Between DLT and SDLT - 80 - 160GB Backup
Review of Quantum DLT VS160 80 GB 160 GB by
davidbarnes82
Advantages: Fast, reliable, Good Price
Disadvantages: No SCSI cable included, Not Great instructions
...I bought this for our office server which before-hand was running a DDS5 tape drive. I have to say the DDS5 backup system we had was excellent and never caused me any problems.
We got to a point where we needed two tapes to do a backup, and considering we keep backups for up to a month, thats a hell of a lot more tapes we would have to buy.
After a lot of research and learning about DLT and SDLT, we discovered the V160. DLT allows backups to 40GB (80GB Compressed) and SDLT is alot more (i forget the figures). DLT would not have been enough and SDLT is a hell of a lot more expensive.
Quantums V160 is right in the middle of the two and each tape can store up to 160GB data if compressed. We managed to get the drive for around £700 and then bought a number of tapes. It was delivered direct from Quantum within a week.
The one...

Motorola MPX220 - Needs a decent camera
Review of Motorola MPx220 by
will01404
Advantages: Processor, Features, Memory, Reception, Keypad
Disadvantages: Camera,Can be temperamental (Windows), Quiet earphone
...This phone is the successor to the MPX200 smartphone - a potentially great phone which lacked some important features: most noteably bluetooth and a camera. Now the new MPX220 includes these features, and more...
The MPX220 is a clamshell phone with two colour screens: one inside, and one out. The main screen is pretty average. It is a bit on the small side compared to some of the newer smartphones, but the quality is good and the picture is usually fairly sharp. To my surprise, the external screen is actually quite useful. Apart from showing the time, date, battery and reception, it can show a caller's ID and picture, and can be used as a mirror for the camera when the phone is closed!
I have found that call quality overall is good, and I very rarely find myself with low reception. One slight problem is that the earphone...

Gmini 220: What is it good for? Absolutely Nothing
Review of Archos Gmini 220 20 GB by
fagelbagel
Advantages: Compact Flash Drive, Fitted to hand, Large memory capacity, Picture Viewer, Data Storage
Disadvantages: Prone to hard-disk failure, Mildly slow, Button functions occasionally mix up.
...When I bought one of these GMinis, I was content with what i had purchased: A small, yet large in memory, fine-quality 20 Gb MP3/WMA player capable of holding over 5000 songs. The plug and play and drap and drop featues made it easy to access and to transfer music, especially using USB 2.0. Approx 200 songs transferred in under 3 minutes. The 2.6" LCD screen for photographs was, at first, quite enjoyable to use, yet when the novelty had worn off, it did not offer much potential use anymore.
The sound quality was very pleasing and could almost be mistaken for the quality of acutal CD's. I didn't really use the CF slot very much, yet when i did it proved very useful for transferring photos from my digital camera. The line-in recording, using the supplied adapter, (although only real-time) proved to give excellent quality output...

Apple iPod Classic 160GB Silver
Review of Apple iPod classic 160 GB by
ICE-COLD
Advantages: Easy To Use, Lots Of Memory, Many New Features
Disadvantages: None
...Apple iPod Classic 160GB Silver
The Apple iPod Classic is a great mp3 player. With 160GB of memory you wont have to worry about how much space you've got left ever again. I paid about £220 for my iPod classic and it was well worth it. With the iPod Classic you can browse you music in many different ways. The newest feature to searching for music is the cover flow feature. This is where you can browse all of your albums by the front cover and you simply click on the cover to see the track listing. You can still browse by Song, Artist, Album and most played. The video feature is excellent. You can hold up to 200 hours of video, all on your iPod Classic. I must say that I am very impressed with the video quality. It's just like watching a TV but with a smaller screen. You can download all of your favourite TV shows straight from...

220Di Turbo same engine as 220SLdi or not
Review of Rover 220 D by
petergee
Advantages: If good engine, good reliability
Disadvantages: Lack of rear space, unreliable versions about
...My wife has had a 220Di since April 1999 - so approaching two years old.
It was a replacement for a P reg 220Sldi which appeared to have a better engine. The 220Di is supposed to have the same engine as the 220Sldi but it doesn't seem to perform anywhere near as good as the previosu car.
This was bought on the Select scheme and it is unlikely that it will be worth anything next year as values have crashed since it was purchased in 1999. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of the 220Sldi but has remote central locking and alarm/immobiliser and electic front windows with the central console window switches -(pah!) - and several annoying rattles on the front door/handle area especially at idle. This is a design feature as it cannot be fixed (so don't bother complaining to the garage about it - this from a design engineer at Rover...

Epson Stylus Photo R220
Review of Epson Stylus Photo R220 by
TheHairyGodmother
Advantages: Photo Quality is Excellent, Prints on variety of media, Prints CD's and DVD's, Good Software bundle with sleek design
Disadvantages: Text print not fantastic, Cannot print direct from digital cameras, camcorders or memory cards. No LCD Display
...a run for their money.
After wandering aimlessly around the shop for some 20 minutes or more my eyes finally settled on the Epson Stylus Photo R220. With its sleek design and fantastic silver/grey finish I fell in love with it immediately. I stood there for a while, picturing it on my desk at home and decided that it was the perfect accompaniment to my other gadgets, and a vast improvement on my old, white coloured printer.
The main selling point for me was that the Epson Stylus Photo R220 can print on nearly any type of media you can imagine, in particular CD's and DVD's. I fancy myself as a bit of a singer and have recorded a few CD's in the past, and so I thought it would be ideal if I was able to print CD covers directly onto the discs to make a professional looking CD.
After weighing up the pros and cons I decided to buy the R...

W220 - Fab phone or failure?
Review of Motorola W220 by
redstorm12
Advantages: Price, appearance, size and intergrated FM radio
Disadvantages: Screen size and quality, unable to download media files
...I purchased the Motorola W220 approximately 4 months ago, to replace my previous Motorola V547, which had recently broken. Being someone who cannot go 10 minutes without a mobile and short of money at the time, I quickly decided upon the W220, that I would use purely on a temporary basis until a 'more suitable' replacement could be purchased. However, after 4 months I have yet to find reasonable justification to replace the phone, however as with all budget priced models there are issues with this phone that I personally find annoying.
Firstly the advantages. For me the biggest advantage of this phone was almost certainly the price. Although the RRP of the W220 is £49.99, I paid just £29.99 for the phone from Woolworth's, and it came with £5 free credit!! Having scoured the internet for hours after my purchase, I am now...

Ford Mondeo ST220
Review of Ford Mondeo ST220 3.0i Duratec ST V6 by
tintme
Advantages: Comfort with performance. Smile factor
Disadvantages: high running costs
...I bought my ST220 about 18 months ago. I changed from an Impreza Turbo and was concerned that nothing would live up to that. The ST is not a car of the same kind but has maintained my "need for speed" but added comfort and space. It has also reduced my insurance and no one tries to nick it anymore!
The car was reasonably priced I thought at £12k and insurance is not too bad, just shop around for a deal, I have just used the AA and am paying £440 fully comp (that includes 2 claims and 2 speeding fines hanging over from the Subaru) but I'm happy with AA.
The ST220 has all the extras, mine is a 52 plate and includes leather seats, heated in the front, 6 CD player, heated front screen, aircon ESP (more later) and cannot be faulted for space and ride comfort. The first long journey I did in this was Yorkshire to London. I drove...

V220. Beauty of Beast?
Review of Motorola V220 by
james564
Advantages: Picture Caller ID, MP3 Ringtones, Value For Money
Disadvantages: Camera Quality, a bit confusing
...The Motorola V220 was a phone that i was looking forward to getting but when i did i started to change my mind.
.:Camera:.
The camera has a poor quality, the contrast and brightness are adjustable and it features a x4 zoom.
There is also a feature called FotoFunPak2.
it is basically an application where you can edit your pictures and add portions of pictures to a different pictures.
You can use pictures you have taken and use them as a caller ID picture for your contacts + set them as wallpaper.
.:Ringtones:.
The ringtones are MIDI and mP3 which means you can download a real song of the V220 website. It features a MotoMixer where it has a few clips that you can mix together to create your own ringtones.
.: WAP/GPRS :.
The mobile internet on this phone is a bit useless because it doesn't work. The internet in the V220...

The perplexities of V220 ownership
Review of Motorola V220 by
absurd_luck
Advantages: Camera
Disadvantages: Sends blank texts
...I was looking for a fairly cheap phone to replace my old LGU8120 (which I found to be a very good phone), and stumbled across the Motorola V220 for about £50. I don't know whether it was the idea of having a pink phone or some other driving force, but I bought it. I haven't been more dissatisfied with a phone.
The picture quality is almost non-viewable. There is no setting to turn delivery reports on for all messages sent, you have to change the setting for each message you send, which can get quite annoying. However this could be coped with, if it wasn't for the fact it sends blank texts. All joking aside, this waste time effort and money.
The battery life is something of a joke. Although I hear that a lot of motorola's have incredibly poor battery life. With no use, it could last up to 3 days, but with heavy use it barely lasts...
