Tamagotchi! You feed it every now and then and get bored after a week....
But I was mistaken, it's actually quite addictive (So much in fact that I got one myself!).
At the start of the game you get to choose which puppy you want to begin with (See list below). If you are undecided you can view some in action to help you make up your mind. I chose the Labrador.
You are then prompted to call your puppies name into the built in mic. After calling it 3 or 4 times the puppy recognises it and from then on will respond to your call. You are then made to type the name on the screen.
Next you are taught how to teach your puppy a trick, "Sit". Using the touch screen, pet the puppy and move the cursor downwards to make him/her sit...

A Fully Fledged Tamagotchi
Review of Nintendogs: Dachshund and Friends (NDS) by
MegaMike
Advantages: Amazingly realistic and detailed virtual pets.
Disadvantages: Better in short bursts.
...Nintendogs was going to be a hit from the start. It took a leap out of the book from the well known Tamagotchi that have proved hugley popular. Nintendogs aimed to expand on this idea, and with the touch screen and microphone built into the DS you just know that this is going to be something special. But what you probobly want to know is whether this would be the right game for you. Read on.
----------------
Story / Aim
----------------
The idea behind Nintendogs is that you are a trainer and you have to look after your very own virtual pup. You can meet up with other people's dogs, and try to train your own dog to enter competitions.
----------------
Gameplay
----------------
The gameplay is rather simple. The game is controlled with the touch screen thoughout the whole thing. You can interact with your pup at your...

The new Tamagotchi!
Review of Cube World by
tendencies1990
Advantages: Fully interactive, user-interaction, easy-to-use, come with battery, competitvely priced
Disadvantages: Very small, can become boring, not for everyone!
...have personally noticed) and others have commented is that they are very small! On websites and images, they appear to be big and when I first ordered mine, I can admit that I was quite disappointed with the size as they are quite tiny but entertaining all the same. Apart from this, some people may become complacent as they have limited features, but they are very addictive, and are a needed replacement to the Tamagotchi era.
I would recommend that these were bought on Firebox.com, as this is where I purchased mine and they are at a brilliantly competitive price from this leading Toy retailer, at £14.95 for earlier editions and £17.95 for later editions. IN edition, Firebox.com regularly have special editions of Cube-World, which is a must for fans of these cool creatures!...
