Quality branded DVD-R's from TDK
Review of TDK DVD-R 4.7 GB 16x by
miketurner
Advantages: Reputable and reliable
Disadvantages: Bad colour
...I paid about £20 from Adsa for the pack of 100 TDK DVD-R's (4.7Gb, 16 x speed), which I consider to be great value for a reliable, reputable make such as TDK.
I have used about half of the discs so far, mainly for films but also for backing up data, photos etc, from the PC. I have not encountered a single faulty disc, as of yet.
They seem very reliable, and have a write speed of upto 16 x, although I have not been able to test this as my DVD writer only writes at a maximum 4 x.
My only grumble with the discs is the colour. They are printed a metallic blue colour, with a pattern and the TDK logo on. While this is very nice to look at, it isn't very good for writing on with a black marker. Space (to write on the disc, not capacity) is limited because of this....

stable DVD-/+R!!!
Review of TDK DVD-R 4.7 GB by
zikiman
Advantages: Very good brand
Disadvantages: none at the moment
...This DVD-/+R is absolutely amazing, it has never let me down!
First, the This type of DVD is said to be Data/Video and it does what the description say.
When i first burnt my home video on to this DVD-/+R and played it on my DVD player, i thought it wasn't going to recognize it, however it played it correctly without jumping tracks or anything!. I tried burning with my other DVD-/+R but all of them didn't recognized my home video, sadly! Personally, i would go for DVD+R for burning home videos.
Burning it using data as a storage also delivers a high quality. There were no errors and each time, it recognized the disc because some 'crappy' DVD-/+R doesn't even load it on the computer, HOwever, TDK is top-notch.
The burning speed for DVD is 1-4x so it's not that slow. To burn the whole Data of 4.7gb would take about 30 minutes...

Amazing Dual Layer Multi-Format DVD Recorder
Review of NEC DVD ND3500A by
thevicar
Advantages: Extremely fast, Dual Layer, multi formats
Disadvantages: Needs firmware upgrade for some DL discs
...was not recognised. I tried a Philips DVD+R DL and had no problems. The latest version of Ahead Nero Burning ROM 6.6.0.1 records to DL discs with no problem. After some searching, I found that the NEC is rebadged for TDK and I flashed my drive with this firmware (2.78), and then the Datawrite DL discs worked OK. Please note that this invalidates your warranty but until NEC release firmware that supports Ritek based discs, it was the only way around it for me.
The DL discs give excellent results, but the cost is high at the moment for blank media. As mentioned, Nero was used to burn the discs, it recognises the double capacity and burns the first then second layer on its own. Nothing difficult here, same as burning an ordinary single layer disc. Both the Datawrite and Philips DVD+R DL discs played okay in my PC and standalone players (MiCO Sofia, Mi...

End of Cassttes, TDK Mini DV Tapes, Superb
Review of TDK DVM 60ME Mini DV 60 min by
qasem121
Advantages: Record over and over again, high quality, Compact
Disadvantages: 2 play in video you need a dv casstee convertor
...Mini DV tapes are great... And the best thing is you can record over them as many times as you like over and over again and you still get a high quality picture.
Well what about my experience:
Having brought a DV Camcorder I wanted to buy DV Tapes..
So rather than just buying any DV Tape I started to do my research like I normally do when I buy any of my products.
I searched online (Googling IT) for DV Tapes that where of a high quality and which had a perfect playback quality.
While searching over the net I came across a few DV Tape makes such as Fuji, DVC, Sony, Maxell & TDK
Having read reviews about the products like I normally do, I decided to go down to my local Argos store and buy TDK DVM-60 MiniDV Tapes for £7.99. I was expecting to buy just 1 for that price but I got 2 for that price. What a bargin!
Now to my...

Alba DVD113 - Perhaps its days are over
Review of Alba DVD 113 by
gusgusrule
Advantages: Cheap, stylish design,
Disadvantages: Doesn't play all media, noisy
...normal CDs but struggles with home made CDs/DVDs. So far in my experiences the best CDRs to work with this machine are the Memorex, Ritek and Princo dics, most others (including sony, packard bell, TDK, Phillips and PC line) the DVD player just won't recognise. As for DVDRs, it plays the Ritek and Datawrite copies, and the odd Pioneer or JVC ones. This is one major disadvantage of the player, its lack of interaction with certain medias makes it difficult to use as a main dvd player, its perhaps better as a cheap one for the kids bedroom or for occassional use.
------------
DESIGN
------------
The design of the DVD player is one of its strong points. It looks sleek and stylish; and despite its age its still one of the best looking players I've seen, would go perfect with a silver TV and video player too. It also has a nice large...

TDK CD-R Marker Pen
Review of TDK CD-R Marker Pen - CD labelling pen by
Kingkarliii
Advantages: Last a long time
Disadvantages: Only 4 Colours
...in the front of the packet or case to hold the pens securely in place
***The Pens***
As I have already mentioned there are four pens in a packet, Red, Green, Blue and Black. Each one has written in silver TDK CD-R PEN with the TDK logo clearly visible. On the end of each pen is a different coloured screw in cap to help identify the pen that you require. As well as this each pen has a different coloured lid and have a clip on them so that you can clip them to the inside of your jacket or shirt pocket. The nibs of these pens are really fine making it easy to write and recognise what you have written and there is no smudging at all
***Smell***
Like most permanent markers these pens give of toxic fumes that would make you high if you were to sit there and sniff them or use them in a small unaired room.
***Price***
Unfortunately I did...

Top Quality DVD Media, i've tried most of them.
Review of Verbatim DVD+RW 4.7 GB 4x by
benzas
Advantages: Excellent Thermal Stability, Excellent Quality
Disadvantages: You pay slightly more, but it's worth it.
...I've had a DVD writer since June 2004. In that time i have tried many different companies making DVD media, and for me, and the LG DVD writer i use ( i now have three of them) Verbatim make the most stable media i have come across.
I have tried the following brands:
Memorex
Datasafe
Datawrite
Imation
Infiniti
Ritek
Ridata
Panasonic
TDK and
Sony
Some of these were adequate, some were good, and some were downright a waste of money (Datasafe). But i have found the most stable media to be Verbatim, and that's all i will now use for DVD media.
I use them in both my computers DVD-writer and my panasonic set top box DVD recorder. My Recorder is particularly fussy, and i have lost a few films and programs in the last couple of years due to dodgy discs.
I recently worked out that i have burnt over 800 discs over the last 2...

Who Needs Next Gen Discs?
Review of TDK DVD-RW 4.7 GB 4x by
Gerinako
Advantages: Perfect, No flaws
Disadvantages: Can't think of any!
...I finally caught up with technology and got my first DVD Re-writer over four months ago now and was faced with a dilemma over what Blank Media Discs I should use!
So many on the market to choose, ranging from your Lidl discs to your Sony discs and quite frankly I found it a bit of a nightmare.
However after spending a good few hours looking online at available discs and finding out other peoples opinions I finally settled on the TDK. At first I wasn't sure how they were going to be so I bought a few indiviual ones first to test them out.
On arrival I prepared I used a well known media program to back up copies of family photos, as well as selecting some family videos and media to give it a wide range of tests.
After waiting patiently for it to complete the 'burn' I removed the disc and then promptly took it to the DVD player...

A boring review on CD-R80 discs!!!
Review of TDK CD-R 700 MB 24x by
kerryzach
Advantages: se op
Disadvantages: see op
...to sunlight.
The discs can be cleaned, as with other disccs, using a clean, dry soft cloth. Do not attach anything to the data side of the discs as this will cause damage. If labelling is necessary, it is advised that water resistat felt pens are used to write on the label side only!! Biros and other sharp nibbed pend will cause irrepairable damage to your discs and therefore will stop the data being retrieved!
TDK Plus CD-R discs are compatible with all types and speeds of CD-R writing systems and are playback compatible with all CD-ROM drives and audio CD players. Plus CD-R discs are also playable on DVD-ROM drives.
The recording length is 80 m | | |
