Taxan Monitor - The Death Star Monitor
Advantages: Robust and Solid
Disadvantages: Heavy
... Taxan Ergovision Monitor 735 TCO99
Introduction
The oldest looking piece of kit I use at work is this monitor. Taxan is part of a Japanese electronic company who have been around since 1981 and have been a leading producer of monitors. This CRT (cathode ray tube) monitor works by basically firing electron beams through a vacuum at a screen to produce a picture. This picture is what we see when we look at a monitor.
Specs
The monitor I currently use has:
? 17? display
? 1280 x 1204 resolution
? Mini two port USB hub attached to Base
? Manoverable Base
? Weighs 20Kg
Personal Experience
This monitor is a bit old school for me, it weighs as much as a death star if your trying to move it and nearly takes up as much room as one to. The display itself is still in good condition considering its age...

Taxan on the wallet
Advantages: Lots of options to perfect the image display, reliable
Disadvantages: Was quite expensive
...This is an excellent 17" monitor which I have had for about 4 years now. Although at the time it was very expensive, it has proven to be a very good investment as 17" monitors are now becoming the standard, which means that more and more web pages and games will be designed for higher and higher resolutions.
The monitor has lots of tools in its OSD (on screen display) for perfecting the picture display, such as trapezoid, top, central and bottom pin cushion adjustments, display rotation, colour separation levels, Moire pattern clear, etc. Of course it also has the usual brightness, contrast and colour adjustments.
I have not had a single problem with this monitor, and it gets a fair bit of use. When it finally does give up, or it's time to upgrade, I will definitely look at a Taxan again....

Ok buy
Advantages: Good, clear quality, very sharp
Disadvantages: lower model numbers are unreliable
...Having used a range of Taxan monitors at work, I have noticed that they are an ok buy.
I have used a variety of differet models,(the 410, 530, 710) I have found that the lower number models, i.e. the 410, seem to go blurry after a while. After 2 years use, 5 out of the 12 14" 410 models we had in the offices were unuseable, while one of the 510 models out of 4 that we had at the time, was also unuseable. However, the monitors are relatively cheap and are very sharp, especially the 510's.
I would reccomend these monitors because of their quality, however, don't buy their cheap 410 models, as they are very unstable!...

Taxing 735
Advantages: Good shape,display
Disadvantages: overpriced, mine was unstable
...I bought a Taxan monitor 2 years ago. It was a smart looking monitor in my opinion and also had a useful USB hub on the base. The monitor achieved the TCO99 standards for the display . Prior to buying the Taxan I had looked upon it as superior in the world of CRT displays alot of this idea may have come from the fact that it had a superior price. When I received the monitor I thought it was very curvy and had a big chunky power button but I was pleased overall. The dot pitch is an impressive 0.25 which is very impressive with a max resoloution of 1600*1200 which is average I suppose.
A couple of months into using it the display started refreshing periodically. This started getting more frequent and in turn more irritating. The monitor then started making a boing noise when I pressed the chunky power button on every occasion...

Iiyama still the Best!
Advantages: Razor Sharp Definition, Steady Picture, Flat Screen
Disadvantages: Controls can be a bit finicky
...Iiyama....this name has been around for many years as one of the leaders in screen technology, it is renowned for the very high quality of it's picture. Since I started in computers back in 1987 I have always tried to own a good monitor because you only have one set of eyes. I've had Taxan's, Sony's, Viewsonic's, and finally Iiyama's. The latest one being the Vision Master Pro 452, it's a 19" Aperture Grille Monitor, and is a member of the group that are call NF Naturally Flat, and yes the screen is flat, dead flat. Because of this the picture is extremely sharp and defined, this is due to the Mitsubishi Daimondtron Tube and Iiyama's excellent electronics. Small text sometimes can be a little difficult to read but this is a charactureistic of the Aperture Grille technology, but if it's graphics that you are after this is an absolutely...

my evesham has lasted
Advantages: freephone lifetime support/ system lasted 4yrs without major problems
Disadvantages: helpline access always busy
...I purchased an Evesham TNT2ultra AMD athlon 500mhz, the system cost a total of £1700 back in 1999,(almost top of the range back then) the most i could afford at the time. It had 128mb of memory, 20gb harddisc, Matrox dualhead 32mb graphicscard, soundblaster live soundcard, Taxan 17" monitor with a usb hub, operating with windows 98se, hp cd writerplus and a 10Xdvd drive.
It also came with 3 years onsite support & lifetime freephone technical support.(not available anymore) I had arrived at plumping for the Evesham over the various other competetive makes after doing some research, reading several PC magazines.
It became a toss up between Evesham and Mesh. I think it was the athlon processor that eventually swayed me towards the Evesham, having just been released it was getting good write-ups. I wanted an all round PC that would last...

~The bright eyes of my darling are never on me~
Advantages: ~Makes you re-evaluate life?~
Disadvantages: ~Uhhh, you have CANCER?~
...patients also get all of the minor side-effects of BOTH drugs. I opted for one drug, Platinol (or Cisplatin). On a lighter note, Most Chemotherapy drugs (such as Cisplatin or Carboplatin) use a Platinum compound. I love Platinum! Sorry, back to the drugs. Platinum acts as an alkylating agent and is used to treat several types of cancers including lung cancer and (obviously) ovarian cancer. One of the more popular Chemotherapy drugs (used in combination therapies and alone) for breast cancer is Docetaxel, or Taxotere. Docetaxel belongs to the general group of drugs known as taxanes.
Cisplatin, or Platinol, is given intravenously over one or more hours (mine lasted 2). Here are the notification instructions, precautions and listed side effects for Platinol:
Before taking this drug, notify your doctor of any of the following:
