...Review of The GardenHouse Hotel, Folkestone, Kent, England
You will note that my title for this review states that the GardenHouse Hotel WAS a good hotel.
So why is the word WAS in capitals?
Well, Ciao is a little out dated as this hotel actually burnt down in 1999!
The Hotel
I was born and brought up in Folkestone, Kent and remember this hotel as one of the grand old Victorian buildings that used to dominate my home town before the property developers moved in and turned us into a concrete jungle. Folkestone is a seaside town on the South East coast of England. It is around 70 miles from London and around 16 miles from the city of Canterbury. The cross Channel port of Dover is approximately 7 miles along the coast. Folkestone was a very popular holiday destination from the time of Queen Victoria.

Advantages: covers dull garden woodwork Disadvantages: mmm mmm not sure i really like it

We are revamping the school garden and the summer house is looking very dowdy so it was decided to colour it. Now I personally am not a great lover of this trend of coloured fences coloured sheds in the garden preferring natural wood, however I duly painted the summer house a Cuprinol shades.
We choose cuprinol garden shades to colour the summerhouse. Cuprinol shades is formulated for use on exterior wood rough sawn or smooth planed, can be used on sheds trellises garden benches, planters. This treatment is NOT suitable for decking
It can be applied to wood that has been previously pressure treated, or previously treated with creosote
Cuprinol shades are available in 125ml, 1 litre, 2.5 litre, and 5 litre cans.
There are a variety of colour shades to choose from barley wood, a blue. Black ash, forget me not, holly, iris...
Advantages: Very warm welcome, great historic house, superb gardens Disadvantages: Limited admission times to the house
...If you visit The Lake District / Cumbria, I strongly recommend that you go and visit one of my favorite attractions in the area which is Mirehouse Historic House & Gardens.
Mirehouse is located on the A591 about 3.5 miles north of Keswick.
You'll find some breathtaking scenery there. When you leave your car at the car park, you can either start having a walk in the forest nearby or just cross the street and enter into the large gardens surrounding the house.
Our children certainly enjoyed the adventure playgrounds and the nature notes that you can find there, but you will also see a walled honey garden (The Bee Garden, created in 1780), a collection of different shrubs, meadows of wildflowers etc.
Take a walk at the lakeside (yes, there is quite a pretty lake close to the house - Bassenthwaite Lake) and enjoy the impression...
Advantages: Plenty to see and do Disadvantages: Quite expensive
...the area with its extensive gardens. Within the grounds there is deer park, a farm, villages and a private church as well as an adventure playground and woodland walks.
The house was first opened to the public in 1949 after the death of the 10th Duke. In March 1981 the running of Chatsworth was taken over by the Chatsworth House Trust. This is a charitable foundation set up by the 11th Duke to help ensure for the public benefit the preservation of the house. The current family occupies rooms on the ground and first floor for which they pay rent to the trust. These private quarters are out of bounds to the public and do not form part of the tour of the house.
The tour of the house takes about an hour. You walk around from room to room at your own leisure. There is information on all of the items in each room and the staff there will answer...

Review of Chatsworth House
Advantages: Access and enjoyment for all Disadvantages: Food a little limited and pricey
...of the building and they rely on donations and public admissions to the House and Gardens to maintain the house in its present state.
The House
Belton House is one of those places that are close in my heart. I used to visit when I was younger with my family and twenty years on I visit with my son.
In this time the house itself has changed little, however more areas are now open to the public to view and what can I say the rooms take your breathe away. With its rich tapestries, fine plasterwork and wood-carving, as well as important collections of paintings, furniture and the latest addition silverware.
There is now an opportunity for your little ones or even the big kid within yourself to partake in children's activities from the past and dress in authentic costumes.
A quick word to the wise though, pushchairs are not...
...The gardens of Syon House reveal a peaceful natural character when viewed on a drizzly afternoon. Although it is more common to leave such visits to sunnier summer days, I discovered that viewing them this way gave me an altogether more tranquil experience; it was like they belonged to me. My parents were on a weekend visit and we had initially planned to tour the house, which has belonged to the family of the Duke of Northumberland for over 400 years. However as we soon discovered, the house is closed to the public on Saturday afternoons, when it is used as a spectacular setting for weddings.

We didn't fancy the other indoor activities such as the butterfly house, so chose to brave the light rain instead. After paying the friendly staff we made our way along the long path...
Advantages: strong, versatile, compact, nice bright colours, fun to play with Disadvantages: none so far
...I decided to buy the in the night garden ninky nonk train set from Amazon as my young daughter is a big fan of in the night garden and whenever it comes on TV she gets really excited. So as my daughter already had some of the other characters from the show I wanted her to have the whole set and since buying it the train set the ninky nonk train set has become one of her favourite toys to play with on a daily basis.
The train set can come apart and be attached on many different ways and my daughter enjoys looking at the nice bright colours and putting some of the other in the night garden characters onto the train set even though it keeps falling of now and again it keeps her busy and sometimes I hear her in fits of giggles. The train set is very cute and versatile and its great as children such as mine can have hours of fun with it...

About Each Track
To The Moon And Back
"I would fly to the moon and back
If you'll be, if you'll be my baby..."
This track is about a woman who feels unloved and uncared for so she keeps away from human affection.
The track's theme is a futuristic hyperbole but it is a very romantic song. I like the intro that has a robotic sound effect which is followed...

The GardenHouse is a small, family-run guesthouse. It has only 7 rooms and can cater for 11 guests. It is non-smoking throughout. 'Stay on the greener side of town' is its slogan, referring to the fact that it is situated directly opposite the Valley Gardens, a large park area a short walk from the town centre. The GardenHouse has four stars under the rating system for guest accommodation, the maximum being five. Although I could have used the enquiry form on the website, I preferred to phone and see whether they had a vacancy for the night I wanted.

...Recently I have been swapping DVDs with my friend ; I've been borrowing her 'up-to-date' movies and she's been watching my 'rom-coms'. One of the DVDs which I borrowed from my friend was a film called ' The House Bunny'.
The House Bunny is an American romantic comedy film released in the United Kingdom on 10th October 2008. This film stars Anna Faris , (who's previous films include , Just Friends and My Super Ex Girlfriend). Running time of the movie is ninety seven minutes (seven minutes over one hour and a half).

Soon after her twenty seventh birthday , she is told that she is now too old to be a playboy bunny and so it 'thrown out' of the playboy house.
