In our Starbucks filled world it is very nice to go to a traditional and individial establishment. About The Polly Tea Rooms: Established in 1932, Polly's is well known in the West Country for serving delicious teas. There are now three branches in the chain, as well as Marlborough there are Tea Rooms in Salisbury and a newly opened Cirencester location. Country Life magazine named The Polly Tea Rooms as "the finest tea room in England" and AA members also voted it amongst the Top 10 tearooms in the country, which is pretty impressive. ...We happened on this place around twelve months ago and since then it has become one of our favourites. The Ducking Stool Tea Rooms can be found half way down Ducking Stool Lane in Christchurch. The name is derived from the ducking stool (a medieval form of punishment for nags and scolds) - a restored version of which can be found at the end of the lane. ...I come from a family of tea drinkers and I am a tea drinker through and through. Despite this fact, I used to be quite naive when it came to tea - I just thought tea was tea. I couldn't understand why anyone would pay over the odds when you could buy a value box for a quarter of the price. Oh, how wrong I was! My first encounter with Yorkshire tea came when I was at uni and managed to get my hands on some free samples! Any company that sends out free samples immediately goes up in my estimations! ...During our recent holiday to the Lake District my family and I visited Hawkshead, a small village close to Ambleside where we were staying. After a horrible bus journey, a stressful attempt at getting to Hill Top and a slightly boring visit to a gallery of Beatrix Potter's art we were in desperate need of a good cup of tea. Fortunately we didn't have to look far for a tea room. When we walked into Minstrel's I absolutely loved the place. It looked so old and had so much character. Minstrel's is a fifteenth century building and has managed to keep a lot of the character without modernising the building.
