It specialises in small mammals which include azara's agouti, black & white ruffed lemur, black-eared marmoset, capuchin, emperor tamarin, gentle lemur, giant jumping rat, golden lion tamarin, golden headed tamarin, green acouchi, grey-legged douroucouli, gundi, meerkat, ocelot and many others It was an ideal place for my wife to practice her photography skills with the camera I bought her for Christmas, without being too worried about the children disappearing too far. Belfast Zoological Gardens

Advantages: Delight on kids faces

................ I hadnt been to the Zoo in a few years and was very excited (bless me, I was worse than the kids). I was unsure of the prices and assumed that for the four of us it would maybe cost around £17 or so. Well I was wrong. £12.50!!!! I thought this was excellent. Prices are worked out £5.00 for an adult and £2.50 for a child. Children 3 and under get in free. (Caitlin is 3). Children are given booklets containing a map and a journey called 'Sammy snakes adventures'. They also receive a sticker to be stuck onto the booklet once the journey is completed. This booklet is very colourful and great for kids and their stimulation to carry on with the journey in the zoo. Animals we saw.............. A fantastic day out for all the family at Paradise Wildlife Park!

Advantages: Fantastic day out, Family Friendly, Good value for money and enjoyable for everyone!
Disadvantages: Near a very fast road with no proper crossing facilities when parked in the overflow carpark

...excellent value for money if you are a very interested wildlife photographer in the making. 'Adopt an animal' gives you the chance to adopt any species of animal in the zoo which helps to care for them for only £75 for a whole year! I think this is fantastic value for money and a great feeling knowing you have adopted your own tiger, lion or zebra or meerkats and reptiles. So apart from all of these great attractions and experiences, there is a lot of amazing wildlife to be seen! They have big cats, such as lions, leopards, cheetahs and tigers. Camels, Alpaca, Zebras, Wallabies, Mara and Hog Deer, which all enjoy being fed, buy you! A Rainforest Exhibition with Tamarin, Sloths and Three-banded Armadillo. Our Delicate Planet

Advantages: Excellent Value for money, diversity of the attraction
Disadvantages: The audio tour was not as effective as it could have been

...Tamarin, ring tailed lemur, and tree kangaroo, and are all very striking. There are additional facilities available including a small café area and a shop as well as the discovery cove area which is a children's play area. In addition the views from the rear of the grounds are absolutely stunning, and there is the opportunity to stop and rest while taking these in. Overall I think that BAMZ is doing an excellent job in delivering the important messages of conservation and the importance of looking after the environment. I felt the entrance fee represented excellent value for money at $10 as it offers at least 2-3 hours entertainment and perhaps even more for those with children. Disadvantages: Not enough to occupy you for too long

...and cages holding an array of amphibians, birds and small animals such as Toucans, Amazon Parrots, Pythons, Boa's, Gecko's, Poisonous Toads, Pygmy Marmoset monkeys and red-bellied Tamarins. There is also a lovely pond well stocked with beautifully coloured fish which shine as they swim through the water. My personal favourite were the adorable and misunderstood fruit bats. Having been adopted by a baby bat when I was a teenager, I have grown quite fond of these snub-nosed wee beasts and hope that having the opportunity to see them up close will do some good for their image. There is a separate area which is kept dark which contains a variety of tanks filled with a variety of spiders including the Mexican Redkneed tarantula and the Blue Martinique. Korkeasaari Zoo - an island escape

Advantages: Beautiful setting, boat ride, a chance to see animals you wouldn't usually, good facilities
Disadvantages: Not many "events", we didn't see many of the animals

...notably tiny tamarins including the most wonderfully coloured golden ones, while those from Asia included red panda and Asian lions. I was most looking forward to seeing the Amur tiger from Siberia but I could only get fleeting glimpses as he padded around his enclosure. The island is home to over one thousand species of trees and plants from all over the world although, as with the animals, a special effort has been made to highlight planting of local species so there are lots of noble conifers and other northern European trees. When we visited in mid September we found a riot of colour which made a striking backdrop. There was plenty of information about the various plants if you wanted it but it?s enough just to see the overall effect which makes even the sections where there are no enclosures worth exploring. The book flips between New York and Ireland, whcih makes for interesting reading, but Cathy Kelly has such a way of writing that you don't struggle with the movement in the book, and it flows incredibly well, so much so that nothing seems out of place and blends so nicely. Getting up close and personal with wildlife

Advantages: A good day out, can get close to lots of the animals, adventure play area
Disadvantages: Entry fee a little excessive

...itself is quiet small but they have a good selection of animals. The first enclosures you come to are caoti, meerkats, wolves and lions. There are stairs leading up to a viewing deck for the wolves and lions. Nearby is a toucan house with a selection of tropical birds. The next animals are the zebras, capabaras, maras, taipers, wallabees and meerkats. There is a tunnel that goes underneath the meerkat encloure for kids to crawl through and pop up in the middle through a little window! Next to the meerkat encloure is a relatively new penguin enclosure. Nearby is the rainforest excibition which is an indoor house which is home to tamarin, squirrel monkey, marmosets, armadillo and gorgeous two toed sloth.
