Advantages: Comfortable, clean, not far from station or city centre. Very high standard of rooms. Disadvantages: Poor TV reception, terrible tea at breakfast!
...The Mercure chain owns two hotels in Bristol. One is the Brigstow in Welsh Back, a busy area for nightlife right beside the river. The second is the Holland House Hotel and Spa, only five minutes walk from the Brigstow but in a quieter spot on Redcliffe Hill. Choosing the quieter option, I stayed for a Saturday night at the four star Holland House in July 2009.
First Impressions
After travelling by train, I had a walk of around seven minutes from Bristol Temple Meads station to Holland House. Be aware if you are taking your car the hotel enforces a parking charge of £10 per 24 hours. This is quite expensive in my opinion and would add substantially to your final bill if you were staying a few nights. Check-in is after 2pm., and on showing my confirmation letter to the receptionist I was dealt with very politely...
Advantages: Central location, clean Disadvantages: Food, rooms
...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too.
Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly.
My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern.
I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower.
The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close.
The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...
Advantages: Good colour and texture, smells lovely, enhances colour Disadvantages: Expensive for what it does
...Seeing as my hair is now at the stage where it needs a complete rest from dyeing, I have been on the lookout for alternative ways of keeping my red colour a little bit longer. Therefore, when I saw The Big W had a sale on recently, I was happy to snap up this product for half price. (Expect to pay between £3 and £4 for a 250ml bottle normally.)
Te Tao has been a well-known range for quite a while now, but it wasn’t one I had ever tried, feeling the products were rather over-priced. They do a range of shampoos for various hair types (see www.tetao.com for further details) but this one caught my eye because it is a deep, dark orange-red colour and had the word ‘henna’ in it. As you probably know, henna has been used for centuries to dye hair in a more natural way than using bleaches and chemicals.

Advantages: small, good public transport Disadvantages: not that many attractions
...Thinking about visiting The Hague? Well, let me tell you a little bit about this fair city. Having lived in Den Haag (as the locals call it) for about 4 months, this is what I discovered.
Right let's get the specifics out of the way first
The Hague is the third biggest city in The Netherlands (after Amsterdam and Rotterdam). It's conveniently located in between the two larger cities, which makes it an ideal place to begin your Dutch adventure. The Hague has a population of about half a million people, so it?s not a big city by world standards. In fact, as well as having a small population it?s also quite small in area.
The weather
Dutch weather is very similar to English weather, except it rains more! A book I have on Holland cheerfully informs me that the rainfall in Holland "averages out at less than 90 minutes a day...

Review of The Hague (Netherlands)
Advantages: Excellent highly defined display. Good for the price. Disadvantages: Can develop faults over time.
...Earlier this year, lacking the funds for a fancy flat screen TFT or LCD monitor to replace my 4 year old Dell monitor I decided to opt for the Relisys TE 770 model CRT model. Having never even heard of the brand name before, I was rather skeptical.
My sole reason for buying the TE 770 was that it was the only black monitor currently on offer in the shop, put simply I wanted my new monitor to compliment my other hardware components.
Setting the model up was quite easy, a power cable is supplied with the monitor, though you may need some help from another person when lifting the monitor onto a desk or workspace.
You do need to plug in two leads, the monitor's input cable, and the power cable. The input cable must be slotted into the American style 3 - pin slot in the back of your tower/ flat case unit.
The power cable has two ends...

Review of Relisys TE 770
...I would just like to write a review on Jools Holland Best of Friends, a CD with a DVD bonus pack on the king of rhythm and blues. We all know of him from his specials at New Year, along with the numerous shows that he does during the year.
As the title does actually point out, this is all about Jools performing with his friends. The tracks on the CD are as follows, along with who actually performed them with him:
1. Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra - Tuxedo Junction.
2. Lulu - Where have all the good guys gone?
3. Chrissie Hynde - Out of this world.
4. Edwin Starr - Snowflake Boogie (2007 Remix).
5. Norah Jones - In the dark.
6. George Harrison - Horse to the water (2007 Remix).
7. Ruby Turner - To love a chhild.
8. Prince Buster - Enjoy Yourself.
9. Sterophonics - First time ever I saw your face...
Advantages: Great range of well cared for animals Disadvantages: No hippos, everythings in Dutch
...(accessible with Ryanair from Stansted or Dublin) and close to the town of Tilburg. Expecting Brits to have heard of Tilburg would be like expecting Dutch people to know about Basingstoke - i.e. unless you have reason to know about the place, it's pretty much off the radar screen. It's a very different, unseen side of Holland that's not the most beaten of beaten paths for the average English tourists.
'The biggest African safari park in the Netherlands' say the posters proudly as we bite our tongues and don't dare to ask if it's actually the only African safari park - the good old English reserve suggests it might be a bit rude to ask.
Why are we there?

...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights.
LOCATION:
The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal.
PRICE:
Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...
Advantages: Fun, educational, entertaining, hands on Disadvantages: Very big (can't see it all), can't take pictures of exhibits
...Te Papa Tongarewa museum ("Te Papa" or "Our Place" for short) is New Zealand's national museum and is right in the heart of Wellington next to the docks. If you only have time to visit one thing in Wellington, visit Te Papa. Many of the collections are online, so if you can't make it all the way to New Zealand, then have a look at the web pages instead. Originally dating from 1992 (or 1998 for the present incarnation in its iconic building), this is a modern museum suitable for children and adults alike and the exhibits are fun and often interactive, whilst still being educational.
Most of the exhibitions are free, but you pay if you want to go on a guided tour. Lifts going to every floor help with accessibility and are useful for everyone - the museum goes up to floor level 7, so we were quite worn out by the end of our trip...
Advantages: Interesting towns, great nature reserves and many attractions Disadvantages: Very quiet off season
...The Netherlands are the lowest of the low.....Low Countries that is, and the Delta region is the lowest area of them all.
This review is about three towns we visited when we were there earlier this year: VEERE, MIDDLEBURG and SLUIS.
* VEERE - a Scottish enclave *
As the town has historical links with Scotland and is in fact twinned with CULROSS in Fife, we just had to pay it a
