Between DLT and SDLT - 80 - 160GB Backup
Review of Quantum DLT VS160 80 GB 160 GB by  davidbarnes82

Advantages: Fast, reliable, Good Price
Disadvantages: No SCSI cable included, Not Great instructions

...I bought this for our office server which before-hand was running a DDS5 tape drive. I have to say the DDS5 backup system we had was excellent and never caused me any problems. We got to a point where we needed two tapes to do a backup, and considering we keep backups for up to a month, thats a hell of a lot more tapes we would have to buy. After a lot of research and learning about DLT and SDLT, we discovered the V160. DLT allows backups to 40GB (80GB Compressed) and SDLT is alot more (i forget the figures). DLT would not have been enough and SDLT is a hell of a lot more expensive. Quantums V160 is right in the middle of the two and each tape can store up to 160GB data if compressed. We managed to get the drive for around £700 and then bought a number of tapes. It was delivered direct from Quantum within a week. The one... Read review

Samsung D600 - Not Just a Phone
Review of Samsung SGH-D600 by  derek-j-a

Advantages: Small, light-weight, easy-reading off the screen, loads of features
Disadvantages: None that I've found

...told me that D600 is an upgraded version of the D500 which was voted Handset Of The Year (Mobile Choice Awards 2005). As he flicked through its features, I was sold on it. The phone is of the "slide form" - the keyboard slides smoothly from underneath the screen which lights up as you do so with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels in 262k colours. Open, the phone's total length is around 14cms and closed it measures just 10cm. I was offered a colour choice of black or silver, I went for the silver. When I switched it on I was presented with a colourful screen that is easy to read. At the top is displayed the date and time, signal strength, and memory card indicator that is present when you insert the optional memory card. I had bought a 256mb but you can go up to 1GB if you want to store a lot of photos or MP3 files. The memory card... Read review

Scaleo 600 P4 2.53
Review of Fujitsu Siemens SCALEO 600 - Athlon XP 2800+ 2.08 GHz by  techman1862

Advantages: Brilliant easy to use and you do get the windows xp disk
Disadvantages: none really

...This Fujitsu computer was not that well know to us when we went looking for 2 computers. We had at the time tried to price up the components for a build and when we added the cost of Windows Xp x 2 it was a lot more, £300 more at the time, so we had to buy. The budget at the time was £1000 for 2 good computers with monitors, speakers, keybboard and mouse. Warranty would just be the normal 1 year unless we could get that included too. We had a look about and on the net but could not get the systems we were looking for. And with me fixing and being aware of the computer industry to a point we didn't want to go for a pc world own brand computer. We then got a call from someone we new in Comet who told us about these Brand new Fujitsu Scaleo 600 systems theat had to go because of a shop re-fit. They were at rock bottom prices... Read review

Seagate Pushbutton Backup External 300GB Harddrive
Review of Seagate Pushbutton Backup External Hard Drive 300 GB by  bindie

Advantages: Quick Tranfer Rate, High Capacity, Low Price
Disadvantages: Reasonably Big, Not USB Powered

...I bought this external hard drive a week ago from Maplin for £90. I bought this because of its 300GB size, and because it was an extremely good price for the size. Seagate have a very good reputation for a good quality product for a reasonably good price. It came very quickly, and I saw that it came with BounceBack for backing up files. I installed it and connected the hard drive to my PC. The Seagate was found straight away, and it opened up in My Computer. I closed the window, and I opened up the BounceBack. The first time you run it, it asks you to select if you want to backup 'My Documents' and your program files, or just 'My Documents'. After this is done, it does a pre-backup to find out how big the backup will be. Once this is done, it starts backing up what you selected. You can make the window smaller and use you... Read review

Yes... 300GB!
Review of Maxtor OneTouch Hard drive 300 GB by  Adereterial

Advantages: 300GB storage!
Disadvantages: I can't fill it!

...It really does store 300GB! Forget all the software based backup solutions, or annoying tape drives. Or even CDRWs... Buy one of these. Not only can it back up at the touch of a button, you can use the (very userfriendly) software that comes with it to schedule regular backups, so in the event of a harddisk failure, you won't lose data. This can back your whole system with miles of room to spare to store files, videos, songs, images etc. Even better, it's small, not particularly heavy, so you can pick it up and take it with you, so you've got your whole PC on hand if you need it! I used mine to transfer the contents of an old PC to a new one at work. A process expected to days took an hour or so, including installation, and was so hassle free (even if I did have to reinstall some software) that I bought one for use at home... Read review

Sad-sung U600!
Review of Samsung SGH U600 Ultra Edition 10.9 by  Bronze224

Advantages: Pretty, thin and colourful!
Disadvantages: Too delicate, sensitive and poor photo quality!

...What a disappointment! Having had a Samsung for over 4 years, (most recent being the D600) I was really looking forward to getting the Samsung U600. I wanted a phone that gave high quality photos (as did the D600), but without the bulkiness. The 3.2 megapixel U600 seemed to have it all! Sadly it's not true! Here is a selection of the spec it has (I'll list the major stuff that most of us care about!) -3.2 Megapixel Camera (with autofocus) -Slimmest Slider on the market (103.5x49.3x10.9 mm!) -eighs only 93g (believe me it's nothing compared to the D600!) -Massive 2.2" TFT display! (bright and gorgeous!) -Quad Band -Expandable memory (uses Micro SD media cards up to 1Gb) -FM Radio -Edge technology (high speed data transfer) Sounds impressive doesn't it!!?!? And to be fair here's the reality! The Good Stuff: 1.Sleek... Read review

300GB: What will you do with it?
Review of Iomega Iomega Desktop Silver Series Hard Drive 300GB 3.5” USB 2.0 by  PriyanPhoenix

Advantages: Sleek, quiet, ability to automate backups when files are modified
Disadvantages: Desk space: cannot stand vertically

...Windows file sharing over a network: although the device is plug and play, if you have selected specific folders to share, always make sure you turn on the hard drive before booting the computer. Failure to do so can cause Windows to "forget" your shared folders. FINAL THOUGHTS As a backup solution for home users it is not as simple as Maxtor's "One Touch" range. However it is particularly powerful with the automated backup procedure which is easy to set up with its fairly intuitive software. A quiet drive in a sleek shell that will fit an office or home environment, at its competitive price (around £100 for the 300GB model means 33p per gigabyte!) there is little to dislike. Thanks for reading and rating! PriyanPhoenix www.meewella.com... Read review

E600 Scenic
Review of Fujitsu Siemens SCENIC E600 - P4 2.8 GHz by  1988mike1988

Advantages: Very fast and reliable
Disadvantages: 40GB of memory

...Scenic e600 is OK for gaming but would be excellent for business. Its fast and reliable what more do you need. I did a nice upgrade to make it handle vista... i strongly recommend not putting vista on it due to it will not recognise the graphics driver and you need to use system graphics which is horrible. Now it just serves as a work computer. The amazing 2.6Ghz which is has is the best feature of this desktop computer. Been serving me well for over 3 years i think and has never broken down... Its very reliable. The 512Mb ram it comes with... get rid of it. Put about 4GB of ram in there and you got the perfect computer. Tried putting a Geforce 8800 card into.... did not fit so dont try and stick something big into it because it wont fit. Can be very silent which is a lovely aspect of it, doesnt buzzzzzzz to much. Can... Read review

Gigabyte this
Review of Gigabyte GA-7NNXP - motherboard - ATX - nForce2 Ultra 400 by  bad_bob00

Advantages: Supports fast CPU's (upto Athlon 3200+), Crammed with features
Disadvantages: None really

...actually supports the following processors - K7 Sempron 2200-3000, Athlon XP 2500+-3200+ (Barton), Athlon XP 1500+-2700+ (Throaghbred), Palomino AHD 1000+-1200+, Athlon 650-1.4G, Duron 600-1.8G To unlock the processor that you would like to use from the list above, you would have to refer to the Gigabyte 7NNXP manual that lists the jumper settings and motherboard configuration required. In the motherboard this is clearly laid out in a table, and with pictures of the jumpers and how the pins are going to be located. This is really handy, especially as if you were to incorrectly use the jumpers, you could damage your processor and motherboard! Currently my CPU needs a FSB of 400 so I have set up the jumpers on the motherboard accordingly. Once the jumpers have been adjusted, you can insert your CPU by carefully following... Read review

Samsung G600
Review of Samsung SGH G600 by  ovetta2001

Advantages: Stylish, Radio
Disadvantages: Camera

...The G600 is one of the new phones from the Samsung line. With the company being known to have great phones and be famously free with contracts nationwide I couldn't help but get this as my most recent upgrade. Contents When purchasing the G600 you get several different items within the box. Starting with a 1GB memory card which normally retails at £10 this is the first bargain. Next you have a Bluetooth headset with the Samsung logo. Most of these will start at £15 if they are branded. You get earphones with a power part in the middle to pick up local radio signals, a charger for your phone and your Bluetooth headset, software CD which serves as an instruction manual and links your phone to your computer so you can download music, photos etc. This leads to the final item - a USB cable so you can connect the two.
