Between DLT and SDLT - 80 - 160GB Backup
Review of Quantum DLT VS160 80 GB 160 GB by  davidbarnes82

Advantages: Fast, reliable, Good Price
Disadvantages: No SCSI cable included, Not Great instructions

...I bought this for our office server which before-hand was running a DDS5 tape drive. I have to say the DDS5 backup system we had was excellent and never caused me any problems. We got to a point where we needed two tapes to do a backup, and considering we keep backups for up to a month, thats a hell of a lot more tapes we would have to buy. After a lot of research and learning about DLT and SDLT, we discovered the V160. DLT allows backups to 40GB (80GB Compressed) and SDLT is alot more (i forget the figures). DLT would not have been enough and SDLT is a hell of a lot more expensive. Quantums V160 is right in the middle of the two and each tape can store up to 160GB data if compressed. We managed to get the drive for around £700 and then bought a number of tapes. It was delivered direct from Quantum within a week. The one... Read review

Seagate barracuda SATA 320gb hard drive review
Review of Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320 GB by  simpson123

Advantages: Fast, Value for Money, Quiet, 5yr warranty
Disadvantages: none that i know

...to transfer data between pc's without using a network, or for backup storage on many pc's. Also with external hard drives from seagate you only get a 1yr warranty, instead of 5yrs for internal drives like this one. The formatted usable size is 298gb, not 320gb, it is very quiet I do not notice it at all. It is lightning fast thanks to its 16mb cache which helps make windows and programs load up quicker. The downside with the low price I paid was that as it was OEM (original equipment manufacturer) hard drive, this means that it is for computer manufactures and the hard drive is the only item incuded, so there is no instruction manual, or the sata cable to connect your hard drive to the motherboard. I had to buy the cable seperatly, but this was only a couple of quid. However nnon OEM drives come with the cable included. Although... Read review

Apple iPod Classic 160GB Black
Review of Apple iPod classic 160 GB by  Wackamolie

Advantages: Easy To Use And Lots Of Memory
Disadvantages: None

...Apple iPod Classic 160GB Black The Apple iPod Classic is the best Mp3 player on the market. I paid £230 for my iPod Classic and I must say I am very impressed. There are many new features to the iPod Classic. The sound quality is great and the video quality is just as good as a TV. With 160GB of memory you will never have to worry about running out of space ever again. The iPod its self is very durable. I have dropped my iPod lots of times and it still looks brand new. The screen is a bit like a small wide screen TV but its great for watching TV shows and movies. I wouldn't recommend that any one buys a second hand iPod, as they are quite often broken. In the past I have brought a previous version of the iPod on eBay and when I received the iPod it didn't work, I was very disappointed. Apple iPod Classic 160GB Black Includes... Read review

Apple iPod Classic 160GB Silver
Review of Apple iPod classic 160 GB by  ICE-COLD

Advantages: Easy To Use, Lots Of Memory, Many New Features
Disadvantages: None

...Apple iPod Classic 160GB Silver The Apple iPod Classic is a great mp3 player. With 160GB of memory you wont have to worry about how much space you've got left ever again. I paid about £220 for my iPod classic and it was well worth it. With the iPod Classic you can browse you music in many different ways. The newest feature to searching for music is the cover flow feature. This is where you can browse all of your albums by the front cover and you simply click on the cover to see the track listing. You can still browse by Song, Artist, Album and most played. The video feature is excellent. You can hold up to 200 hours of video, all on your iPod Classic. I must say that I am very impressed with the video quality. It's just like watching a TV but with a smaller screen. You can download all of your favourite TV shows straight from... Read review

My little black book
Review of Western Digital My Book Essential Edition WDG1U3200 320 GB by  matties_bitch

Advantages: Holds tonnes of files!
Disadvantages: It is quite heavy.

...I decided to buy an external harddrive as I store a lot of music and photographs on my computer and I would like it to be backed up in case my computer breaks and my files are irretrievable. I decided to start on Amazon.co.uk and searched "external harddrive" on their main page. A number of different models came up - the Western Digital My Book external harddrive came up a few times with different storage sizes - 160GB, 320GB, 500GB etc. The Western Digital My Book external harddrive stood out next to the others as it looked to be a nice size, it was better looking than most of the others available with its smart black casing and it had more variety of what storage size you can get. Space The 320GB harddrive holds up to 90,000 photos or 80,000 songs or 25 hours of film. The 160GB harddrive holds up to 45,000 photos or 40... Read review

A book which takes no time to be read!
Review of Western Digital My Book Essential Edition WDG1U3200 320 GB by  monsieur.Joda

Advantages: Fast fast fast, good looking, quiet
Disadvantages: none so far

...BACKGROUND ********************** I use a laptop PC which has 60GB hard drive. When you download videos, backup your music or your pictures, all these files start taking loads of space on a hard drive, and the poor things gets clogged up very quickly. I first got an external hard drive off Ebay a few years ago, but now, the 160GB start growing thin considering the amount of stuff I put on. I started looking for a new, bigger external hard drive, after seeing a cheap one on a Tesco l;eaflet (not the one I actually got) GETTING THE PUPPY ******************************** I went on Amazon, and searched for "320GB hard drive", and the Western Digital came first. It had about 25 reviews, and 98% of them were very positive (you can't please everybody). I then was told by a mate that he's been using this one for a while... Read review

Great storage gadget
Review of Seagate Hard drive 320 GB by  king_goonie

Advantages: Vast storage capacity, attractive, easy to use
Disadvantages: Rather large, power supply takes up space

...For a few months now I have been having trouble with hard drive space on my computer, as well as a couple of major system failures that resulted in alot of stuff being wiped off my machine. For this reason I decided to invest in an external hard drive, where I could both store and backup my precious files. A GOOD INVESTMENT Up until the most recent time I had to reinstall Windows, losing files in the process, I was'convinced I would never have to backup stuff - as long as I don't fill my computer will junk, everything will be fine! Well, I was wrong. Systems fail all the time, regardless of reliability, and so I think it is important for people to consider purchasing devices such as the Seagate Barracuda External Harddrive. FEATURES It comes in a range of capacities, including 80, 160, 250 and 320 gigabyte models. This is a good... Read review

160gb SATA HDD
Review of Maxtor DiamondMax 10 160 GB by  njt6

Advantages: fair amount of storage space for price
Disadvantages: Can be a bit noisey at times

...with 80gb Hard drives being the norm in most entry level pc's the price of the 160gb hdd is dropping. If you are looking for a reliable Hard drive for storage of MP3s, video or even gameing then the 160gb will be up your street. The space on the Drive makes it ideal of an entry level "pvr" system. I am currently using one of these as a secondary drive. I have so far managed to record 8hrs of tv to it at decent quality and still have plenty of space left..... The drive Is sata 150 with 8mb cache and 7200rpm spindle. This enables faster reading and writing to the drive. You will need to have a System Board that supports sata 150 or purchase a sata pci card if you want to run the drive in an older machine. You can buy a convetor which will enable you to plug the drive into a normal 40 pin IDE port. Ther is a warning... Read review
