Taylor 810 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar
Review of Taylor 810 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar by
Carole2512
Advantages: Superior tone, easy to play
Disadvantages: Expensive
...I wish I was the proud possessor of a Taylor 810 guitar! The one I'm writing about belongs to a friend of mine, and he's very protective of it, will let very few people touch it (I appear to be one of the favoured few!)
The guitar itself is made of Indian rosewood back and sides, with a Sitka spruce top, with distinctive Taylor ebony bridge and scratchplate. The neck is tropical American mahogany, the fingerboard is also ebony. The soundhole is decorated with Abalone, however this is not excessive. Machine heads are gold plated for a touch of luxury.
As much care has been taken on the inside of this guitar as on the outside, and the finish is smooth, even on those hard-to-reach corners inside the guitar.
This particular guitar does not have a fitted pickup, however I use an ebony Mimesis acoustic pickup which is excellent...

Taylor 310 Dreadnought Is Money Well Spent
Review of Taylor 310 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar by
mmosier
Advantages: Quality construction, great playability, reasonable price
Disadvantages: None
...The Taylor Guitar company touts its' Taylor 310 Dreadnought acoustic guitar as being the most affordable full size, solid wood guitar in the Taylor line. This instrument was constructed with the "no frills design" concept in mind--great sound, easy playability, and quality construction, for a reasonable price. After I "test drove" one of these guitars, I must say that the Taylor 310 Dreadnought acoustic guitar lives up to the hype.
This guitar is a six-string acoustic guitar that is a member of the Taylor 300 Series. The back and sides are sepele mahogany, the top is sitka spruce, and the neck is mahogany, with an ebony fretboard complete with pearl dot inlays. The nut and saddle are made of tusq, and the headstock overlay is Indian rosewood. The soundhole rosette is made of plastic, and the binding on the body is black plastic...

Talor Big Baby Acoustic Guitar
Review of Taylor Big Baby Acoustic Guitar by
mrchriswill
Advantages: Lightweight, Excellent Build Quality, Beautiful tone.
Disadvantages: Not A Lot
...Having just puchased one of these guitars on the wonderful ebay, I thought that i may as well review it for my friends on ciao.
When the guitar arrives it comes in a very sturdy, expensive looking padded gig bag. As soon as you unpack it from the box it reeks of quality, the gig bag itself has a carrying handle on the top and a strap on the rear, so you can sling it over you back in a rock ' roll style. It has a large front pocket for carrying various bits and bobs (large enough to carry a tab book), and features an embroided Taylor logo, essential for letting others know whats inside.
Once you open the gig bag and lift out the guitar it becomes apparent how lightweight the instrument is. The back and sides are made from Sapele veneerand the top is Sitka spruce. While these are not the most expensive and best sounding woods used...

The Rich Mans Guitar...Maybe not!
Review of Taylor 310ce Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar by
Ragdoll26
Advantages: Pretty good sustain accoustically.
Disadvantages: Spruce front isn't book matched with slight flaws in the grain.
...My husband is a guitar freak, as some women have to keep buying shoes he has to keep buying guitars! I'm not a musician but he is and a damn good one at that, at least I think so.
I've been dragged around music shops, guitar shows and made to look up web sites for him so I concider myself a tad of an expert on the subject!
WHAT IS IT MADE OF
Well the front and sides are made of mahogony as is the neck, the front is spruce with a sudo tortoise shell scratch board. The finger board and bridge are made of ebony.
TONE
The tone of the 310 ce is the typical modern tone associated with Taylor guitars, also this model tends to be brighter due to the mahogony back.
The treble tends to over power the bass and middle strings when played acostically (this will balence itself out with age), however this can be balenced when played...

My favourite guitar!
Review of Taylor 314ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic Electric Guitar by
bazeebond
Advantages: Great sound plugged or unplugged, well made
Disadvantages: Modest styling
...This guitar is wonderful! The sound is fantastic whether in the studio playing into a mic, on stage plugged into the PA, or sitting in my house just playing for the hell of it.
I have owned it for over a year now, and the only complaint I have is that some of the frets are beginning to wear out. I must say that I expect that to be due to my excessive playing rather than a black mark against Taylor. I play gigs several times a week, I'm heavily involved in several recording projects in Germany, and this is also the main guitar I use at home, so fret wear is inevitable.
My style of playing is very percussive, and actually because of this the top of the guitar has suffered around the sound hole. The guitar seems perfect for this kind of playing as regards the tone the guitar produces. This is mainly down to the different...

Jane Taylor - Montpelier - An Emerging Talent
Review of Montpelier - Jane Taylor by
phoenixgreen
Advantages: Lyrically Perfect, a beautiful sound, leaves you wanting more
Disadvantages: none, except its too short!
...true of my life at that time. Emotionally spot on. I know I'm not the only person to say this out loud of Jane's music - I've had lots of conversations with lots of people and they all feel exactly the same way.
*****So who is Jane Taylor?*****
Jane Taylor used to work in marketing, but even though she'd been writing songs since she was little, she only decided to do it "properly" in 2002. Now Jane Taylor is A Proper Singer Songwriter With an Album!
How she got where she is now is a lovely fairytale kind of story - she walked into a studio in Bristol to record her very first record, and met Angelo Bruschini (he plays guitar for Massive Attack) - and he liked her music so much he decided he wanted to play guitar for her on one of her songs. I'm sure Jane didn't mind at all - I know I wouldn't! The song he played on is called...

Taylor's Swiftly Become a Favourite!
Review of Taylor Swift - Taylor Swift by
bamamo
Advantages: great vocals and songwriting
Disadvantages: a few weaker tracks in the middle, not released in the UK yet
...I first heard of Taylor Swift when I heard "Teardrops on My Guitar" on internet radio and promptly downloaded it. A few months later I heard "Our Song" and read an interview in a magazine as her debut album was to be reissued. Well, here it is, and I certainly wasn't disappointed.
For those of you who are not familiar with her, Taylor is quickly making a big name for herself in the country music world - and she's only 18! After setting out to Nashville at the age of 13 from her home in Pennsylvania, she quickly snapped up a record contract and her debut single Tim McGraw was released in 2006, and to date all three of her singles have made not only the Top Ten on the Billboard Hot Country Songs (Our Song reaching number one), but also the Top 40 of the Billboard 100. This self-titled album, first released in 2006 and reissued in late...

Jazz guitar at its best
Review of Portraits - Martin Taylor by
Vodkaboy
Advantages: Great guitar, good jazz, relaxing
Disadvantages: few
...time, you would believe that there is more than one guitar at work. However, it is all him. When I first saw him play live, I could hardly believe that this was just one guitarist alone.
There is a story that he was voted "Best guitarist" by readers of a jazz magazine so many times that in the end they excluded him from the nominations! He has also won Best British Jazz Artist 7 years in a row
"Portraits" contains 14 tracks of which nine are solo; on two tracks he records two guitar parts; three are
duets with another legendary jazz guitarist, Chet Atkins.
To help the listener know whether there really are two guitars, or whether it is just him, the track listing on the back of the CD mentions after each whether it is "Solo", "Atkins & Taylot Duet", or "Taylor Duet Overdub" - he played another track alongside his first...

Taylor Made Timeless Classics
Review of Greatest Hits Vol.1 - James Taylor (Popular) by
JonnyWigan
Advantages: Well crafted, unforgettable songs.
Disadvantages: Don't let your fashionable neighbour hear you listening to it!
...James Taylor started writing songs whilst at boarding school in New England during the early sixties, and even at such a tender age, his distinctive soft-toned North Carolina voice blended perfectly with a country inspired acoustic guitar technique. It was no surprise therefore, that on graduation, the young Taylor decided his future lay in a musical direction, and after spending a short and relatively unsuccessful stint with The Beatles’ Apple Records in London, he returned to the US and signed to Warner Brothers, launching a remarkable recording career that spanned from 1968 through to the present day.
Taylor’s style of music is folk with a strong country influence, and although it’s never been a fashionable type of music to listen to (he probably stands alongside Mark Knopfler in the ‘Telented But Fashionably Clueless World...

Wo Mamma!
Review of Taylor 210 Acoustic Guitar by
steadymarvin
Advantages: Affordable, quality construction, fabulous Taylor sound
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...It might sound a bit brash for me to say that this is the best acoustic guitar that I have ever played, but really - this - is- the best acoustic guitar I've ever played, and I've played a few. I'm unashamably head over heels in love.
Appearance
In love I might be, but it wasn't love at first sight. The Taylor 210, initially looks like a fairly ordinary, if elegant dreadnought. Decoration around the sound hole is restrained and limited to plain concentric circles with plain black beading along the sitka spruce top and sapele sides and back. A satin varnish finish sits perfectly with the guitar's modest appearance and, say Taylor Guitars: "offers durable protection, good looks and a smooth feel to the touch". The 20.5 inch, fretboard is solid ebony with plain circular pearloid dots mounted on a mahogany neck. An understated...
