Terrific Tarts
Review of The Art Of The Tart - Tamasin Day-Lewis by
kazbo
Advantages: pefect pastry recipe, fabulous photos, easy to follow recipes
Disadvantages: calories, calories, calories!
...When I first saw the book I thought it wasn't really a wide enough topic for a whole cookery book . As Tamasin took me through the whole range of tarts(savoury, sweet, common, unusual, simple, sophisticated ), I began to realise, I need never eat anything else but tarts! And men DO eat quiche, especially if it's one of Tamasin's.
It is full of delicious sounding recipes you just want to try. I made 'flamiche', which is a rich creamy leek tart for vegetarian friends and I didn't even miss the meat! Smoked haddock and watercress tart is a lovely, rich comfort food kind of tart - fish pie in a pastry case. There's even a recipe for 'breakfast tart' complete with bacon, black pudding, eggs and cherry tomatoes, so you really do need nothing else!
Then there's the sweet tarts. Mmmmm...White chocolate tart with raspberies, chocolate pecan...

Pop tart that don't pop
Review of Kellogg's Pop Tarts by
Story_Weaver
Advantages: Cheap at moment (special offer)
Disadvantages: Taste not too good
...KELLOGGS POP TARTS - CHOCOMALLOW FLAVOUR
Just for a change I thought I’d do a proper review; one for an actual product. I have chosen this particular one because I have never bought it before and only did so on this occasion because it was on offer.
WHY DID I BUY IT?
Whist whizzing around the aisles of my local supermarket, Safeway, I spied these Pop Tarts reduced from £1.99 to 99p for a pack of 8. Having an eye for a bargain, and never having tried them before I decided to give them a go.
I vaguely remember the TV advert years ago where some mum placed 2 tarts in the toaster and out they flew, warmed, and ready for the kids.
THE PACKAGING
The box is an attractive yellow and orange swirl design. The words ‘New bigger 8 pack’ and ‘Kelloggs Pop Tarts’ are in bold letters on the front and back. In addition, clearly...

OOH YOU LITTLE TART
Review of Mr Kipling Jam Tarts by
incoginto
Advantages: A good treat for all the family.
Disadvantages: Those dreaded calories and the expense.
...I purchased my packet of Mr Kiplings Real Fruit Jam Tarts at Waitrose today for the huge price of £1.06, at the moment Mr Kiplings cakes are on a 3 for the price of 2 offer, however, not the Jam Tarts. I think although the product is top quality the price is far too high and only purchased these as no other variety of jam tart was available. I have seen other brands available for as little as 20p in the economy range which is why I consider the price too expensive, and will try and buy other varieties rather than this brand in future.

Tart With A Heart
Review of Marks & Spencer Toffee Pecan Tart by
stuleg
Advantages: Delightful Decadent Desert
Disadvantages: Those Darn Calories
...No matter how hard I try, and I’ve tried hard I assure you, I cannot enter a branch of Marks & Spencer without being drawn to the food section and in particular the chilled cabinet that contains stack upon stack of scrumptious deserts. You see, I have an addiction, and it goes by the name of The Marks & Spencer toffee pecan tart. The very sight of this gorgeous concoction of sweetness brings me out in a cold sweat; I have to buy one, indeed I have to have more than one, which is starting to have an adverse effect on my bank balance and my waistline.
This king amongst deserts, this leader in all things sweet and sticky, looks harmless enough; a dark green and brown box with a wedge of the tart displayed evocatively on the front offers little clue as to just how nice the contents are. It is marketed as part of the Marks & Spencer...

I'm a nutty old tart!
Review of ASDA Coconut and Chocolate Tart by
lazza123
Advantages: Great taste
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit too much fat
...I’m not really a pudding type of person, but I am rather partial to things coconut!! I saw this tart in my local ASDA, well I just had to try it (purely for research you understand!!). and it said NEW!
** What is it? **
A tart!! Not just any tart though, it’s a sweet pastry base, covered in chocolate spread, then given a deep filling of coconut, and then gently cooked.
** What’s the box like? **
Picking up the box, it weighs a ton!! The whole thing is seriously heavy. Interestingly enough there is no actually weight on the box!!, but for £1.78 it seems pretty good value. There is a serving suggestion, of a piece of the tart with some ice cream, I would say that would be an ideal pudding! The slice of tart shown on the front of the box is identical to the contents, so there has been no tarting up of images (sorry...

Hot Tarts
Review of Kellogg's Pop Tarts by
newby2
Advantages: Lovely
Disadvantages: nothing
...Kellogg's Pop Tarts
I have a slight addiction to these Kellogg's pop tarts especially the chocolate variety. They were out when I was younger and my mum would never buy them for me so I suppose I am making up for lost time now. They come as far as I am aware only in two flavours, chocolate or strawberry. I have tried the strawberry ones only once and thought that they nowhere compared to the gorgeousness that was the chocolate variety.
They cost £1.99p and I have seen them available in most supermarkets such as Tesco or Morrison's. They come packaged in a cardboard box and inside are wrapped up in silver foil in a portion size of two tarts. In total there are 8 tarts in a box making four different portions wrapped up.
A portion size of two tarts can sometimes be a little two much but they are not liable to go too...

Did this Tart come from Bakewell ?...........
Review of Tesco Cherry bakewell tarts by
mumsymary
Advantages: fair tart
Disadvantages: almond taste
...No from Tesco's :-)
I do not often eat these Tesco bakewells but someone had bought them into school the other day so it would have been impolite to refuse one. These bake well tarts came in a box of 6 the box unmistakable and really unremarkable is a red box with a picture of a bakewell tarts adorned with cherry. It cost my friend 72p for the box from our local Tesco shop.
I removed the tart from its silver foil tray. The tart I thought was a good size. .It looked quite attractive a pastry case filled with sponge which was topped with a white fondant icing and a half glace cherry perched on top of the icing.
I ate the cherry first. Then I bit into the tart and got a mouthful of a pastry sweet a little crumbly the pastry base is quite thick. I got some of the icing in my first mouthful too it was a sweet fondant icing...

Cherry Tasty Bakewell Tarts
Review of Tesco Free From Cherry Bakewell Tarts by
Cassybobo
Advantages: Free From Milk/Wheat?Gluten/Egg, Delicious
Disadvantages: Price
...As a parent with a child that has food intolerances, it is very hard to find cakes that are milk free and wheat and gluten free,
If a food is eaten that contains milk/wheat/gluten it can result in unpleasant side effects, such as bloating, stomach cramps, constipation and a general feeling of being unwell. This can last for several days and is not very easy for a young | | |
